Historians, Journalists, Bush Aides Discuss How They Believe The 43rd President Will Be Judged
- Regarding the history of GW Bush and the Iraqi''''s, we should remind ourselves of something the ancient Greek poet Bion once said: "Boys throw stones at frogs in sport ... but the frogs die in earnest"
Boy George and his neoconservatives went hunting for frogs.
And all it cost us was 4000 of our own and 1 to 3 trillion dollars.

- George W''s Presidential career is consistent with his overall history. Why should it be different? After 60 plus years of *** up do you expect anything different.
Education, Prep school through Graduate school a pass both getting in and out because of his family name and money.
The Air National Guard fiasco. Again, his name got him in and his name kept him out of Vietnam and the brig. Ends up his military career a postal clerk or is it really AOL.
AH! His business career, a flop paid for by his daddy''s friends. Actually, the US tax payers.
Gov. of Texas, read Molly Irvins book on W, if half of it is true, he''s historically true to form.
President, well there''s the saddest joke of the century, or can we make two centuries.
Sorry George, while you may leave with your wealth intact, the American people will have a long time to sort out the mess you left us.
Please, just leave. Thankfully, you''ve concluded the Bush political dynasty. Jeb you can thank your bro. - Reply to this comment
- charlesDJ, Obama pretty much ruled that out this morning on ABC. He said that he perferred to look forward not back. He did indicate that the Attorney General would be independent, but it was not a priority for him.

- Any historical account of the Bush years, to be complete, would have to answer these questions, among many others: Where did $50 billion in Iraqi ''reconstruction funds'' go? (this is an administration famous for its cronyism, after all). Who put that bogus ''uranium from Africa'' into the crucial prewar State of the Union address after the C.I.A. removed it from previous Bush speeches? How high up were the authorities who ordered and condoned torture and then let the ''rotten apples'' at the bottom of the military heap take the fall? Who orchestrated the Pentagon''s elaborate P.R. efforts to cover up Pat Tillman''s death by ''friendly fire'' in Afghanistan? And whatever did happen to Bush''s records from the Texas Air National Guard?
Without answers like these, I doubt the ''clear air of history'' is going to offer any more of substance to the Bush legacy than the fog we''re peering through today. - Reply to this comment
- If Obama has this administration tried and hung for war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes against the American People, and I fear for the future if he doesn%u2019t, then Bush%u2019s Legacy will be sealed. The first and last, given the damage he did, person to act as president to be hung for crimes. The future will know him as The Destroyer of Nations, One of Which Was his Own.
The one thing he did do right was keep Israel from bombing Iran. If that had happened, oil would have peaked well above $300 a barrel and gas would have kept going up instead of going back down. Imagine how bad the great neocon depression would be now had that happened. Still it was too little too late, the damage has been done and the US is bleeding out. - Reply to this comment

- LISTEN TO THIS NEWS STORY THAT AIRED 1-DAY BEFORE SEPT. 11 2001 - BUSH WARNED MILITARY BASES OF COMING TERRORIST ATTACK BUT NO CIVILIAN AGENCIES, like the police, Airlines, FAA, etc. - - Here is the proof - "NAVY SECURITY" STORY ON NPR - Sept. 10, 2001 -

- While off fighting radical Islamic terrorists he allowed the free economy to be undermined by cronyism.
The cronies who became millionaires because of it, many still in Congress instead of in prison, will try to pin all the blame on him.
Concerning the big companies that pay executives a $25million bonus to get rid of them ... can''t we do that to get rid of our incumbents in the House and Senate? It would be a lot cheaper than spending $700 billion on TARP bailouts that have to be enacted immediately to prevent the sky from falling, and then not having a clue as to where it went, who got it or what they did with it.
Now that the porn industry has asked for their $5 billion bailout, I think I will as for a $2 billion bailout for my son''s lawn mowing service. When the government is throwing someone else''s money away hand over fist, the only stupid ones are the ones who don''t try to get theirs before the money runs out. - Reply to this comment
- bush, cheney, rice, etal. will be wanted the rest of their lives for war crimes. They can never leave this country. rummy did and was almost arrested in France last year. This is the bush legacy. Where any other president or their administration can go anywhere in the world bush and his people will forever have to hid in America.

- George Bush could have prevented 9/11! He received warnings that a catastrophic terror attack was coming all through the summer of 2001 from Jordan intelligence agency, Saudi Arabia, Isreal, Germany, etc. What did he do? Absolutely nothing! He AND *** Cheney went on vacation for 30 days in August leaving us as sitting ducks. They warned military basis to highten security but did not warn the civilian - police, FAA, Airports, Border Patrol, Immigration, FBI, CIA, etc. Remember what Clinton did we he received warnings there would be a terrorist bombing in 2000, he warned every agency, then a female immigration officer caught the terrorist coming into the country from Canada because he looked nervous. THANKS GEORGE BUSH, CHENEY AND CONDI for leaving thousands of Americans to DIE! Then using this tragic event as a lie and excuse to invade OIL RICH Iraq! (3rd largest oil fields on the planet in Iraq.) Bush Cheney & Condi should be in prison!

- What is that if the Republicans had spent the time on trying to do things instead of going after Clinton and trying to stay in power they would have had some things to be proud of but instead all they were concerned with was staying in power.
If of course Obama and the Democrats do just a little better then the concertives will not see power for a generation that I am certain of. - Reply to this comment
- Bush''s Legacy will be that he put two U.S. Border Patrol agents in prison, when he should have given them a medal for doing their job. During Bush''s time in office, the amount of drugs and increased 100X.
Bush has 9 days to go and he needs to pardon Compean and Ramos. If I worked as a Border Patrol Agent, I would walk off the job in protest when these men were sent to prison.
History will show that because of George Bush, we are doomed and people from other countries hate us and our country. Thanks for nothing, George. - Reply to this comment
- I agree with many of these comments...George Bush will go down in history for centuries as the worst world leader in the history of the world. Our country will never, ever recover from George Bush''s reign. We also blame our 110th Congress and soon we will see just how corrupt and greedy the 111th Congress will be. They have already started if they seat Roland Burris, who is also a greedy, egomanic, and a pay to play politican from Illinois.

- Bush legacy....Bush, after 6 days in office, set in motion the plans to build a $6.5 BILLION U.S. Navy Air-Craft Carrier and have it named after his father. The name and plans were kept secret. Then 10 days before going out of office, we had the big event in Norfolk, Virginia with George and his Dad and all the other corrupt, greedy politicans, so Dad could see a ship named after him.
What I want to know is, did George Jr start this illegal war in Iraq, so if the citizens of America found out about this expensive ship, then he would have an excuse for giving his father such an expensive gift.
the Legacy of our country for the last years and the coming years will be...Greedy and corrupt Politicans win, American taxpayers, lose. Perhaps we need another Boston Tea Party. - Reply to this comment
- History''s first draft or final version - the answer will always be the same - George W. Bush is the worst president in our nation''s history. The man has done untold damage to our country, damage which will take years to undo. He should have been impeached for his malfeasance.
