Could Attitudes On Skin Color, Not Issues Still Decide The Presidential Contest? Experts Debate What Voters May Truly Feel
- No one cares whether or not Obama has black skin - but they won''t vote for him if he has a black agenda.

- smurf,
I am a white woman independent voter who has always been for Affirmative Action. I see that as necessary to create equal opportunity due to a history of racism in the US that was only ended via the efforts of MLK. I will be voting for McCain/Palin and am very concerned about Obama due to his radical left positions and allies. It''s not because he is black that I will not vote for him... and it''s not because he is black that I consider him a danger and a threat. It''s because of how radically left he is positionally and because I believe, personally, that he is racist based on his 20 year church affiliation and it''s Christology. - Reply to this comment
- Toolmangler,
Barack Obama defines himself as a Christian. Reverend Wright defines himself as a Christian. But what does the term mean to them?? Who is the "Christ" that they worship?? That will tell me what their "Christianity" means.
Also, since they define themselves as Christians, the Christ they worship will tell me their characters in identification, "Who they are"... to me.
They worship a Black Power Jesus who hates white people and Jews... basically an "Islamic Jesus".
Can a religion be both Islamic and Christian at the same time?? Or are they "Christian" or "Islamic"?? IF their Jesus is an "Islamic Jesus"... which are they?? They say Christian... but does Christian mean Islamic according to the Christ they worship??
The fact is that the God of James Cones cannot embrace the God of Martin Luther King Jr. James Cones says the God of his Malcolm X Christology must "kill" the God of Martin Luther King Jr.
So, it''s not the same Christianity or God that most people think of when they think of "Christian". It''s a completely new religion started by James Cones in the 1960''s.
Race doesn''t matter. Attitudes about race matter.
I''m completely comfortable with and I support MLK. I cannot support James Cones or his version of Jesus Christ created for Malcolm X. - Reply to this comment
- I would note too, that Dr. Condoleeza Rice is FAR more capable and qualified to serve as VP than Sarah Palin.
Why was underqualified Palin, who is white, chosen over Dr. Rice, who has more African American heritage than Barack Obama? - Reply to this comment
- Here is the future. McCain wins because Obama is NOT white. All things continue as they are because Karl Rove, Jack Abramof and Dic k Cheney are the ones running the country. The KKK wins, We lose. Eat it up people, it doesn''t matter if Obama is Christian or not, the "Swift boaters" have everything under control.

- Race is not the issue as far as a person''s skin color. Attitudes about race matter. The concern over Reverend Wright''s words create concern. There was hatred expressed for America, for whites in "white America" and there was anti-semitism as well. Racial anger is inherently evil and is of a different character than general anger or frustration. Racist anger that is "institutionalized" or "indoctrinated" is a problem.
James Cones, the theologian of Rev Wright whose books are required reading at Trinity, created a "new Jesus" in the 1960''s. He created a "Malcolm X" Jesus that Malcolm X could worship. Cones created, in effect, an "Black Jesus" who hates white people and Jews. Malcolm X, of course, was Islamic. Cones has created an "Islamic Jesus" that militant Black Power Malcolm X could worship. This is a new Christianity and a new theology.
James Cones stated that he and others could not embrace the God of Martin Luther King Jr - the Jesus Christ that Martin Luther King Jr. worshipped.
The Christ of James Cones was created for Malcolm X and is not the same Christ as the Jesus Christ of Martin Luther King Jr.
I would feel comfortable electing Martin Luther King Jr. to the office of Presidency.
I would prefer an atheist to Barack Obama for President because an atheist would not worship a God who prefers some races over others. Religion doesn''t matter to me until a racist religion is brought into the picture. That matters to me. - Reply to this comment

Smurf,
What would you say if 95% of any color voted for a candidate of the same color ?
I doubt you can answer that one Lib."

I would say that someone is distorting percentages.
I would also add that any person who votes for a candidate based on race, is racist. - Reply to this comment

- A vote for Obama is a vote for Rev Louey Farrakhan and a vote for Rev Jeremiah Wright.
The new Black KKK
Both churches are Black members only, blame whites for everything. Nothing more than a Shill for Black KKK.
I say vote No for ObO the clown and his Chicago Radicals.

They both are guilty. The problem in most cases is, historically, only one side has suffered economically from this type of thinking. - Reply to this comment

Nobody is talking about how Bush will handle the economy, we all know that! The question is how will Obama/Biden, McCain/Paline handle the economy.
Once again all you offer is unrelated spin. No opionion based on the facts of the issues. All you offered was a jumpstart on making excuses and throwing out spin on why Obama/Biden''s economic policies won''t help and things will get worse! Thanks! - Reply to this comment
- I bet a lot of REPs are happy the race issue is finally out in the open (a few days early, but it will do).
This will help them all to justify their racist vote because everyone else is doing it and the media says its ok to do...
This season''s political race has been a no brainer... The GOP play book is old and out dated, in need of an update...
and to see Mcsame act upset when that trailor trash (GOP''s Base nowa days) call him an Arab....
god helps us if this is allowed to go on - Reply to this comment
- If a blackman votes for Obama because he is black, the media calls it "empowerment,"
If a white man does not vote for Obama because he is black, the media cries, "Racism."
If a blackman votes FOR Obama because he is black, this is RACISM also.
You can''t have it both ways. Either both are guilty of racism, or neither are. - Reply to this comment
- Those that support McSame and denigrate Obama bear a strong resemblance to someone afflicted with "beaten dog syndrome."
The real questions that beg to be asked are: How can anyone possibly want 4 more years of the McSame lies, treachery, and deciept? And how could anyone support the very folks who''ve raped our treasury and stolen our civil liberties?
Vote Obama for real change.
Vote all incumbents out and take back the country. - Reply to this comment
- "I don''t want to say I''m prejudiced or anything, but for one, I''m not going to, I don''t want to vote for a colored man to be our president," said one voter.
As long as there are people who think like this, blacks will always have a disadvantage. There are many people with this type of mentality who hold the purse strings and sit at the top of corporations.
Intelligence and ability aren''t a factor, it''s the persons color that matters. So even if a person is qualified, if they are black, they don''t get the job. - Reply to this comment
- I''m glad this has come up. I had some real concerns about Obama''s electability. I liked Huckabee, likely always will because his bearing and his message calls us to be our better selves. It is that same decency I see and hear from Obama. He is steady, personable, articulate, smart and able to work well with others where they are (as opposed to Bush, who is only able to work with anyone who agrees with him completely).
It amazes me that some people, when there is such need here and abroad, are still thinking with their skin. - Reply to this comment
