CBS should check their facts. Mrs Berlinrut''s son was not deployed due to stop-loss. Did it not occur to CBS to actually talk to his wife and get the truth? He is a fantastic Marine and serving in Iraq by his own choice. I know this family and am also a little disgusted that their pictures were displayed without their permission. There are just so many things about this piece that bother me. CBS really screwed up and if I were this Marine or his wife I would be pretty angry! His mother, though possibly well intentioned, was VERY misdirected. One call to the wife would have cleared up a lot of misinformation. Besides, Mrs Berlinrut would not have received a casualty call for her married son. Hello CBS? Did you not pick up on any of these clues that this wasn''t quite right? It was obvious to me.

A little history lesson for all you Democrats who love to blame Republicans for all things evil... incuding war.
WAR IN OFFICE

WWI W. Wilson (Dem)
WWII F.D.R. (Dem)
Korea Truman (Dem)
Vietnam J.F.K (Dem)
Bosnia Clinton (Dem)
Somolia Clinton (Dem)

Do they not teach history in school any more?

"BUSH W overused the National Guard in Iraq...and did not prosecute the war in Afghanistan or pursue the enemy into Pakistan. What a zero, expecting us to support his war of attrition and saying it was not like Viet Nam.....
Wars are fought where the enemy is located and not where you want him to be conveniently for battle.
To end a war, you have to engage the enemy where he is located and eliminate enough of them that they sue for peace."

Bush had to use the NG so much because Clinton raped the active duty, cutting strength to bare minimums. If your armed services cross the border into a soveriegn nation without permission, you are commiting an act of war. Thanks for the lesson on tactics and strategy. Now all we have to do is get the insurgents to come out and fight with us on OUR terms.

First, this MARINE Sgt was an adult when he signed the contract. When he did so, he KNEW or should have known that it obligated him to 8yrs of service. X number of years active and the remainder inactive. During those years of inactive service he would have been subject to recall in the case of national emergency or war. I think Iraq and Afganistan qualify. It just so happens, he had not finished his active time yet and had not had a chance to become a fat nasty civillian before being called back to active duty. I think he lucked out. He didn''t get called back from civillian life. His mother should but out, let her son be a man and live up to his commitments by doing his duty.

All that I see from your writing is that you are a cry-baby liberal and you need to shut up and let our men do their job.. I have been in the Armed Services and I signed the same thing that every person did before and after me.. We knew what we were signing when we went in.
