I was NEVER SO HAPPY to see the screaming Skler booted off AI. Yes she has energy on stage BUT its a singing competition not a I can sing "twang" and consider it music. A Carrie Underwood or Kellie Pickler she is NOT. Thought ColdPlay was great but why they were on a singing competition I will never know.... Carrie was ok but it seemed to be lacking something. Maybe she was wishing she was in Nashville cheering her husband on..... and on that "note" GO CAPS!!!!
I was totally surprised that Skyler was booted last night given that she is the only country oriented singer left on the show. Both my wife and I are big country music fans, but Skyler just screams everything she touchs - except a ballad a couple weeks ago that made me think she might be improving. She has lots of energy, and that provides lots of entertainment but unfortunately she is not in the league with the other singers. And I have been a big fan of Phillip's although he has been rather lackluster as of late. I hope that is due to illness and he revives his game. Holly is still there surprisingly, but not because of her abilities. She was absolutely fantastic recently and deserved to stay.
Now, *** with these "stars"??? Cold Play was ridiculously lousy. Their music offered NOTHING. Music? They should be embarrassed to perform that stuff on television.
And I have loved Carrie Underwood, but darn it if she didn't scream out her song with a grating tone - reminded me of Skyler's lack of tonal quality. I am baffled by the positive comments some of these guest stars get.
I'm not denying that Skylar has MASSIVE talent and I think she'll do wonderfully. She's great. That said, she's been my least favorite contestant all along. I just don't like her voice or her style, and she's almost too much of a dynamo for MY taste. And I'm very much NOT a country fan. There are many reasons people get voted off. It's very subjective.
Last year, the judges were shocked when Pia Toscano was voted off. I HATED her! Not because of her voice, I just felt zero connection with her and didn't warm to her at all. She came off cold and superior to me. The people I know who watch IDOL didn't like her either. America didn't get that wrong, as the judges said; people just didn't like her.
I think Melanie Amaro, who won the X Factor, has a flat-out AMAZING voice. But her personality leaves me cold.
It's about so much more with voters. SO much more. And although this is just a talent competition, this is exactly how real life works.
Total crap, even for someone as cynical about the process as I am. I Do think Skylar is assured of having a great country career; she's a natural and perfect for modern country--and, she can really sing!
thinking this is rigged..come on people, skylar has talent, philip slipping by, this is so absurd. Do you know how many people are saying they are done with the show, not watching no more? It's not talent that is being voted on here, if it were than we wouldn't be having the loser's standing, this show is opposite and needs to be called biggest loser 2...sorry to offend anyone but Phillip did horrible last night, way off tune and even had to fast forward thru his songs, couldn't stand it..The bottom 2 should be the top 2..Why keep putting Holly on spot she is one of the best. Jessica, she got alot of maturing to do, she can sing some great but got a long way to go...
Although I don't like country music, it is obvious that Skylar is way better than Hollie. I mean, WAY better. And Phillip is a Dave Matthews sound-alike. I don't like Dave Matthews and I don't like Phillip, either. (Surprise.)
Either Joshua or Jessica deserves to win. I'm hoping it's Joshua. He's the real thing.
The shocker is that the American public finally came to their senses. Now if they could just do the same where Phillips is concerned. It's doubtful though, because there are just too many senseless little girls voting.
Skylar's nasal screaming does not appeal to everyone, obviously. I am looking forward to buying Phillips music. You need more than a voice to be a performer, and he is the only unique performer in the group. The rest sing karaoke. I believe there are plenty of other GROWN-UPS who feel the same way.
You can tell a good singer when they can sing almost anything. Phillips can't. He has a particular style and that's the only way he can sing good. That last song he sang, he couldn't even hit the high notes. You don't sing a song if you can't hit the notes! And if you have to change a song so it's no longer recognizeable, then forget it!
