I am a small software business (15 employees) and I have two problems; one is a government that doesn't function and worse, no qualified candidates who want to work. I have had to outsource 3 jobs to Ireland, software development, because I can't find candidates that will work at USA wages(40+ PAID hours per week). We have a lazy and uneducated workforce. I am paying less and getting more because my government and fellow Americans want me to. Sad.

Was this rambling mess supposed to be an article? WTH IS THIS?

Worst garbage I have read in awhile...

Where did the jobs go? TELL US! Get some real numbers on what kind of wage was lost here. Tell us where it went and what these corporations are paying over there in other countries.

From the article: The Sonic will be the only sub-compact built in America. But making it here instead of Mexico or Asia, where wages are much lower, required driving some hard bargains with the UAW. New hires start at about $16 an hour, half the usual salary."You've got to be competitive and you've got to be cost-conscious," said Johnson.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOL LOL ... well that's just incredibly naive. What's the going rate in Asia and Mexico? It's not $16 I'll bet you that.

Which means this plant got built because of Government protectionism. Probably the bailout money and the zero interest rate loans were conditioned up on them building and keeping a plant in the US rather than building and keeping it in Mexico.

People who get paid less in other countries don't buy cars for $35,000. They pay $6000 or whatever supply and demand sets it at.

Look, the people in Washington have to decide which way they want to go with their trade policy - if they want to use tariffs to create and keep jobs in the US, then do that. If they want wages to be driven down so that they ACTUALLY match those in Asia and Mexico, then do that. And Corporations need to lower their sales expectations to match - and start selling cars at the rate they go for in Asia ... pennies on the dollar, just like the living wage ...

Total leadership vacuum in Washington when it comes to trade ideology ... seriously ... what the heck ...

Part of the cause of the loss of private sector jobs is due to the idiotic health care law. The stupid law imposes huge expenses and additional regulation on businesses in 2014, and many businesses are putting the cash away to pay for this nonsense rather than hire workers. This, combined with the total lack of confidence in the US economy (thanks to the lousy policies of President Obama) is absolutely killing the job market.

Instead of using the tried and proven methods of restoring the economy, President Obama decided to experiment with the American people - and we have not come out of this. We know what works, but President Obama refused to use Reagan's methods.

To those who continue to state that Reaganomics did not work, here are some figures:

Forbes 07/27/11: Louis Woodhill
"Whether in Greece or in the U.S., the impact of government policies shows up first and fastest in total employment. Judged by jobs, Reaganomics worked. During the first two years of the Reagan recovery, total employment increased by 7.2 million. Given that Obamunism is the exact opposite of Reaganomics, one might expect that it would produce a terrible jobs situation — and it has.

In terms of total employment, the U.S. lost 0.7 million jobs during the first 24 months of Obama's recovery. The nation has never before had an economic expansion where total employment after two years of recovery was lower than it was at the end of the recession. In June 2011, America had 2.9 million fewer people working than when Obama was inaugurated. (By the same point in Reagan's presidency, our total number of jobs had increased by 0.7 million, equivalent to 1.0 million jobs after adjustment for today's higher population.)"

The American people SOLD their children's JOB market to the
HIGHEST BIDDING CORPORATIONS a LONG time AGO.

Remimber a smart American named Ross Perot?
About 20 years ago he would WARN the American people what
will happen if or when they don't care about the FUTURE.

Where have all the jobs gone? Mexico and China for starters. U.S. corporations are kill the American economy, so the CEO's can get rich beyond what anyone could every need. All free trade has done is export jobs.

A Big Reason for Dismal Job Growth
Corporations are sitting on piles of cash and no hiring is the normal state of business in America because there is NO DEMAND FOR PRODUCTS. The three engines of US economic growth — consumers, government and corporations — are radio silent right now. Consumers are still busy paying down the mountain of debt they accumulated over the past decade; the government is in big-time austerity mode after the debt/deficit negotiations; and corporations, which are making lots of money , are keeping the money, not boosting wages or creating jobs.
Consumers are tapped out and worried about their jobs. In the 1970's, 80's and 90's, the U.S. economy created more than 18 million jobs during each decade. But from 2000 to 2007, the economy added only 7 million jobs. The seven years before the great recession hit marked the worst business cycle we have on record as far as job creation goes. We have now faced about 11 years of really weak job growth.
Everyone knows people out of work, but the richest 400 people in the U.S. have as much wealth as the bottom 125 MILLION. The GOP still uses your tax dollars to ship our jobs overseas, tax breaks for Big Oil, 9 TRILLION in lost home equity which was the inheritance of the next generation, gone. The rich are laughing at you America, while we created 18 million jobs in each decade of the 70's, 80's and 90's, we are short 11 Million jobs in this decade. WHERE DID THEY GO?
GOOGLE HOW MANY JOBS WERE LOST OVER SEAS USING TAX DOLLARS TO BIG COMPANIES ?
5,160,000 HITS AND COUNTING, STILL THINK GOP HAS NOT SOLD YOUR JOBS AMERICA?
GOP and 400 of their closest friends are laughing all the way to the bank while the bottom 125 MILLION are wondering where the jobs have gone. Trickle down? Ask the bottom 125 MILLION how the concept of money in rich people's hands have worked out during the worst business cycle in 70 years and lowest tax rate in 60 years .

Regarding "WHERE HAVE ALL THE JOBS GONE?", the answer is EASY!!
All the jobs have gone to CHINA, PAKISTAN, INDIA, and MEXICO.
American corporations have been firing Americans as fast as
possible, during the past 15 years, and replacing them with
cheapo labor in the aforementioned nations. A MINIMUM of 5
MILLION JOBS have been lost this way, here it the USA. And
the really bad part about this is that these same corporations
have been getting BIG tax breaks every time they start up a
new factory in one of those nations!! Outrageous to the Nth
degree!!!

THE SOLUTION: Remove those tax breaks AND place high import
tariffs on all products they make in those countries with
the cheapo labor they have been using.
