Nancy,

I could not believe my eyes this morning. I also had taken the trip to Jamaica Savings Bank and opened a junior bank account when I was a kid. I would never have thought about EJ Korvettes again either. Thanks for bringing back memories of a more fun and innocent time!

Ms. Giles, I have long enjoyed your opinion segments. Unfortunately your segment on the UCLA student and her U tube video grossly overlooked some very important facts. If you acknowledge the omissions you made in the commentary you did on the UCLA student and her U tube video, then I will be willing to watch future segments you have on Sunday Morning. I will also be willing to consider buying products being advertised using your voice in the commercials. If you do not acknowledge your omissions publicly, then I will change the channel when your segments come on and I will not buy any products you promote.

Following are some of the omissions I want you to take responsibility for: 1. Before you did this segment, this student had already issued a retraction, and an apology for her U tube video. (I believe her apology is sincere) 2. She had removed her U tube video and any future broadcast of it was by other people, including you. 3. Prior to your piece she had received thousands of attacks via e- mail, U tube, in person and through other media including from you. 4. She received death threats. 4. She was driven off campus, and out of town. 5. She was forced to drop out of school because of the death threats and the release of her home addresses both at school and her parents address. 5. Racism of any kind is hurtful. Racism from a Caucasian young woman and from an African American middle aged woman, namely you, is not acceptable. 6. Though ignorance, cultural insensitivity, and stupidity are constitutionally protected, death threats and threats of any violence ARE A CRIME.

You couched you "racist attack" segment in the guise of a piece on freedom of speech. All I saw in your segment was the spreading of more hate, separation, racism and intolerance. I believe someone of your stature and national voice has a huge responsibility to help advance the positive qualities of a populous. Look at how many people you reach. Maybe you should consider using this national platform you have to offer alternatives to intolerance and racism, rather than spreading it. I'm "just saying".

Nancy,

re: your piece on the UCLA Youtube student & comment: 'If you don't have anything nice to say, ...'.

Let me state first, as a father I have made that statement to my children many times: 'If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all'.

But, have you considered, that getting these ill prejudices out of the closet and into the public eye, actually is helping all of us move forward in eliminating or reducing them. Remember Archie Bunker? Watching him as a kid, I saw how silly some of his character's prejudices really were, and they affected my core in the most positive of ways.

Additionally, the young lady, now that she has expressed her feelings and ideas; now that she has brought them out of the closet; now that she can view herself expressing those feelings; will receive feedback from people who think like her and think unlike her. It may take a little time, but I believe she will eventually (and if her feelings remained in the closet she would not), see that her basic lack of understanding and/or fear of Asians and Asian culture will help her grow as a person. By going public, she has now placed herself out there and she will have to re-evaluate her position everyday as she absorbs the positive and negative feedback she is now subject to. She now has to look in the mirror. She has no choice. Her moral center is now engaged and I believe your interview with her 5 years hence, will show a person who was forced to move her moral sensitivities faster than any person who has NOT put them self out there publicly.

Have you ever seen any of John Cleese's business training video's?

All the best,
Dan

Nancy, listening to your ultra liberal dribble on Sunday Morning has become very entertaining. It's unfortunate that they choose not to have any balance to the opinion portion of the show. An opposing opinion would most likely shorten your stint on the show, but would most certainly enhance your standing as a comedian. Why do entertainers feel compelled to share their political opinions with the general public. I guess they think we care. NEWS FLASH - WE DON'T!

Nancy-

Glad to see you pick up on the Alexandra Wallace story. I've been following since the beginning and it has really blown up. Sadly, I don't think it rises to the level of death threats that Ms. Wallace has received or that fact that she apparently had to withdraw from UCLA. Insensitive and stupid, yes....punishable by death, uh, not really. I wish you had been able to focus a little on the responses to her original post. By far, the best I have seen is this one with over 2.5M hits. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zulEMWj3sVA

Your comment that you liked freedom of speech, because you had this job because of freedom of speech is not correct. You have that job at CBS because your a BLACK FEMALE.
Since when does the rant of a college student at UCLA have anything to do with anything? It doesnt, but CBS made it something by giving it some air time.
But, lets talk about something more serious and more racists then the dumb ass UCLA students comments.
If the High Court says that a Racist's Church can protest the funeral of dead soldiers, then why are we concentrating on a student rant?
CBS - ABC - NBC should try to use their resources and power of influence to better the world, instead of stirring up ****. In my opinion, the liberal media is part of the problem and not part of the solution.

I watched your segment this morning and found it interesting that you ended it with "If you have nothing nice to say, you shouldn't say anything" but found it necessary to say that Rush Limbaugh is a clown. I have no opinion toward Mr. Limbaugh and do find the college student's comments disgusting but found it amusing that you called him a clown and then ended your segment how you did. Shouldn't we heed that advice regardless of our political views?

Nancy, Regarding your commentary today, about 45 years ago I cut a little piece out of the Arizona republic. It was labeled "Todays Chuckle". Todays Chucle said "The fastest way to loose your shirt is to put too much on the cuff". I still have that clipping in my wallet today.

Dear Nancy, I just read your bio...are you that sultry voice doing the voice-over for Sally Field's Boniva commercial? I've been trying to find out who she is for years! Love that voice.

Dear Nancy, For a long time I've wanted to tell you that I love (and heartily and laughingly agree with) your commentaries on the Sunday Morning Show. I would like to hear you on the show more often! Susan
