With Talk Of An Impending Financial Armageddon, The Gov't Takes Unprecedented Action. But Where Will It Lead?
- At the end of Bill Clinton''s presidency we had the highest budget surplus in our nation''s history. Now, eight years of near total Republican rule and we have an economy in the toilet, and endless war, spiraling debt, home values evaporating, record fuel, food and heating costs, massive financial institutions failing and collapsing and then being paid for by corporate welfare through taxpayer funds, and the neocons STILL try to blame the democrats. These are the facts. It''s just so incredibly pathetic.
McSame/Palin''s platform is the radical right wing agenda. McSame is no longer McCain, he''s completely reverted to type, and Palin is scary beyond all belief. She''ll be rolling around on the oval office floor speaking in "tongues". It is quite simply not possible to be patriotic American and vote for McSame. The ONLY reason anyone might want to vote for McSame is if they hate minorities and/or want to advance a radical religious agenda (Much like Iraq has done in their government).
Stop the hate. Be a patriot. Vote Obama/Biden 2008! - Reply to this comment

- I wonder if any of the cattle will get this: For example, historian Gaetano Salvemini argued in 1936 that fascism makes taxpayers responsible to private enterprise, because "the State pays for the blunders of private enterprise... Profit is private and individual. Loss is public and social."
Why did not the public get all of the profits from these banks, yet the public must pay for the blunders? Will the government now pay for every bad car that comes from GM? Will the government buy every bad computer that is sold by Dell? I cannot believe the utter incredulity of this whole thing. It is pure robbery, theft, and outright deceit. - Reply to this comment

- Impeachment is a conclusion of guilt by trial of treason.

Bill Clinton was impeached. Andrew Johnson was impeached TWICE.
But neither was removed from office. Impeachment is like indictment. It''s a finding that sufficient evidence of wrongdoing exists to justify formal charges.
Acutal REMOVAL FROM OFFICE has never happened. Yet. - Reply to this comment
- mcv57; Yes, but who would you put in charge?

A purged U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress ... if they are all held pending corruption charges ... a Military Tribunal with the Supervision of NATO Judiciary. - Reply to this comment

Yes, this was planned. It was planned YEARS in advance. The plan was put in action in 1999, with the banking deregulation act that WAS SIGNED BY BILL CLINTON. - Reply to this comment

- Some have state income taxes which are a misery onto their own, but you get to own your property. If you make little or no income, you still have your home.

If there is a property tax, I GUARANTEE they will sieze your property if you don''t pay.
Even the IRS will sieze your property if you don''t pay your taxes to the IRS.
Maybe they TELL you you "own" it. But if they can sieze it for non-payment for taxes, THEY own it, and they''re just renting it to you. - Reply to this comment

- Drastic times demands DRASTIC measure:
What the U.S. Government will not tell you is that the "alternative" is inevitable. Instead of placing a band-aid over a massive dismemberment, the government should prepare for a complete restructure plan after the dust settles:
- Sell affordable gold and silver coinage to the public (to maintain a barter currency for those who were responsible enough to save U.S. promissory notes).
- Allow Real Estate Industry to belly-up (an economic illusion of appreciation created by greedy banks).
- Sieze the White House, SEC, U.S. Supreme Court for treason.
- Eliminate Law Enforcement Agencies/ and call the
Military to maintain martial law.
- Allow the corporate giants to crumble.
- Throw all the CEOs, with cooked books, in jail
(to set an example of this corruption and national subversion of the U.S. Constitution).
IN THAT ORDER ... otherwise, the Rich Powerful Politicians will consume all the gold and create Socialist/ Communist government. - Reply to this comment
- txgrouch2006, It is the same here in OZ, and I would think most progressive countries. They have to pay for roading etc somehow.. I dont see anything wrong with these taxes as long as they do not keep putting them up but do nothing as they seem to be happening..

- I know in Texas that if you do not pay your property taxes to all the taxing entities, the government will do a tax forclosure and sell your home. Then you will be out on the streets. There is no such thing as owning your own property in Texas. The State owns it.

Isn''t it that way in ALL states? - Reply to this comment
- krisd999,Gorbachev said many years ago, "communism has not finished as some in the west has said, all we have done is changed out tactics".
Communism/socialism/Fabian are all identical twins, just with a few different spots. look it up on the net and while you are there look up the Fabian society. What they intend for us all sounds good but they intend for us to not own our own homes to work for them etc, or sorry for the corporate betterment of the people.. They say that we are slaves to capitalism but if we become communistic we are totally slaves, we own nothing, do nothing and are nothing, we cannot strive to do better for ourselves and we can not have goals which is what we thrive on, as our work all goes to the state.. Humans need goals, need to be able to look to the future for themselves, it would be terrible to be like the Russians were... - Reply to this comment
- BajaJohn1, do you have a left winged state government there. What will happen when and if your federal government changes and you get a left wing givernment in. Here in Australia we have had a left wing government in all states for many years. In the last year since we have had our federal elections and we have gone from a right winged federal government to a left winged government, all our states are totally stuffed even though we have just had many years of a massive boom times.. however, a couple of weeks ago one of the states has just gone right..

- EIGHT YEARS FROM NOW (IF our country still exists)
The US dollar will be worthless on the foreign market. We will be unable to buy ANY imports. Manufacturing will be forced to move back here OUT OF NECESSITY. We will become a self-sufficient and independent economy.
Foreign countries will cease to buy our bonds. Once we cease buying their exports to support their economy, they have no reason to continue lending money to us to prop up our sham economy. All deficit spending will cease.
Foreign sham economies that have been scavenging off ours will either sink or swim without us. Some or all will collapse, and they will cease to pose a threat of foreign competition in ANY market.
Credit will be unobtainable in this country. We will be forced to live within our means. If we want something expensive, we will have to SAVE OUR PENNIES and buy it out of savings.
There will be a mass exodus of recent immigrants when they realize things are better back home. So they%u2019ll go back home.
Illegal workers will stop at the border and ask themselves, %u201CIs it REALLY worth the trip? Things STINK there.%u201D
Even the lowest paying jobs will become available to PERSONS WHO WERE BORN HERE. And we%u2019ll take them because WE HAVE NOWHERE TO GO BACK TO.
In other words, WE WILL BE FORCED TO DO WHAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING ALL ALONG. But instead of doing it by choice, we will be FORCED INTO IT THE SLOW AND PAINFUL WAY. - Reply to this comment
