So if you approve of cheating on your wife and having babies out of wedlock (guess there wasn''t too much child support going on there) does that make you a liberal? Some people just believe in being responsible...I agree, it''s not always the popular thing.

Never mind...

Windows Vista can"t copy multiple lines the way XP could. The links are OK.

That last URL didn"t work for some reason.

Maybe this one will...

"Why"d he get fired? Does he say in his book?"

He wasn"t fired. Just downsized.

Here he is on Youtube. Perhaps the title of the book should have been "How writing and publishing a successful book saved my life."

Don"t knock it. Art is salvation, according to Marcel Proust. And writing is a form of art.

I''m an ex-JWT employee, like the subject of this story. Twenty years, increasing responsibility, international assignments, the biggest clients, etc. One day, called into the HR director''s office ... thanks, you''re done. Don''t feel sorry for me, or anyone who loses their job to corporate downsizing. We all need a plan B - a second career, what we''re going to do when a corporation wants to reduce cost, get younger, etc. Starbucks, consulting, something totally different, whatever. My children will not have the luxury that many others had - a pension, lifetime employment, loyalty. Only a few in the ad business have anything besides a small severance package - a month salary per year of service and pay your own health care costs. I admire Mr Gill. I also found a job/career where I can use my skills to give. My pay has gone from six figures to an amount that necessitates draining the 401(k) to pay the mortgage, college, and put food on the table. I look forward to the downsizing/simplification so I can be more of the person I want to be.

"I just checked Snopes.com and while Starbucks said they do support the Marines they could not donate coffee due to company policy."

There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

After seeing this story, I went out today and bought the last book on the shelf. This story was an inspiration as I, at 46, have recently left my creative job. When you look around one day and realize no one has your back, then what? I don''t know what has happened to the world today, it''s sad the way we have become such a "me" society. I chose to look at the world around me - and pay it forward. I believe as the song goes, in the end, only kindness matters.

I found the story of interest and decided to order the book to read more about his life prior to being a barista at the corner coffee shop.

yaaawwwnnn, what a real-life cheating, rich-bred, mooching, give-me-everything, i-am-the-greatest ******. All I was expecting was that he won some $250Million Lottery and donated it to Starbucks "Save the Millionaires" club, at the end of the fish-tale.
