A Closer Look At The Long History Behind Politics and Religion In America
- prayer4u2 and other writes how many of the standard fair of America, Star Spangled Banner, etc, reference god.
It is an easy thing to invoke god especially when the "rockets red flare" is drawing close. But that does not make it a religious song/poem. Only that he invoked god a couple of time because Francis was raised as a Christian...and not because he discovered it Christian faith, but because he was brainwashed into it just has his parents and ancestors had.
Religion has no place in our common government. - Reply to this comment

- I read an article somewhere about how younger church goers have different concerns than their elders. While their parents are obsessed about *** and abortion, they instead are much more concerned with the enviroment and peace.
I then sat back, lit up my "cigar" and thought to myself, "Yeah, baby, the future is here". - Reply to this comment

US Constitution 1st Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
Feel free, fellow citizen, to sing any song, and frequent any church, synagogue, mosque, or synod but do not allow our system of government to be poisoned by intolerance, bigotry, and hatred. History has shown us this. Our Founders have spared us from it.
Let every man practice God''s teachings, but refrain from building momuments, like a government, to Him. That was surely not His wish.
And those man who wish to appear to lead "in God''s name" should remember His commandment;
"You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
Bewaere of those claiming to act "in His name" - we have seen what the result has been these last 7 years.

O.K. people a few 1000 years ago needed to explaine the world. Come into the 21st century. Science has show us the truth. Most of the mystery of the world has been discovered and explained. The world is not flat. The earth is not the center of the universe. And god is not real. As for in being a part of the government. Well it needs to stay clear. Just look at other countries that the government imposes there version of god. ie Iran, Saudia Arabia, Iraq, Afghanistan , and Israil. Would any one of us like to live like that? When a government is ruled by one flavor of god, it will always exclude all others. It is a no win for most, not just a few. What has always made the U.S.A. so strong is we do our best to include everyone not exclude most. - Reply to this comment
- Notice that Newsweek doesn''t condemn the rejection of a candidate for having religious faith, any religious faith. THAT''S OK! They start squealing when their favorite candidate has failed. They''re no different than anyone else and their references to historic persons and documents don''t fool me.

- In God is our Trust is a KeyPhrase in the last verse of The Star-Spangled Banner: "Oh! Thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war%u2019s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the Heaven-rescued land (that''''s U.S.) Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! (that''''s HIM!)

- 1st Amendment is freedom of religion not politics. The word politics is not to be found in the U.S. Constitution.

- Not believing in religion does not make you an atheist. Religion separates us from God and from each other. Jesus defied religion and now religion defies His teachings. A true Christian finds God in their heart ... not in a church where they can learn to believe in the dogma of fools who think they know better than the Master Mind Jesus what our relationship to God is all about. If Huckleberry has no respect for our Constitution ... before he is elected ... what can we expect from him after he is elected?

First, paris, I love your post! It is so accurate and honest, it is unfortunate that (especially the first four sentences) are not repeated regularly on these boards.
Second, Huckabee will not be elected.
By now (I hope), the majority of Americans realize that governing by a staunch ideology (ANY ideology), as opposed to logic...
...is more destructive to a nation than any other outside force/entity. - Reply to this comment
