I'm sure they did spend $222,000 renovating this one bathroom.

"There were leaks in the bathroom."

There is not enough oversight in any of the government departments to keep this kind of theft from taxpayers from happening.

Supposedly; under the current GSA; there is improved oversight to prevent this lavish unnecessary spending.

BS.!!!.

If there are leaks in any bathroom; in any government department they should be made to follow the same procedures taxpayers have to follow.

Have them get three estimates for repair costs and select the best qualified; lowest price of the three.

This is not brain surgery.!

This is a case of department heads having cronies in the GSA who will give them the money for anything their little hearts desire.

Just one more example of how corrupt and dysfunctional our government is.!!

This is the type of entitlement that needs cutting. Not the safety net for hard working Americans. Additionally, the MIC needs to be weened from the teat of taxpayers.

With an existing debt of more than 16 trillion dollars, I estimate that the money that the federal government is borrowing today will end up costing the tax payers 10 times the amount borrowed to repay over the next 170 years. Having to pay 10 times the going rate for goods and services is not a good deal. It is not good management.

Small dice in the era of 4trillion dollar deficits in the Obama Administration. Also how much has he lost in all the give-aways to the green energy firms that are run by his friends. That is ok though to you libs. Typical Chicago payback.

I think your sources are lying to you. Try double checking the actual DEFICIT not the DEBT. Also, the green programs were a success except for a battery company and solar energy company. That's two of thousands of grants. Not many investors can claim that rate of success.

"We can't afford, as taxpayers, the remodeling of bathrooms or any rooms that don't need to be remodeled."

For awhile, perhaps, we can't even afford to remodel bathrooms that DO need remodeling.

What bothers me most about things like this is that no one's conscience bothered them enough to evidently question what was going on - either the benefit recipient of this action or anyone along the way that knew something about it. Entitlement mentality reigns supreme.

And, vice versa.
Problem is, this same ole "ah,hahs" keeps going around and around and around, and the taxpayer keeps getting hosed. When will it stop? Can we EVER have honesty in government?

I am with Big and Another, this should not be political. No matter who is minding the store, it should not be acceptable.

It would never occur to me to do this with my own money, much less anyone else's money - its blatantly irresponsible.
