Just What do you know about those self appointed crooks so called the "Ethiopian government"? Find out how many innocent unprotected children, women and weak people ARE dying of hunger in the eastern and southern parts of the country RIGHT THIS MOMENT!!

First and foremost what evidence does Michael Rey have as far as "child trafficking" or is it again one of those hear say that we are so sick and tired of? It is such a dis-ingenious and unthoughtfull of some commentators to jump the gun and blow the cart rather than the horse - there is a saying "because the trader fear the donkey (to have otherwise kick him/her in the ... ) the trader whipped the load."
BFAS is just the messenger. If you have any qualms with adoption, take it up to the authorities and the law. BFAS does business with the rules and regulations of the land. Blasphemy? ....

I am another mother adopting a child through BFAS. I have read all the comments posted already. I have to say (other than Hi David, how are you?), some people need to get the facts. For one, did all of you against BFAS have a failed adoption with them or what? Or are you a failure as an adoptive parent? I have heard about people like you posting on others adoption blogs. HOw pathetic! I am interested in knowing have any of you lived in a foreign country? Seen first hand corruption that exists? I have! And let me tell you, unless you have lived there or are adopting from there, don't speak! Birth parents know what they are doing. They can't afford to feed themselves, and therefore make the decision to give up their kids for adoption. Good for them to realize they can't provide for their children, and to seek out the best option for their child. Yes, living with a family that has money to feed them is much more beneficial for them as opposed to living in an orphanage and being malnurished. So nice comment on...."Better Futures for who? Priviledged Americans?" Get a clue... orphan, starving, exposed to disease or living in a home, with food and medical care. You tell me what's best for those children! There is much more corruption on the other side that you are completely blind to! So let us know where does your anger come from? You and other's who decide to litter the walls of people's adoption blogs (the stories of how their families come about)....please find a positive outlet in your life or a psychologist! Do you know that it's not just the adoption agency involved in an adoption, that the government and so many other people are involved!?! So stop pointing your fingers at the adoption agency! If you are against adoption overall...then take a trip! INteract with starving, naked, malnurished children and maybe you can then have a better understanding of adoption!

"I want my daughters" hmmmm, David. You need to think long and hard about that statement. As much as you heart pains for those girls...this is what their first families are experiencing. Their children have been ripped away from them with promises of work and money. I pray you never get those kids and they stay with their families, where they belong.

David,
I'd like to address your last statement "I want my daughters and I don't understand why they have to continue to live in an orphanage."
...I understand the longing to bring your child home--as I too adopted through BFAS. But trust me, the months-long wait to bring them home pales in comparison to the life-long toil of knowing your adoption wasn't ethical.

I hope you're able to meet your daughters' birth parents, and through an interpreter that you've hired (so you know you're getting an accurate translation), learn that their parents have a complete understanding of their choice for adoption and that they weren't coerced by Agitu to trade their baby for a job, or money, or HIV/AIDS meds.

The end, Ethiopian children being adopted into American families, DOES NOT justify the means!

As a former BFAS client I can assure you that each and every allegation about child trafficking is true. The claims made by the Ethiopian government have been investigated and are being reviewed again now. There is evidence that biological mothers have been paid for the relinquishment of their children or their newborns. Many of these birth mothers are now or have been nannies for their own children!!! There are photographs and videos which confirm this evidence. BFAS is well known and well documented to be one of the most unethical agencies in the United States and in Ethiopia, by Ethiopians and by APs/PAPs. The sad thing is that a handful of people are return clients of this agency and support the unethical behavior of this agency. The saddest thing is that their license has yet to be revoked by the United States government and specifically the State of Minnesota although NUMEROUS complaints have been made against them!

There are plenty of American childrent that need adoption. Why not help them first.

The title of this article makes it sound as if the adoption agency has been convicted of child trafficking. Only allegations have been made and they are false. The majority of the children BFAS has adopted are from orphanages. The parents, who have relinquished their parental rights, know where their children are. There hasn't been any kidnapping or "selling" of children. It is a shame that people are misleading people and slowing the real need of getting parents for children in need. Only one out of hundreds gets adopted and that is the real crime.

My heart goes out to those children and their families in Ethiopia as well as any innocent American families. Are any of these children currently living in America? And in seeking legal counsel, will the families be returning the kidnapped children back to their birth families in Ethoipia or will their Ethiopian families have to forego the right to have their children returned home to them? Does the legal term "adoption" apply to those children who have been identified among the trafficked or what now appears to be kidnapped children? Can these children one day sue either the agency and/or their adoptive American parents if the American families refuse to return them to Ethiopia? Who is speaking out on behalf of the children? Do the children have legal representatives here in America for their best interest?
