- "I also would like to thank these fallen soldiers and their families for the sacrifices that were made for me and my family."
Well, unless you have lots of stock in Halliburtin, Big Oil, and believed in the you''re-on-you-own wish list of the War Presnit, then the soldiers'' deaths did not benefit you. - Reply to this comment
- How quickly those that should know and remember actually do. Far too many get confused on the reality of Veteran''s Day vs Memorial Day. It''s really pretty cimple.
Memorial Day, a day for honoring and remembering military personnel who died in service to their country, especially those who died in battle or as a result of wounds from those battles.
Veterans Day, on the other hand, is set aside to thank and honor each and every person that served honorably in the military , in war or peace. Veterans Day is intended to thank those living veterans for their service. We acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated. It''s also an underscore to the fact that all those who served , not just those who died , have sacrificed and done their duty.
If you''re going to raise the prospect of a day to honor who/which, then please take the time to look up before saying a falsehood as a fact.
As far as the numbers killed in Iraq/Afghanistan, rather silly and shallow when more than 17,000 die eac hear in DWI/DUI accidents. Where''s the outrage on that amount of deaths? Or is there an underlying agenda? It''s ok to die in Alcohol related accidents, in numbers 4 time the total deaths overseas, but in only 1 year? Or is it more convenient to just forget those victims who are not soldiers, sailors and airmen? - Reply to this comment

- I couldn''t agree more with honoring the fallen, but as far as Veterans Day goes it''s not a Nationally observed holiday. Yes, there are some parades and ceremonies around the country, but the bulk of Americans go to work and maintain their normal work schedule.
Veterans Day should be a day like Christmas when EVERYTHING in the country is shut down. The greedmonger Republicans who sing "God Bless America" the loudest with the flag waving in the background can shut down their businesses and honor the many men and women who have served and died for this nation for one d a m n day out of each year without going to the poor house. And for foreign owned companies on our soil, to bad buddy, we are ALLOWING you to do business here and you will shut down on Veterans Day. Period. That''s how it should be. - Reply to this comment
