- Everyone blames Obama but I heard no one blaming W.when we invaded Iraq for fake WMDs causing hundreds and thousands of Iraqi deaths and over 4000 of the countries best deaths and trillions of dollars of treasure spent and not one official held accountable for this string of lies and deception though the head of the UNs nuclear inspectors told them over and over again there were no WMDs.You can cry about this comparative step on the toes but dont forget the republican knife to the gut.

- Agents told but to attend the hearing or do not talk. Interesting if the media will report. Thank you CBS for reporting this now will you continue or just turn your back for it may make the Obama administration(DOJ) look bad. I think they had an intention of using gun runner to Mexico to shut down gun shows but then found out that our federal govt behind the gun running. Now will the people behind it be brought to trial?

- This was the Administrations plot to enforce stricter gun control laws in the US. I think they were hoping that these guns would turn up where cartel violence occurred. This would have solidified Obama's and Hillary Clinton's claims that 80% of all gun violence in Mexico is caused by the US.
What people need to understand is Eric Holder specifically mentioned this operation (Operation Gunrunner) on April 2, 2009 in Mexico. He said, "Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion."
He knew exactly what was happening, but now feigns ignorance. And this isn't an "old charge" as his spokespeople would love you to believe. They have never been charged and have stonewalled this investigation since day one. - Reply to this comment
- It's about time one of the big three networks started covering this story, it's been on Fox for months. One of our own people was murdered at the birder with guns smuggled to Mexico with ATF help, and over the strenuous objections of local agents. Lunacy and incompetence.

- We had BETTER SEE SOME FIRINGS! Whoever came up with this idiotic scheme needs to be standing in an unemployment line. That's before the lawsuits from family members of murdered Mexicans start flooding in.
Seriously, there had better be some action taken. My ten year old nephew would have recognized a plan to sell arms to a cartel as a bad one. WHAT WERE THESE PEOPLE THINKING??? - Reply to this comment
- "But according to ATF witnesses, on March 5, 2010 ATF intelligence analysts told ATF and Justice Department leadership (including Main Justice Trial Attorney Joe Cooley) that straw firearms purchases in Fast and Furious had exceeded 1,000 and the weapons were ending up in Mexico. When concerns were raised, one witness present quoted Cooley as saying the movement of so many guns to Mexico was "an acceptable practice." The Justice Department had no comment on that."
Let me get this straight. Running guns to murderous Mexican drug cartels is "acceptable practice" for the Department of Justice, yet this same Department failed to prosecute even a single figure from any major Wall Street firm-- much less the firms themselves-- regarding the sub-prime fraud-- the largest fraud in the history of humanity.
I will also note that the big Wall Street financial firms make lots of money laundering Mexican drug cartel profits. This is widely reported in the British media. The American media is so eager to please the corrupted establishment it fails to report on most of the American corruption.
As illustrated here, the vice of corruption has our Federal government in a stranglehold, to the point they are helping to steal all our money and put guns in the hands of lunatic drug cartels.
These folks have no values or ethics, only personal interests. Further, this insane American reality manifested because both the parties are corrupted, running a dog and pony show to disguise the fact they are owned by the exact same small number of criminals.
They will not stop until the fair minded people of America work together to make them stop. - Reply to this comment

- If Holder signed off on this program he is incompetent.
If Holder didn't know about this program he is incompetent.
Either way he should resign, if he doesn't resign he should be fired. - Reply to this comment
- This act goes beyond Idiocy, it was illegal and resulted in numerous murders. This is not a "we will review our procedures" or "mistakes were made" moment. This was criminal and needs to be prosecuted with REAL consequences. Remember how quickly our government prosecuted Ramos and Compean for shooting a smuggler. Why are we doing a political dance, pretending this was just a "project gone wrong". This was an ILLEGAL, CRIMINAL ACT. It was concocted and funded ($80,000,000) at the highest levels and thats where the prosecutions should begin. Representative Issa and Senator Grassly need to stop with the show and enforce the law. Do we have laws or not?

- Well I wonder how obama et al will spin this as a problem inherited from the Bush administration. We all know his hands are lilly white. It's amazing to me that Eric Holder hasn't been heard from on this one.
