I AM concerned but I lack the clout and the money that would enable my voice to be heard. I feel compassion for all those innocent beings who have died or who have been injured just because they live there. Is this what Islam is? Murder, war and violence? I don't know but I do know that families have been annihilated, children, women, elders have been murdered by Omar el bahir and his lust for oil and money and it needs to stop. Oil needs to benefit the masses globally not just one individual and his handful of supporters who are just as guilty of genocide, violence and murder as he is. You go-Clooneys! We need to have more state dinners they really rally up the good cause!

Just stop huh? this is not a right or left issue. Don t you realize CONGRESS, Hollywood, & Obama are the 1% ! Same goes for Trump, all the guys running for Pres. Didn t you get the message of OWS. Congress passes laws to constrain the 99% (you & me) just because their buddies & fellow 1%, Hollywood is being pirated.
Congress was all set to do this too, chip away at our First Amendment rights cause their buddies are losing money. Don t be gullible & buy the "class warfare" they keep serving up. There are 2 classes all right the 99% & the 1%.

Can't they protest without violating laws here? I have been following the brave people of the Southern Sudan who became a separate country, and what is going on is sad, but does breaking laws here, or ordinances, crossing police lines, etc., does it really help those people? They want to bring attention to it? "by getting arrested"? Really, all this kind of "demonstration" does is bring attention to themselves. Mr. Clooney, grow up.

I, like many of the people making comments on this story, oftentimes find it tedious and boorish when celebrities jump on this or that "bandwagon" merely to get publicity for themselves. That said, though, these people still are American citizens and have as much right as any of the rest of us to voice their opinions, whether or not we agree with those opinions or "like" the people voicing them.

Obviously, I don't personally know George Clooney, but he strikes me as someone who I probably would like.

One more thing: resorting to violence should be a last option, not the first, as some commenters have suggested, e.g., "pick up a gun and . . ."

Michael Garee

P.S. As a disabled U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, I am hardly either a coward or a pacifist. Still, "picking up a gun" and doing anything with it is rarely the best course of action to take under most circumstances.

one commenter said "pick up a gun" not "some"
Hollywood has such deep pockets, if they want things better why don t they peraue it in a quiet individual way ? Some one posted that Clooney has been on this for 15 yrs ! (I thought it was more like 3) Nevertheless, wouldn t he be more highly regarded if he told that senate commitee "At the kitchen, we established we checked to see if they had supplies, @ the medical clinic we saw there were Doc & nurses on duty & they were seeing patients. We haD supplies delivered for temporary housing etc... Then couldn't he say "Id like you to consider or can Congress point me to a direction where "I" can do more to prevent an humanitarian crisis..." Just sayin

Agreed, the U.S. is also a third world environment with egregious problems. I wonder how many of those disparaging Clooney here have actually demonstrated, called or written, passed a petition, donated time or money or taken political action of any sort to address our homegrown misery and injustice.

You're right, of course. Other than following the news closely, signing online petitions or commenting on various websites such as this, I confess to not being an active participant in any cause. I both respect and admire anyone, especially a celebrity who has nothing to gain from their involvement, in donating money and time to support injustice wherever they so choose.

I am tired of Poor Africa..The real problem is population control. I am also tired of being accused of insensitivity to the children. If the adults used contraceptives there would be no suffering children. I am also tired of paying for these children that should not have been born. I am also tired of paying for the outcome of non stop sex that produced these kids. No one admits this because its not politically correct..Hog Wash.!!

Yeah, and people *worldwide* wouldn't suffer if they just wouldn't be born to begin with! That's what being a parent means: you're guilty of bringing new life into this world so that it can SUFFER. Down with parents! That's what you're saying... right?
