Comments on: Is The Word "Sale" In Your Repertoire?
Nancy Giles Is Equally Passionate About Clothes And Not Paying Too Much For Them
- I must say that this piece on this show was very offensive to me on soooo many levels. I see that others have commented on how the piece was one-sided politically, if it wasn''t a political statement why no mention of Hollywood? What about the show "What Not To Wear" these arenas flaunt extravagant spending. And aren''t we suppose to share the wealth? Retail is the perfect example of everyone getting a piece of the pie. Further I felt this piece was more suited to SNL than to a serious (at least I thought) news magazine. The final straw, I must say, was asking What would Jesus do? Please. Final assessment: uncalled for, biased, offensive, disappointing. (p.s. I will fight for Nancy''s right to say these things as well as mine to offer rebuttal.)

- Get over the clothing expense topic. I''m sure we could have used some honest reporting on Obama''s friends that MSM has been ignoring. Rezko, Giannoulias, Ayers, Dohrn, Wright, Frank Marshall Davis ~if McCain was connected to any of these people the front page of all the liberal papers would be telling the voters & ABC, NBC, CBS, & MSNBC would buzzing with real news. But since they are Obama''s friends the voters are not allowed to know. Sweep them under the rug.

- Nancy, from now on I''m going to press the mute button when you come on. I don''t trust you anymore.

- LET''S BE FAIR!!! I am tired of every political story being one sided. Yes Palin probably spent too much for the clothes, but what about Obama''s many $1500 suits, Hillary''s $6000 pantsuits and Michelle Obama''s room service order of lobster and caviar. I''m guessing the fine hotel and food was paid for out of campaign funds and I doubt it was the first and only time. LET''S BE FAIR!!!!!!!

- Nancy is the perfect example of whats wrong with our society today.
She goes to a merchant to buy clothes, the merchant supports our economy by providing Nancy a place to go shop, an inventory, and employees to help, she finds something she likes, she HIDES it so the merchant has less chance of selling it at retail, and then comes back with the chance that the merchant has put it "on sale" because it hasn''t sold, she buys it "on sale", so finally Nancy feels good she has purchased her clothing "on sale" and the merchant made less profit.
I don''t know if Nancy understands that profits enable a business to run a better store, provide more inventory, provide better wages, provide more health care insurance and other benefits for their employees.
Maybe I will wait until Sunday Morning''s advertisers products go on sale before I buy any of them.
If she was shopping in my store, I''d refuse her service and refer her to Walmart, "everyday low prices". - Reply to this comment
- I THINK NANCY GILES IS GREAT. SOMETIMES I AGREE WITH HER AND MANY TIMES I HAVE DISAGREED WITH HER. BUT TO QUIT WATCHING HER OR THE SHOW BECUASE OF ONE STORY IS SILLY. PEOPLE GET A CLU! IT IS CALLED AN EDITORIAL. IT IS THE SPEAKERS OPINION. IF THE SPEAKER IS GIVING SOMEONES ELSE''S OPINION THEY ARE LYING. AND POSSIBLY RUNNING FOR OFFICE. SEVERAL OF YOU SAID SOME UNKIND THINGS ABOUT NANCY AND HER STORY. THAT IS YOUR RIGHT. JUST AS IT IS HER RIGHT TO GIVE HER OPINIONS. THE ONLY DIFERENCE IS SHE IS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET PAID FOR THEM.

- Nancy, Nancy, Nancy,
If you were a legitimate journalist I would call your comments racially and politically biased like all your views are but since you%u2019re only a mouth without a brain that puts you in the Democratic N****r category. You can call me Mr. Republican Cracker.
On the whole you''re not bad, just always wrong. - Reply to this comment
- I am totally disgusted by the piece by Nancy Giles and will not watch her again. I will turn the tv off and encourage others to do so. This was a cheap shot and was not journalitically sound.
How much did Obama or his wife pay for clothinga and accessories, or Biden or Hillary or anyone else?
And I can''t believe you implied that it was "unChristian" to pay retail and spend so much money on clothes during a financial crunch.
I wanted to throw up.
Nancy, what would you consider to be a "Christian" amount of money to spend on clothing, if you were running for vice president?
You have lost a fan forever! - Reply to this comment
- Nancy I LOVE when you''re on CBS Sunday Morning. I thought the Palin comment was pretty innocuous. And as we all know, no mention of giving it to charity until it was leaked to the press. I love it! And Obama is called elitist, please. Keep up the good work. If you republicans quit watching every show that finds Palin wanting, you might as well get rid of your TVs. Just sayin.

- I''m so glad others feel the same way about this piece. If Sarah Palin had not gotten new clothing, which, as was pointed out, will be returned or donated to charity, she would have been lambasted for not having a decent wardrobe. I don''t think I''ll watch any Nancy Giles pieces any more. In fact, the entire Sunday Morning crew is just far too liberal for me. Too bad. I really did enjoy the program.

- I was so disgusted with Nanct Giles segment. I usually watch and enjoy Sunday morning CBS, today as I watched and listened to Nancy I wanted to heave. Journalism and CBS have died this year. You wander why your ratings are so low. No one likes to be a captive audience and have your one side bull thrown at us. Why don''t you do equal time about the "lord" Barrack Obama''s expenditure during this campaign of over 650 billion so far. Or you could do a whole show on his flying around the world in a DC 767. I am going to send emails to all of your sponsors and complain. You are a sorry excuse for journalism. Nancy you are a one sided Barack Obama koolaid drinker who has been blinded by alot of nonsense. When your segment comes on I will turn the channel.

- Did Barack Obama hit the sale racks to get his campaign ware? If it makes a difference on how the next president will lead us, then we should know.
Maybe Nancy''s on to something. If Hilary Clinton, John Kerry, and John Edwards would have gotten their hair styling done "on sale", then maybe we''d be voting for one of them in November. And if I''m not mistaking, it was all paid for out of campaign contributions, "other people''s money".
This is an example of the Nancys and the "Media gone Wild" stirring the pot creating contrivercy and not taking leadership in helping their listeners make educated decisions to make our nation and society better than we found it.
This commentary contributed very little today other than a one sided political dig. After Nancy''s commentary, Sunday Morning went to a commercial break where I got another 3 minutes of same political mud slinging.
I will certainly be fast forwarding by Nancy''s contributions to Sunday Morning program just like the political advertisements. This isn''t the first disappointing commentary and in the spirit of the season I vote for "no more Nancy", even though she buys on sale. - Reply to this comment
- There is an email going around that purports to show a credit card slip signed by Mrs. Obama for $447 for a single room service bill at the Waldorf-astoria. If this is true why not do a story on that?

- Usually I enjoy the Sunday Morning CBS. This morning I was disappointed with Nancy Giles'' commentary. Nancy failed to compare Palin''s expenditure to the millions that the Democrats are spending on this election rather than accept public funding as McCain has done. I am sure that there could be a better use for the Obama millions that have fed the media''s bank accounts.

- This was one of the dumbest stories I have ever seen.
One, it was a cheap shot political statement about Sarah Palin.
Two, Nancy Giles pointed out that she is taller than the average person. Therefore, she herself does not buy her clothing at less than retail..oh I forgot..she did buy a pair of shoes for $1.99, and she had to wear six pair of socks to fit into them and they were men%u2019s shoes...how flattering was that.
And last but not least, what does God have to do with making a decision of what or where you purchase your clothing? I''ll be sure to change channels next time Nancy Giles does one of her spots. - Reply to this comment
- We were avid fans of Sunday Morning until it became a political propaganda platform for liberalism. I am tired of political editorials disguised as tv drama.
Palin can''t catch a break...she is either a down home hick or a spendthrift. 150k on borrowed cloths...or 150 million in donations for 1 month to Obama by the so called frugal and deprived...you can''t make both cases. - Reply to this comment
- Just in case you decided to ignore the complete story, Sarah Palin can keep the clothing for only three days. They then must be returned or donated.
