"A 90% "boost" to a person's immune system? Saying it and it being true are two very different things. Prove it.....I'm waiting...... I guess I had better not hold my breath. The truth is that vaccines are MANUFACTURED in an immoral and unethical way. Parents have been crying out now for decades to green vaccines and to manufacture them in an ethical way. They can be made without myriad toxins in them, but ah.....that would cut into profit margins then wouldn't it? The fact that you some how imply that vaccines improve the human immune system is a farce. You cannot prove that a vaccine works from one person to the next. Most vaccines only work about 37% of the time, and I haven't even seen that proven substantively. We DO NOT know what vaccines do on a DNA level, and given the research done by Dr.Sharon Moalem and consider that our very DNA was created in symbiosis with the viruses we have come in contact with over time as a species, are we re-routing our genetic code? I fail to see where vaccines have made anyone healthier. You zap a person out of the fear he might catch this or that, and then when they don't catch it -- say the flu, then the needle madmen jump up and down declaring victory, but most likely that person wouldn't have caught the flu to begin with. I am not anti-vaccine. I am anti mercury, aluminum, lead, arsenic, formaldehyde, animal DNA, aborted human fetal tissue being injected into anyone. I am against forced vaccination. I am against vaccinating in the absence of a clear and present danger. I do not and cannot believe the powers that be care about anyone or their children as at the same time they push vaccines on everyone, they have allowed pollution to proliferate, genetically modified food into the food supply, poisoned our water supplies, putrefied our air, and have allowed toxic industry to rule the roost. They have been trying to pin "autism" on something else for almost thirty years now. Don't hold your breath. Autism is humanity reaping what it has sown. I watched my son change from a perfectly healthy child into a non-verbal, seemingly catatonic, very sick child immediately following four shots. In an instant, vaccines stole our futures and our "American Dream." and if the pharmaceutical industry were so sure of the safety of their products, then they wouldn't have needed to hide behind the federal government to protect them from litigation. Let us let the EVIDENCE be heard by a JURY of our peers as to whether vaccines triggered not only "autism" which is JUST BEHAVIORS, but the myriad subsequent health issues these children have been left to face in the wake of vaccine damage, and please do not hail the VICF. What a joke. The bottom line is that if ANYONE is harmed by a vaccine, they have a minute chance in HELL of ever being compensated. It has already cost us our life savings and then some to get some semblance of the child we gave birth to back, and that responsibility falls on anyone fool enough to give them unless absolutely warranted I am not saying vaccines are the sole cause, but breathing, drinking, and eating poison is still not as bad as having poisons injected into a person. The human species has survived NOT due to vaccination, but to its ability to ADAPT, and that means having the ability to get sick and then get well and pass that immunity onto the next generation. While humans keep trying to circumvent this process unnaturally, all the viruses out their are adapting to our road blocks naturally. There is more value in the prudent and correct use of antibiotics, but we have seen that improper use of those has proliferated resistant bacteria. Do you want truly healthy people and children? Then clean up the food, air, and water supply. End the proliferation of junk food, and work for good sanitation practices. It would appear that vaccines are being sold as the rabbit foot that will allow people to eat, breathe, and drink filth. The bottom line is that the present vaccine rationale is only creating a species that will be open and vulnerable whenever a vaccine wears off -- so the industry creates lifelong repeat profits. I am sure some would rather stick a needle atop the Washington Monument, etch Merck, Wyeth, and Eli Lilly on the sides, and bow down before those gods. I believe that accepting or declining a vaccination is a basic human right, and no one should be forced, and that parents -- not doctors and not the government should make those choices for their children. A +90% immunity boost to a slew of highly contagious diseases that with recent mortality rates effectively give me a 1/60 chance of death. As well as allow me to transmit the disease to others, especially developing fetuses that would suffer fates far worse than mere autism such as blindness and extreme brain damage.

Increase the chance to die and become an accessory to death...
you know, I've always wanted to contribute to genocide without any "negative" repercussions perhaps I will refuse to vaccinate my children.
Also, I have been diagnosed with autism and when society is this asinine I'd rather not socialize. I'm doing a research paper on this topic and so far there absolutely no valid evidence to support the connection. What should be done is research of autism without a preconceived idea that must be fanatically proven. Well, I guess the worst case with the anti-vaccination movement will be that eugenics will be back in fashion. - Reply to this comment

in fact, the opposite is true. we have data showing outbreaks in fully vaccinated high schools with rates of 90 - 95% vaccinated and yet pertussis or measles outbreaks occurred.
If vaccines worked, it wouldn't matter if others did not vaccinate.
Vaccines do not incur lifelong immunity, in some cases, they worsen the situation as in pertussis where those that are vaccinated are colonized with parapertussis.
but those that hold strong faith in vaccines do so blindly and as a religion since there are nonscientific studies showing vaccinated children to be of superior health than unvaccinated. none, what-so-ever - Reply to this comment

- Funny, so dr Strom has served on Institute of Medicine panels ADVISING THE GOVERNMENT ON VACCINE SAFETY and he says that" he is unaware that human DNA was contained in vaccines". So this makes him not suitable to be adviser on vaccine safety. Right? Obviously he's lying. He also said" the prevailing medical opinion is that vaccines are scientifically linked to encephalopathy (brain damage), but not scientifically linked to autism" . So does he understand what is encephalopathy? brain damage? autism? he is just twisting the words, but autism is brain damage, it's encephalopathy, it's immune dysfunction and vaccine induced disease. He knows that. He's a liar.

- Thank you CBS news for giving voice to the very real information on the side other. If more of the media would accept that there IS another valid side and present both sides equally, people could make an informed decision. I know it's not easy for anyone to question the current paradigm, especially one so deeply rooted. Especially for the media--who could lose sponsors, and doctors and scientists--who are surely attacked by their colleagues for doing so. But if it weren't for innovative thinkers questioning the status quo, science would still believe the sun goes around the earth, and the creation story as opposed to that of evolution. Throughout history, when someone comes forward to question the current belief system, they have been ridiculed and attacked. It's nothing new. However, we look back at those old belief systems now and laugh, and wonder "how could we have thought that was right or okay?" I believe the same will happen one day when we look back at the present system of injecting chemicals and human DNA into our babies to keep them from getting benign illnesses that have been shown in the past to be harmless other than in rare cases. Of course there are a small number of cases that have complications, but there are cases of death and brain damage from the vaccines too. The statistics are skewed, most of the deaths from these diseases are in underdeveloped countries or in people with compromised immune systems, but they don't mention that. But, whatever you believe about vaccines, it is a very dangerous path to go down when you say only one opinion on any scientific belief should be heard and the rest silenced. If that happens, we lose all of our freedom to make our own decisions. Next time, it could be something you believe in or choose for your child that will be silenced or taken from you.

I strongly encourage everyone to read the recent new peer-reviewed publication by Drs. Tomljenovic and Shaw, titled "Do aluminum vaccine adjuvants contribute to the rising prevalence of autism?".
"By applying Hill's criteria for establishing causality between exposure and outcome we investigated whether exposure to Al from vaccines could be contributing to the rise in ASD prevalence in the Western world. Our results show that: (i) children from countries with the highest ASD prevalence appear to have the highest exposure to Al from vaccines; (ii) the increase in exposure to Al adjuvants significantly correlates with the increase in ASD prevalence in the United States observed over the last two decades (Pearson r=0.92, p<0.0001); and (iii) a significant correlation exists between the amounts of Al administered to preschool children and the current prevalence of ASD in seven Western countries, particularly at 3-4months of age (Pearson r=0.89-0.94, p=0.0018-0.0248). The application of the Hill's criteria to these data indicates that the correlation between Al in vaccines and ASD may be causal. Because children represent a fraction of the population most at risk for complications following exposure to Al, a more rigorous evaluation of Al adjuvant safety seems warranted."

There is strong data to show that the growth rate of the ASD epidemic is increasing. See Figure 1 from Mark Blaxill's 2004 article. The growth curve for reported prevalence of autism and ASD appears to be described by an exponential. I'd like to see what the data look like to the present.
