While I enjoyed the Star Trek reboot as a nice diversion, I hope they have another series someday. There's too much legacy, too much story and too big of a "universe" created over the five series' over the years to just abandon it all.
No surprise - 'Star Trek' has a huge following here. I'm not a trekkie as such, but I grew up with the original on T.V., and still prefer it as there seemed to be more action involved. That and The Invaders were always popular, and personally as a kid the two toys I wanted were the Enterprise and a little later Frank Cannon's car. .... Sad isn't it? Still, you can't better the best.
How about a convention covering all the Trek spoofs over the years? Like In Living Color's, where Carrey as Kirk marches around the bridge with a walker. Or Family Guy's numerous jabs. Lots of good stuff that just enhanced the whole Trek universe.
I was privileged to win on the internet, back when it was dial up the "Star Trek Sweepstakes" Grand prize back in the 90's. MSN at the time had the rights to the Star Trek site. Those were fun days, the chat-room was a big hit.... I lost a friend whose handle was 'Trek' there, she lived and passed away in Hawaii. When I got there, we were picked up at the Sofitel Hotel..by a town car and taken to Paramount....where they confiscated my cameras. It's against the rules to have one in the studio, unless of course you had permission or worked there. Anyhow....I got to visit the set of Deep Space Nine....We couldn't go to any other set because they were filming a movie and that was a security situation. I have to admit it was pretty mixed with disappointment and excitement. The set was filthy, dust in the air, and I was choking from the air quality. That aside, I walked the so called Promenade and drank blood wine at Quarks' Bar....The sets are really out of proportion in size, I guess it's a camera trick thing....I also stood on the set of the Defiant and saw the broken table that was covered throughout the series...(it was broken during installation) the broken spot was always covered with a tricorder or some sort of padd, and at times a baseball. I also saw Michael Dorn in a high speed golf-cart as he drove wildly around from set to set...He was pulling 2 jobs.... I did see a short scene being filmed and met a couple of actors. At the end of my tour, I was given my cameras back with a promise to receive in the mail a press kit complete with signed autographs, but never received any.... Now that the Captains are going to London, I may make the jump across the Atlantic...we'll see....

My second choice would be 'Star Trek: Next Generation' with Captain Piccard.
I blasted off with the first show in 1967.
:)
You'll smoke a turd in hades for that bub!
Really, if you have never been to one of these conventions, you should try it. They are a lot of fun, not only for Star Trek fns either!
I wonder who would be in charge if London gets attacked by the Borg while they are there?
