The only issue I have with this is a simple question. First I''d like to say I have no mercy with rapists of any kind especially not the ones that betray a child''s trust and rip away their innocence.

Now my question is some people are filed as "child rapists" for sleeping with a 16 or 17 year old that KNEW what they were doing and it was perfectly consentual regardless of whether we think it''s wrong or right. Will they be included in this?

I vote yes, but only if the evidence is overwhelming and undeniable. In other words only in the most obvious and extreme cases. Of course that same standard should be applied to murder cases too. Death only in the most extreme and obvious cases.

The death penalty is not a deterrent to any crime, and trying to execute people who are considered "sick" will backfire, causing even more protests and instant martyrdom. We don''t want killers and sexual predators championed for a cause, we want them either rehabilitated or removed from society.

I''m not for this.

I wouldn''t want to stand before God and explain about when the first innocent was executed.

Same for murder cases. If you folks who bang the drum for capital punishment wan''t to risk your soul- go ahead.... But I''ll not participate.

Unless you are a child who has been raped, no one knows the trauma and life long psychological distress a child of rape suffers.

No matter how much counseling they get--their lives will never be "normal".

The insult suffered from rape in childern interferes with their self esteem, confidence and trust.
Years of counseling will merely "get them past it" but a lifetime of "flashbacks" and recall will forever be with them.

Death is too good a punishment for these people for they are leaving behind a damaged child.

The only problem with this is that execution, especially execution by lethal injection, is way too good and humane for any person who has raped a child. Someone like this is a more suitable candidate for anthills, draw & quartering, or burning at the stake.
I don''t see any deterrent capability in getting a nice peaceful lethal injection. Most child rapists will not fear a punishment such as this.
