- When it's time to get dirty during an election I guess someone will go at every length to do what they have to do to get what they want done. Isn't that how we stopped the other Black candidate from running. No one still hasn't been accountable for the CIA's involvement and the President's cabinet in the 80's involvement in the crack distribution to the low income communities that hurt a lot of families to support another country's war. Fast & Furious, Wide Reciver are not intelligent programs to seek out drug cartels. But when did the government ever use smart tactics get drug cartels? These are tactics you see in movies. Why don't they give weapons to the drug dealers in our communities to seek out the main drug delivers? I'm being sarcastic. I would think the government would put more time into developing a better security system to secure our borders to hinder the entering of drugs in this country. That would leave it to the other country to stop the drug cartels in their homeland.

- Does CBS have any comment on Fortune's version of this whole "scandal" since it makes CBS look awfully sloppy and incomplete in their investigation? http://features.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2012/06/27/fast-furious-eric-holder/

- The lefties who routine lie to themselves about issues ranging from governement corruption involving supposed "green energy jobs", the the failed "stimulus", the incredulous "Obamacare" health takeover by the government, to the "war on women", to the insidious notion that aborting a baby is somehow "reproductive health care", dismissing the double-talk, misinformation and outright lies that comprise the administration's fantasy excuses for Fast and Furious are no surprise. The only thing fast and furious about these corrupt Democrats is their ability to lie to the very people they purport to represent. Wake up folks. Start reading, thinking for yourselves, and stop swallowing the propaganda and bs. You're pathetic.

- Thousands of documents have been produced. Many presidents have used Executive Priviledge; this is not the first time. WHile I agree there should generally be transparency in most records, someimtes there MAY be a good reason. That said, this program of gunwalking (began under the Gunrunner project back in 2006-you do remember who was president then, don't you?) sounds like a recipe for disaster and was a bad idea though I understand they thought it would lead them to bigger fish. It sounds more like it was this guy Newell who was mostly at fault for the day to day workings of it.
I always say, whatever it is, to let me know when it gets as bad as Watergate and nothing ever has. This does have many earmarks of a witchhunt by Republicans. I would like to see how many of them would have objected had the president been a Republican.
And stop with the stupid yammering about people taking your guns away. It hasn't happened and you're crazy to worry about it everytime a Democrat gets elected. - Reply to this comment
- I am a direct descendant of our Founding Father(Honest John Hart)and i think that rather than securing our borders that was part of the last amnistey that congress had passed. i think that this fast and furious along with these other programs that branches of our govt. are doing these gun walking programs to set into action the ways to take away more of our rights, by passing new gun laws, are these programs done with the governer knowing that they are doing these things in our state? if not why are these kind of things being done in our state with or without her knowing? if they would secure our border do you think they would be doing these things from our state,or would that make it so to many people might find out about them. Our what was supposed to be a limited govt. is totaly out of control WE THE PEOPLE need to get back the control of our govt. and get them working for us again and not the special intrests groups that have bought them, this is just one form of our govt.trechery against our people.if these programs were meant to perform as they say why then wasnt the mexican govt. included so that they could help us once they crossed the border?they were never meant to work they just want to take our guns.DONT LET THEM TAKE YOUR GUNS

- i wonder if they might have been doing this to finaly get the govt. to actually do something to seal off the border? theres no question that they were supposed to do it when they gave amnistey back in i think it was 1983 they the govt. needs to do what they had agreed to do back then. how much more deadly does the border have to get before they do what they need to make our border safe and secure. do first what they already are supposed to do and then lets talk about what to do with the undocumented, seal the border first,if they dont want to do their job get em out and put somebody in that will.

- This reporter write up is littered with statements that have been shown to be fabrications and thus false. Read the results of a 6 month long investigative report done by Fortune magazine's investigative unit: http://features.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2012/06/27/fast-and-furious-truth/
Know the facts. I'm an Independent voter and am furious over Issa's use of our tax dollars to carry out his politically driven witch hunt for no other purpose then to obstruct our Presidents ability to govern our country. Issa needs to be charges with dereliction of duty and breaching his oath of Office. - Reply to this comment
- Seems to me that this whole thing - Project Gunrunner, Wide Receiver, Fast & Furious, all of it - was an ATF project, not a presidential project. Sure, the ATF falls under the executive branch, and the ATF falls under the Attorney General's chain of command, but the POTUS and the AG don't supervise the day-to-day details of every activity that ATF undertakes. That's more than a full-time job all by itself, and both the POTUS and the AG have lots of other things to do.
So when I see attempts by either side to view this through their political polarizers - this is something evil Obama did, or this is something Bush started and Obama ended (substitute the names of various AG's in there as desired), I just think those people aren't interested in the truth of the matter, they only want to make the other side look bad.
I would like to see a real investigation of the matter so the whole truth can come out. I think the Obama administration ought to be more forthcoming with documents. But I also think that the Republicans are not at all interested in a comprehensive investigation to find the truth - they seem interested only in finding some sort of election-year cudgel to hurt Obama's re-election chances. I can understand why the Obama administration would not want to participate in this sort of political theater. But then, why don't they just release the documents about the Bush administration's involvement as well, and get the whole truth out? - Reply to this comment
- Thank you CBS for telling the truth to the American People.
For those of you commenting in NRA and 2nd ammendment conspiracies, please consider the following.
If you gave a gun to a known violent drug dealer, and the gun was used to commit murder. Would you call that a conspiracy ? In any state in the US it would be called Felony Murder. There were 38,000 murders in Mexico last year and Brain Terry.
The US supplied thousands of weapons to the Mexican drug cartels that were used in homicides. The "Whistle blowers", are the agents that were watching the guns walk and complained many times and finally put an end to the guns being given to the drug cartels. I would call those Patriots instead of whistle blowers. Kudos to CBS for printing this story. - Reply to this comment

Listen very closely to what is being said in 2009 but the Assistant Attorny General. I would like to know why the Media isn't playing this showing that the Administration DID know and actually paid for this under the stimulus package!! - Reply to this comment
