- ''Although, some lesbians do like wearing men''''s clothes and want to act like men (I can''''t explain that one).''
It''s a common misunderstanding that transgenderism is only a male-to-female phenomenon. There are also people who are born women who have gender reassignment surgery to become male. The same mentality that subscribes to the ''*** are icky but lesbians are hot'' school of thought can also more easily understand why a woman might want the ''empowerment'' of becoming male but not fathom why a man would want to give that up to become a woman. It isn''t just straights who think like that - many gay men think M to F transgendered people are really just gay men trying to somehow reconcile their true homosexuality (which is utter BS). - Reply to this comment
- I have a friend at work who goes every summer with his family and stays in a cabin close to Trinidad. They just love that town. They said that everyone brings their dogs into the restaurants and everyone in town is super nice.

- I about half expected to read that "the *** change capital of the U.S." was Minneapolis-St. Paul - seeing as how Republicans are so good at concealing their true intentions and all.

- tmittelstead - Thank you for trying to be compassionate. Unfortunately, you confuse transsexuality with homosexuality. It''s something distinctly different. Also, you''re misinformed about surgery outcomes. Something like 90% or more of post-op women are orgasmic now days. And if society weren''t so bigoted about trans people, maybe we wouldn''t be so lonely.
mydiatribe - Ultimate? Worse than murder? Worse than infanticide? I think you might be sensationalizing things here.
Questionnews - The Mr./Ms. Garrison episodes were rather unfortunate for the trans community, all things considered. There are many of us that lead very normal lives, nothing at all like that idiocy. - Reply to this comment
- dakotaclark - Don''t see many doctors doing *any* surgeries for free, do you? Also, you might not realize it, but there are quite a number of underweight, good-looking cute guys who go through reassignment surgery. And guess what they turn into? Underweight, good-looking, cute girls. You''re right in one thing, however: gender reassignment doesn''t solve problems like being overweight, being underemployed, being an underachiever, and so forth.

- sdqueen2000 - They''ve been doing gender reassignment there for 40 years. Has nothing to do with the state turning Blue from Red. Gender reassignment generally isn''t done as a political choice or political statement.
Loyalto1 - Most of them have probably seen psychologists prior to gender reassignment. When a person has gotten to the point of deciding to have surgery, psychologists and psychotherapy and praying and medications and meditation have probably all turned out to have not been the answer.
robertkjjj - Contrary to your ranting, evidence shows that many of them will be happy afterwards. Gender reassignment has a very high satisfaction rate, actually. Also, knowing many trans people myself, I can tell you that many of us are happy, fairly well-adjusted people. And most people who have gender reassignment are pretty confident that they know what s''ex they should be. Have you actually sat down and thought about the

- donnie877 at 02:12 PM : Sep 08, 2008 - "Are you telling me that scientists nowadays can just be shown a brain? And tell if its male or female?"
Absolutely. Providing it''s adult, not damaged, etc. etc. It''s easy, there are many differences. Heck, just look at the BSTc layer of the hypothalamus, guys have one pattern, gals another.
Transsexual women - those born with somewhat male bodies - have the gal pattern.
Our imaging techniques are not good enough to see the physical differences except at autopsy. But what we can do is use fMRI to see the functional differences in live people. Guys have one pattern, gals another. Again, TS people show cross-gendered brain function in many areas, ambiguous in others. - Reply to this comment
- I do not deny that there are masculine men feminine males and *** whom cross dress.
but transgender is not about sexual preference. (Gay, homosexual, lesbian)
It''s about gender (balls and a bat, or a bun and a hole). - Reply to this comment

- An afterthought to what you just said is, why do many gay men act feminin if they don''''t want to be a woman? - Posted by sillywilly4
Like with straights, there are many and I mean MANY types of gay people: queers, twinks, drag queens, transgender, bears, cubs, jocks, lipstick chicks, *****, fems also known as queens, and circuit/party boys to name a few.
The fems have that extra hormone that females have that make them act like girls. I, for one, don''t like it and it bugs the h ell out of me, but hey, I guess it takes all kinds. And I don''t let it bother me too much. - Reply to this comment
- And by the way, dressing up in drag for Halloween is a totally different thing. Straight men do it all the time (badly).

- You know of no gay person that wants to dress up in womens clothing or that wants a *** operation and you know a lot of them. You must not know many of them as you say or your lying. many want to dress up in womens clothing or mens as i see many lesbians do. - posted by sillywilly4
That''s right sillywilly. As a gay man myself (okay, I''m coming out on the web), I, nor my other hundreds of gay friends want to dress up in women''s clothes or be a woman cause it''s not about that. We love men. We want to be with men. Although, some lesbians do like wearing men''s clothes and want to act like men (I can''t explain that one). I''m sure in your every day life you encounter gay people all the time and you don''t even know it. - Reply to this comment

- I am appaled that the people in the US cannot comprehend this. I am ashamed that people feel this way. It''s no wonder special legislation has to be passed for employment. I have always judged people on their abilits their work perofrmance, compassion, and values in the work place. What the wear, whom they sleep with or what they prefere should not be a drect reflection of employment. This is the reason many of the special legislation for discrimonation in the work place needs to be passed.
If you are disgusted with this, I truly hope that no-one in your family is cursed with being intersexed or transgender for they will surely have a harsh life and I pray that they do not become sucidial.
This is more common than many think 1 in 10,000 births. - Reply to this comment
- It has been a hard road. I have tried to live as a male but to no avail as most seem me as female.
The problem is not with being gay as that is sexual preference, and gender is gender. It has cost me a great deal.
In response to a lonly life, I would have to say that a life is better than no life and my faith does not allow me to take my own life. But to be able to face the world every day and feel good about the person you are is the best in the world. Much like a woman who has breast augumentation,or anyother cosmetic procedure.
for the rest.. well I cannot begain to describe the problems I have had since my body stopped producing testostrone, and things have been changing. I feel the biggest item is this is something that can only be delt with for a period of time,. it''s not a psych. problem. it''s about being. 1 in 10,000 are born with some kind of sexual defect. they and we have been fixed molded cut, and changed to be presentable to the world as a whole. Becuse if this we now fit society as deemed by an out of date reference to John Mooney. - Reply to this comment
- I only saw a portion of the show on Sunday.
I was born intersexed, not told about it and when I tried to have children I found out that I could not father or mother children.
You seen I was born with both, operated on at seven weeks, changed to male because of the size of a protusion. When I was in my thirties I started growing breasts. It was then that I found out more about me and the butcher job the Air Force Doctors did on me. - Reply to this comment
