A thought for all you Christian/America bashers,

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Is this an America our war dead would be proud of?

How so?

Have we been worth their sacrifice?

I hope people are paying attention to McCain''s Flag Waving today & his rhetoric.

"Need time to save Iraq", he says. "From the Wreckage of our past mistakes" ----------- LOL

It''s his GOP''s Iran Contra wacko''s & lobbyists who got us into it.

McBush now says, he "detests & hates war" - "Only a fool or a fraud sentimentalizes the merciless reality of war"

Yet he did nothing to stop it, never questioned the White House on it, doesn''t want taxes to pay for it & wants war with Iran & no plan for ending the one in Iraq.

Once again a history of Arlington Cemetery with no mention of the Armed Forces Ladies Auxiliary.
When my mothers, sisters and I interred our career Air Force father in 1993 we were surprised to see a strange lady sitting not far from us.
We subsequently learned that she was a volunteer from the Air Force Ladies Auxiliary, one of whom attends every interment for the appropriate service.
This started when a woman was burying her husband and saw another burial close by. With the serviceman''s family unable financially to attend, there was no one there except the honor guard.
She felt that no one should ever be buried alone and started this volunteer group. They should be recognized and saluted for their kind and appreciated service.

May the memories be somber for those (living) who have suffered sacrifice.

May the afterlife be SEVERELY PAINFUL for those who have created the reason for such sacrifices!

That''s good news. I was merely reporting the article, which was well written and beautiful: about who soldiers are, who warriors are, and what they''re relationship to society is.

I disagree, though, that this society does as good a job integrating our soldiers back into mainstream society as it should. Our soldiers are warriors, with full mythic implications. That''s the only way they can survive being asked to do the things they are asked to do ''for our defense'': by, in a sense, becoming mythic creatures. We owe them that, at least, when they are re-integrated into our society. That we will treat them as the mythic warriors they are, and reintegrate them into society in a way that includes that primordial role they''ve been asked to play.

I don''t think that''s been happening, and society has been the poorer for it.
