ejam, why are you making assumptions that Burning Man is populated by a bunch of eco leftist hippies that care enough to begin with to be labeled hypocrites on the topic of global warming? Considering that the vast majority of attendees are utilizing their vacation time from work to attend, why is a trek to the desert for that vacation any different than say a trek to some more mainstream vacation destination like Disney in Orlando? Oh I know... at Disney, you don''t have to think, create, participate or care about your neighbors.

Why you are trying to paint some picture of environmental irresponsibility on a group of travelers that number less than 50k for the weeks around the event when a theme park network like Disney in Orlando can draw in over 200k people a day? Do you spend a proportionate amount of time bemoaning the resources consumed and pollution generated by the 2 to 3 million people that go through Disney Orlando in the same time span as the handful of people trekking to and living in the desert for 2 weeks?

Is there anything at all accomplished at Disney that benefits anyone but shareholders and credit card companies collecting the interest on the thousands spent by each family for the trip?
