It's interesting that CBS will star out a 3 letter word for procreation in relation to education but allow all the references to BJs and Pelosi the ho.

This says alot about why society can't come together to do a better job of avoiding abortion.

soldat44,

I'm a mainstream liberal who thinks that partial birth abortion should only happen to save the life of the mother and only then. The Supreme Court could've made that distinction in their ruling but did not.

It gets a little tricky calling yourself Pro Life when what's actually being done is choosing between 2 lives. The Supreme Court dodged that one.

Maybe the name of the movement should be changed from Pro-Life to Pro-Fetus.

The Pro choice movement has a problem with only looking at the effect upon the woman and the children that're born and the Pro Life movement only looks at the effect upon the child that's aborted.

I don't personally see abortion as a right and I look forward to a day when the only abortions performed will be to save the life of the mother.
We won't get there by outlawing abortion, that will just make it less safe. To make it less common we need to do a better job as a society of educating young people about ***,parenting, personal responsibility, and birth control. We also need to better support adoption by making the process easier and cheaper. Those who oppose abortion should be taking more of a lead in this area than they have been.

Unfortunately, the same people who want to make abortion illegal tend to want to also prevent *** ed and birth control. To me, that is immoral.

Thank you President Bush and thank you SUPREME Court for making the correct moral decision in an increasingly immoral society!!!

The unborn CHILD WINS!!

We're headed back to the days of back-alley abortions for all but the rich. (They went to Cuba, Mexico, and Sweden before Roe vs. Wade.) If these men in politics and in the courts are going to nationalize women's uteri, they should be willing to pay for their health care and their children. Anything less is like authorizing a war but not paying for it, or demanding outrageous salaries for your political cronies/lovers while consigning wounded soldiers to rat-infested buildings.

This isn't about a valuing of human life--they still support the death penalty despite the potential for innocent people being executed. It's about eliminating public funding of abortion so they can funnel public money to their friends through pork barrel projects and non-competitive outsourcing.

In your mind, when does God give the pre-natal baby a soul...at birth?...2 months?...5 months?"

I vote for pre-conception!
Therefore, soldat44, I'm sure you will join me in my campaign to outlaw masturbation.

All those little tiny innocent lives spilled EVERY single day.

The same tools who make the abortion issue their top priority, have a "social Darwinist" view of life once we are born. Just get them out the womb and then it's every child for himself. Consider these sobering facts:
The infant mortality rate is 70% higher in poor families. The majority of those living in poverty are children. The poor are more likely to suffer from serious illness (physical and psychological). The poor are more likely to be victim (especially violence, including robbery. Military: poorer--more likely to serve and therefore be killed. And thanks to the conservative stereotype that all government employees are lazy, Child Protective Agencies are chronically under funded nationally. Their life expectancy is 5-7 years less environmental, occupational and nutritional factors). As long as we continue to give mere token consideration to these discrepancies, we are hypocrits. The bible does not say that life is sacred except when death is a necessary spurn to motivate us to better serve the corporate masters. Does it?

Obviously a hot topic. I do not see this as a 'right' of a mother removed as much as a 'right' of a baby given. Maybe I am just an optimist.

"Bush alone?? 60% of those polled by CBSnews support the decision to Ban Partial-Birth Abortion and most people who use CBSNews.com are mainstream liberal. Ponder that one."
Soldat44, Typically misleading... Would those same 60% be in favor of a ban when the life of the mother is in jeopardy? Does that matter to you? "Peace" be with you? Does that go for Iraq a well?

"The ruling is huge, because the ban is now the first abortion restriction ever approved, with no exception for the health of the mother, said Andrews."
When the life of a fetus takes precedence of that of the life of a mother, isn't it going a bit far to make a point?

The next woman who dies from not being able to carry a child to term they can pat themselves on the back for having brought about! These are the only women who get this procedure in the US! Some accomplishment! They should really be proud of themselves! They wonder why people have gotten a bad attitude toward the Christian religion!

"These are the only women who get this procedure in the US"

WRONG!

That is not true. Check the facts.. do some reading.

For those of you who accept Partial-birth Abortion, why not Live-birth Abortion also? Support that one. Better yet sit in on one. If it's good for someone else it is also good for you...Right?

In your mind, when does God give the pre-natal baby a soul...at birth?...2 months?...5 months? Who is better qualified to explain the subject of God and Souls?...Doctors or Clergy? Everything a baby needs is present at Conception...including a Soul. If you do not accept that then God is not in you...and you cannot be a believer...no matter what 'logic' you happen to use to justify your stand on Abortion.

Peace be with you.
