With Talk Of An Impending Financial Armageddon, The Gov't Takes Unprecedented Action. But Where Will It Lead?
- AIG - Now this is a tricky one and is also VERY NEW. What I have found out so far is that they are the largest insurer in the world catering to over 130 countries. They are involved in everyone''s politics and they hedge their bets in winning candidates. Obama has recieved the most in contributions from AIG but you have to understand that Obama has also RAISED the most money in contributions in excess of 370 Million dollars. What Obama has gotten from them is very small in coparison to what he got from all his outher sources of contributions. Roughly Obama got 103,000 dollars and McCain is right behind him at 45,000. I must also remind you that while Obama is taking individual contribution funds for his campaign - McCain is using public funds that is a set amount and he cannot raise anymore money for the General Election. Otherwise, I am sure McCain would be accepting a lot more in AIG contributions. We also don''t know how much AIG has contributed to congress reps over the years but I am sure the info is out there somewhere.
Lobbiests have more than quadroupled in Washington DC since the year 2000. At which time they knew who was in power with Repubicans in control ove the HOUSE, SENATE and PRESIDENCY at that time. - Reply to this comment
- Tyco - L. Dennis Kozlowski, Sentenced to 25 years. Now this guy is the guru for Republican donations at 93% However, he was not so generous to the Democrats at just 5%.

Worldcom - Bernie Ebbers, (sentenced 25 years) David Myers, Scott Sullivan - David Myers got sentenced to ONE year and ONE DAY to prison. Bernie Ebbers Contributed the most toward Chip Pickering - Telecommunications committee. However 53% went to republicans and 36% to Democrats and the rest to (other).

As you can see this is proof that republicans have by far recieved monies that by a huge amount go to the repubicans and their party to push their agendas over the last decade. So now lets turn our attention to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae...
The full story is not quite so clear on them because they are realatively newscomers to the corporate scandal list. However, They seemed to contribute evenly to both parties. This investigative report done by Politico.com explains the problems, the key players and what is going on - up to date.

- Adelphia - Founder - John Regas, Sentenced 15 years for Corporate Fraud. As this chart shows he gave republicans 48% of campaign donations, followed by 33% to (other) which is PACS and Lobbying efforts. He did give 18 percent to Democrat campaign donations:

Eron, Ken Lay - Sentenced to Prison by died before reporting (so they tell us). Started a small pipe line in Texas. This man gave 85% to republicans for their Campaigns, (other) got 7% and the Democrats got 8%.. We must note that George Bush Sr. and his son helped this man through Deregulation of Energy spanning over 20 years. Once deregulation was achieved through legislation that small pipeline grew to a fortune 500 company within 7 years. Also, if you look at the stats on this page, the majority of democrats he donated to (out of that 8%) were from Texas.

- ASSESSING RESPONISBILITY
The fraud and greed in this story shows that basically we see a redistribution of wealth (from the tax payer) to the wealthy - interestingly enough.
The reason everyone is saying the bailouts are better than the alternative? They are talking about Soup lines and vast economic termoil as being the alternative. The alternative is 25 percent unemployment and people living in the streets like never before.
Deregulation from the very entity that has created regulation to prevent what happened like what Americans saw from the Sock Market crash of 1929 - As the article points out.
Heres is the kicker of this article - It states: "Wall Street kept on saying, ''Well, don''t worry about anything, we have everything under control, we don''t need more regulation."
These lobbiests were mainly after REPUBLICANS - for over 30 years. I also know some democrats in office got sucked in along the way. However, between the Great Depression and now people have gotten crazy with greed. We had some major events that have happened that were sure tale signs, HUGE RED FLAGS THAT KEPT BEING IGNORED. (Especially in the last 30 years - Even moreso in the last 20 years - And especially in the LAST FIVE YEARS)
We could go back as far as the "Keating Five" or the "Savings and Loan scandals of Neil BUSH.
But I am going to take you back in time and show you where the money goes and from whom backed up by links of open records. - Reply to this comment
- I am waiting and I challenge any DEMONRAT to prove that any of Bushs achievements listed by me are false.

LOL! Like shooting fish in a barrel, there''s not much challenge to it. It would be like taking candy from a baby, or ... in this case, skoal from a backwoods bumpkin.
I have no need for skoal, candy or fish, for that matter. If those fantasies make you happy, I won''t destroy that for you.
I''ll let the November election do that. - Reply to this comment
- BajaJohn1, you said....just think of Social Security, Medicare and all of the bailouts. Basically, it seems like it has been unfettered, unregulated capitalism for the rich and socialism for the poor. ....
Isnt it only caring that those who have been lucky to be able to make a bit of money can help those who cant, as long as those who cant dont live off those who can forever..
Dont you help your loved ones around you if they need it??? or do you just let them stave??? To help those who need it is not socialism it is caring..
It is human nature to have a goal and if we dont we become like the people in Russia where there was the worlds biggest portion of people committing suicide, got drunk, and had nothign to live for.
If we are caring humans then those who have nothing because of no fault of their own should be given a hand up.. However, I object when people live off my hard earned income for years..
Capitalism is for everyone if they want to try, makes life worthwhile to have to strive to achieve a goal, people die without a goal.. - Reply to this comment
