While i do not believe in organized religion, I do believe that good deeds propagate good deeds. i give of my time to many charities, without religious backing. most wars are directly related to religiou differences, have been, will be. we can only do our best as a single person to try and make the world a better place no matter what faith. And comments like yours, about giving it to the preacher, just show that you have a long way to go towards being a tolerant, good human being.

I just cant fathom how anti christian posters can spew their venomous hatred so candidly without thought. There are literally thousands of christian based help organisations that work almost everywhere help is needed around the world."

Jankebenz"

Simple, Ill explain it in one paragraph or less;

a few ''meals on wheels'' soup lines and habitat for humanity houses dont hardly even come close to making up for the CENTURIES of death, murder, torture, jailings, beheadings, hanging, burnings, subversions, biggotry, hate, bloodshed, child molestation, forcing money out of people in the old days, blackmail; pay X dollars as a fine/penance for crime against nature, sunday blue laws used against NON believers and others, and all the rest the catholic/christian/CHURCH has propagated!!!

Ill tithe alright, BEND OVER pastor, cause here ''it'' comes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If religion was actually practiced as preached, the world would be a much better place, but throw in the human nature and it is destine to become one more tragedy.

Everybody sees God in their own way. To Jerry Falwell, God is a fat man in a bad suit that picks up the dinner check.

There''s also a passage in the Bible that says it''s a sin to deny a worker a fair wage. The right-wing republican christian capitalists need to pay special attention to that one. Do you people think that it''s a good thing to keep widening the gap in this country? What could possibly be christian about raising prices
of goods and utility''s so high as to make it impossible for the masses to make ends meet? Why should millions of people be put in a position of not being able to pay their bills so that Exxon can have record profits? If you make it impossible for the slaves to get to the field, who''ll bring in the crops?
Then along comes a narcisstic pastor to tell you the if you give ten per cent that it''ll come back to you.In this economy, how dare they! Religion is nothing but a scam invented by men to be supported by the innocent and gullible. And religion is also the number one killer of relationships with God.

Just ask Pat Robertson, or Jerry Fallwell, or any of those guys, and they will tell you that PT was the smartest guy that ever lived.

According to history, Solomon was the smartest man in the world at any time.
P.T. Barnum did not die as the richest man in the world, Solomon did,, (and he was GODs man)

Tithes are not manditory unless you wish to do GODs will. and they are not to be given when it will hurt someone. You cannot enforce tithing as it has to be a personal choice, The ancient priesthood wrote their desires into the inspired script trying to line their own pockets. BTW tithing is all GOD put into his commands, He also suggested that you give and when you can, give ''sacrificially''. This is above and beyond tithing.
Helping others has been in GODs plan from the beginning but he never intended that you end up needing help more than those you were helping. That would be counter-productive.

Forget the Bible.
If you want to know the truth about church and money, listen to PT Barnum.
"There is a sucker born every minute."

Just ask Pat Robertson, or Jerry Fallwell, or any of those guys, and they will tell you that PT was the smartest guy that ever lived.

I AM AGNOSTIC,WHATEVER THAT MEANS. bUT I HAVE 2 DAUGHTERS THAT HAVE BECOME A PART OF THE BAPTIST FAITH. THEY DO NOT DO DRUGS,DRINK,SWEAR,SLEEP AROUND AND THEY HAVE BEEN ON MANY SELF FUNDED MISSIONS TRIPS. I HAVE A GRIEVENCE AGAINST THEIR RELIGION AS IT IS TOO JUDGEMENTARY, BUT I WOULD RATHER HAVE MY GIRLS AS THEY ARE THAN TO BE FAITHLESS AND DEAD IN THE STREETS. THEY TITHE,AND WHEN I SEND THEM MONEY, AS THEY ARE IN COLLEGE, I KNOW SOME GOES TO THE CHURCH. A GIFT IS A GIFT, AND WHOEVER WANTS TO GIVE,BE IT TO THE CHURCH OR PETA,THEY HAVE THE FREE WILL AND RIGHT TO DO IT.

I remember the old slogan "Tithe at 5(%)." My, have churches gotten greedy! But I guess it does take more money to produce marketing literature, get camera ready (teeth whitening is expensive!) and power all the electricity needed in those megachurches. I guess that extra 5% is being well-used to better minister the poor, right?

"Tithe is voluntary."
Posted by rn2501

One fails to see the voluntary in Malachi 3:8, KJV, that states: "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings."

Your taking a step towards apostleship
Posted by rn2501

What! and stand by and do or say nothing to counter the lies and enuendo that I see here.
Posted by jankebenz at 04:29 PM

Yah sure,ok,whatever.
Posted by jankebenz at 03:23 PM

What apostleship approves of "countering" anything with not-temperate responses in the face of mild challenges? How are lies countered best? Your "lie" might be someone else''s misunderstanding. Better to let the Light shine than to splash out with what is actually ''counter''productive.

It might be an interesting measure to think that, like a cup, whatsoever it is full of, when jostled, that is what splashes out.

Unlike rRn2501, I submit that there might be better ways toward apostleship than reactiveness.

The highest paid members in American Society have a culture of tithing. The Jewish Population!

A pastor once asked all those who have paid there tithes in financial trouble, stand up. No one did.

I tithed and Yahweh told me in a dream to buy a tax certificate for $1,500 for a property worth $5million, still in the journey. It is zoned for condos are senior housing.

I want to put a talking bible billboard on the property as well. Website is Listenbible.com

lies? have i told any lies? good you are standing up for all that made america great. while you''re at it, why not add cheating the red man out of their land, and enslaving people. see, if you are truly seeking honesty, you will acknowledge missteps in america''s past. i am glad that we have people like you to tell us all what is moral and just.

Tithe is voluntary. The Levites put a box at the entrance of the temple and those who could give, gave. Nowhere was their a band of "brothers" handing out baskets. Titheing is voluntary, not required. Give what you can, or in the widows case, give your all. Just thinking. servant rn

What! and stand by and do or say nothing to counter the lies and enuendo that I see here. Not a chance! I took a stand for Jesus many years ago and because of that I stand for truth morality, justice, family, conventional marriage, honor, ect, attributes america once stood for.

The only comment I have is: If God can run the entire world on 10%, why does our government need more than that to run just the US?

Lets talk about Tithing here, Church is Man made not God made, and if Christians want to Tithe for the betterment of our Human Race then that is their decision..GOD BLESS THEM!
Posted by Roebleu

Sorry Roebleu for getting off track. Sometimes threads branch to tangents based on seemingly unimportant comments such as: "if we are sinful wasn''t it God who sinned first?" Because now I''m tempted to bring up a perspective on potentiality v actuality & the " Euthyphro dilemma" to answer address it.
