How The Revolutionary WPA Jobs Program Helped Move A Nation Mired In Depression And Redefined The American Worker
- Now that one crook, Blankavich, has been uncovered there are more to follow.
Now Obama has to walk softly and carry his big stick! - Reply to this comment
- Why doesn''t obama just call for tax cuts AND offer stimulus in small business job creation particularly in hard hit areas. Production credits and payroll tax reductions could help small businesses compete. Also some examination of L&I and workman''s comp and the exorbitant cost of these programs.

- I am always amazed at how many economically illiterate Americans think the government can magically create wealth and prosperity with the stroke of a pen.
Government CANNOT ''''create'''' a SINGLE public sector job without destroying a private sector job.

That is pretty amusing. What is this job destruction process? How does employing the unemployed to build a dam take a job from the private sector? Was there a private sector company just waiting patiently to build that road, sewer, school, or dam?
Who is economically illiterate? - Reply to this comment
- The sad truth is that FDR''s New Deal failed totally to end the Depression. It was World War II that ended it. So if FDR is Obama''s model then we have a long time to wait for anything to improve.

- Will Obama make sure that his 2.5 million "new deal" jobs go exclusively to American citizens and not to foreign guest worker imports and illegal immigrants?

- Obama Plan Would Save/Create 2.5 Million Jobs -- Much Cheaper IMMIGRATION MORATORIUM Would Save 2.5 Million Jobs
President-elect Obama should make American workers the top priority, and call for an immediate end to adding foreign workers through Chain Migration and the Visa Lottery.
And he should consider a temporary moratorium on nearly all other worker importation.
The President-elect on Nov. 25 called on his ''economic team to think anew and act anew'' while creating a stimulus package that he hopes will create 2.5 million jobs during the next two years at a cost of $500 to $700 billion.
But those efforts will be effectively cancelled out by our nation''s immigration and visa programs that are currently on auto-pilot to bring in approximately 2.5 million foreign workers into our besieged economy over the next 2 years.
In effect, current immigration policies, if left unchanged, are scheduled to allow 2.5 million new foreign workers to compete for the 2.5 million new jobs. Is this not an insane policy?
Will our government spend all of this money just so it can have just enough jobs for the new foreign workers it will bring in?
If we were to put a moratorium on all worker visas and immigration (except for nuclear family and refugees), we would achieve the same result as Obama''s program but at not even 1% of the cost! - Reply to this comment

- Here''s a news flash for debbieqd
Democrats are destroying America with their big taxes, big government, governmental reach into every facet of your life and work as they even support analyzing your thoughts to see if they can charge you with a hate crime, disenfranchisement of the people by turning many into a clutter of squabbling nationalities and the incessant march into socialism and nationalization of the free market. - Reply to this comment

You know all through the Campaign for the election you said garbage like this... always something Obama was going to do. NONE of it was true. I hope you aren''t saying the American People do NOT want the present course changed because THAT would be ridiculous! - Reply to this comment
- The biggest mistake we have EVER made was moving away from the FDR Model on the Economy. HE believed if you gave the Working Class their cut of profits and moved wealth to them, there would be more created for all. Did it work? LOL Well we moved from the Great Depression on to become the greatest Economic Power on the planet. The ONLY mistake FDR made was he was timid in the beginning with getting people back to work. THE ENORMOUS expenditures caused by WW II took care of that. After that war Working people formed Unions and we went to work. We decided in 1980 to AGAIN go back and try the tried old "Trickle Down" again. It ended up EXACTLY as it did the first time, just took longer because of Clinton.
