What has she ever done? What message does this send to our young daughters?

Bitterness, jealousy & truth have all different flavors, its the case of life is a sh*t sandwich and every day you have to bite off a huge portion and gag it down, I prefer to choose which and what I will gag down thank you very much.

Anna Nicole Smith has had more pri@ks in her than a porcupine, and there is still more to come. Imagine the books that will be generated out of this? Entire nations can get economic aid simply by saying their leaders did her and decided to write about it? Heck with all the trouble dubya has had lately, he probably will need money for a good attorney to help him at his war crimes trial, he will write a "tell all" book including her as well!!!!

I have never been so moved to comment on any story. While I agree with Nancy that the news coverage on the Anna Nicole Smith story WAS out of control, I somehow expected more compassion. For Nancy Giles to imply that Anna ( a human being ) had made no contibution in her life or was of no worth was a travesty.

She perhaps made some poor choices in her life. Who among us has not?

She had recently given birth to a beautiful daughter and lost a young son. How would Nancy or I have handled these conflicting events?

Perhaps one day, when Nancy and I are enjoying our retirements and are sitting, rocking and reading the news, we will be reading about Anna Nicole Smith's daughter having been elected President of the United States. How then will we see Anna's contribution?

To the feminist Pazia:

So she was exploited as a woman and is not responsible for the life she led. I don't think anyone pointed a gun to her head and said take your clothes off and marry a 89 year old oil tycoon. You're probably young and naive, so you'll catch on when you enter the real world when you're older.

This belongs on the obits of the Miami Herald and that's it. This is not front page news. Just another drug addict who threw their pathetic life away. It would be nice to see some actual journalists do some actual investigative journalism once and awhile, but that probably hasn't happened since the Harding Administration.

I too have never been moved to post a comment in response to a CBS story, but this morning's piece by Nancy Giles has changed that. THANK YOU Nancy Giles for saying everything I would have liked to say if I had a national outlet. As it is, I have only been ranting in my living room every time "journalists" are reduced to spending precious time between commercials informing us of nothing more than the demise of another bimbo.

There is so much in this world that we need to be informed about. Just during the time that has already been given to this latest "disaster", how many other young mothers have passed away in total anonymity? What makes a person newsworthy? Is it blonde hair, fake boobs, a litany of possible father's for their children? Is this what makes fame in 2006? Please don't answer...I already know.

Thank you for pointing out or suggesting that we care about any of these "celebs" because this is what the media puts out for all to hear and read about.
The truely sad thing about Anna Nicole's death will be the story of her sad life that her daughter will grow up with.
As a white woman, I am tired of the image that Americans envy of the Anna Nicoles, Paris Hiltons, and Britney Spears. Reach higher....look for gals with positive lifestyles and how about some kind of talent.

NANCY, YOU ARE AN EXCEPTIONAL VISIONARY.

As for your piece on the recently deceased Queen of Bimbo, it was intelligent, insightful, incisive and far from harsh, racist or overly critical. I am amazed by the comments here.

This media blitz about the deceased blonde joke is a symptom of the epidemic of stupidity raging in the US. Stupidity and dysfunction are in. Intelligence and candor are out. How else could people in the US live with themselves in the current state of affairs? We allow our adolescents to be assassinating gang members. We allow our government to abandon its citizens in natural disasters. We begrudge paying taxes for health care and education for the poor. We allow our military to colonize and terrorize a small foreign power for its natural resources. We support a state in the Middle East which practices apartheid on the basis of religion. We allow the government to subvert our own working class with illegal immigration.

If we identify with the stupid, selfish and narcissistic, if we elevate them to positions of honor and respect, we can then honor and respect all that is wrong with the way we are living our own lives. If we tear down ideals, morals, higher principles, by elevating the stupid, mean and addicted, we can be complacent and self-satisfied. And we can pretend to look down on these celebrities when it suits us, because that is what they would do.

Keep up the courageous, funny and insightful work.
