Good point processor2

Now let's give equal funding to all schools and teachers, no matter who lives in that particular area. Then give the school's the option to add open prayers and we're in business. Peace to all through Jesus Christ

Great decision

Afterall,
It was Martin Luther King,Jr. who said that we should judge someone by the content of their character, and NOT by the color of their skin.

This Supreme Court decision reaffirms that belief.

you see segregation in every major city in the country

but the government doesnt do anything about forcing the muslim children in deerborn to go across detrot to go to schools there

or the kids in little china in LA to go to hollywood schools

so wuzzup widat?

whats good for the donkey isnt good for the mule? just whats this race specific desegregation going to accomplish, besides building resentments in every race out there?

so why is it that the US Constitution gives no authority to the federal government about what, when, who and/or why our kids are schooled, yet we end up with the federal government destroying our educational systems....

Segregation is nothing more than a fancy name to force reverse discrimination against the kids.

If a kid grows up in a neighborhood with other kids his own race or not, it should be expected, and taught, that they should get along. Black communities do not open thier arms to whites. They are just as prejudice in thier communities as the KKK was in the 50s and 60s.

I have absolutely no respect for any government mandates that would drag a kid out of his neigborhood and dump him half way across the county among strangers and expect that to be ok.

The democratic candidates for president are all against this one. And all the democratic candidates in the senate voted for the ******* amnesty bill.

Then you have the republicans, alas.

What a choice we have this year.

The US today is far different than it was 50 years ago.

50 years ago, black people could not live in "white communities." In which case, it made sense to bus children to "better" schools.

However, I know of no community that is currently segregated by race. Which eliminates the need to bus children anywhere.

It the government wants to ensure schoolchildren are of diverse colors, I suggest we paint them whatever colors are necessary to ensure they are whatever colors they are supposed to be.

It is time to eliminate skin color as a benchmark for anything.

I would agree if all schools were funded identically and historically underprivilaged areas were not underprivilaged when it comes to educational funding. We are talking about equality here and all students having equal access to a quality education. This is what our country is founded on and that is what our policies should pursue. To eliminate one way of achieving it without restoring it with another option is nothing but a setback.

I'll make it short and sweet. The black people have got to stop telling me I owe them something because they were slaves almost a hundred and fifty years ago. That crutch is old and rotted, most of my black friends don't want or care to use it but some still do.

You think this is about Slavery? Man where is YOUR brain. The Case is a direct result of the Courts decision in Brown... that was handed down, I believe in 1956! It's about Jim Crowe and Fascist Governments in the south which systemactically segragated Blacks and sent them to schools vastly inferior. The Problem the court nor anyone else could prevent is that in SOME states the schools were not like in say Alabama, yet you can't make just a law to cover the disgusting behavor of a bunch of Souther Nazi's who thought they were better than Blacks... why is beyond me. Are you REALLY that ignorant of our history?

I think in MOST of the country this will not effect to much. As always though, I believe it will lead to serious problems in the Fascist States. These people still hold on to the idea that they, for what reason is beyond me, superior to those who are NOT WASP. I sincerely hope not but having been born and lived in the south I know first hand that these hard core fascist have NOT changed. Anyone who doubts what I say need only look at the conduct in Georgia RIGHT NOW!

"Affirmative action" is one of the most divisive policies the US has ever promoted.

Dragging kids all over town to satisfy some arbitrary quota is worse than sending them to the schools closest to their homes.

I doubt I'll agree with this USSC on many issues, but on this one, I totally agree.

"Race" should never be used as a benchmark for any purpose. That is, in and of itself, racism.

Race Race Race. SEND THE KIDS TO THE SCHOOL CLOSEST TO WHERE THEY LIVE, AND GET RID OF BUSES.

This court is building a wayback machine. Next they will overturn the Emancipation Proclamation and reinstate slavery. Oh wait, that is the temporary worker program that the White Wing Wackos are trying to get through congress. Compassion for conservatives? Not this year. If the supporters of Sean Hanity, paid shill, and Ann Coulter, paid shill, had their way, only pure whites (determined by DNA) would have full citizenship. All others would have limited, marginal rights that keep them as worker machines and not human beings.

thgdriver - forgot to say, I was being somewhat sarcastic, and also that I am not black. But if people in a society were for helping each other instead of starving them, I'd bet we'd get a lot more accomplished and we'd all be a lot happier.

But what would I know... I don't have a cable news tv show. :)

thgdriver - nobody owes anybody anything. Or that's what my favorite cable news pundits keep saying.

Now ask why our society is going to pot in a handbasket. Too much selfishness and greed afoot. ;)

The Court's failed attempt at social engineering years ago that mandated busing to achieve judical goals severley destryoed many communities and cities as parents decided the government could not force them to send their kids to unfit schools. Massive relocations have occured over the past 35 years to suburbs and other locales to the point that the old mandates are unenforceable as in many cases there aren't enough whites left to acheive the required balance. In many cases inner-city schools are more black now than before the 1970 court order.
The decaying infrastructure left behind will always be a remberace of this failed policy.

diverinni,
No offense taken. I have never understood the whole 'gangsta' (or 'fakstas' as I like to call them)either. Especially if when put in a situation most of them would pu$$y out or shoot someone. What happened to the days when your fists were all you needed. That way, if you loose at least you live to fight another day.

Guess we'd better end this and get back to the topic before we get into trouble.
