Comments on: High Court Rebukes Bush On Auto Emissions
In A 5-4 Decision, Supreme Court Decides EPA Can Regulate Greenhouse Gases From Cars
- The only thing that the supreme court has done is to justify another fascist arm of the government. The presidents who worked to get the EPA and america in line are blamed and the presidnet who ignored everything but his libido becomes the hero.
Comedian George Carlin had a wonderful but politically incorrect view on the gas "crisis". To wit: Deport all illegal immigrants--that takes approximately 11 million people out of the states. Then when an illegal comes in, give him or her a gun, some ammo, and a canteen and send them to Iraq. Once they have served the country for 2 years, make them citizens, they have served the country. If they fail to serve, send them to Iraq anyhow without the gun, ammo, or canteen. Problem solved. - Reply to this comment

- Want to solve auto emissions and global warming all at the same time?
$8.00/gal gasoline.
Also:
----Rolling blackouts will be planned throughout the country. The country will be divided into 8 equal energy-use geographic areas. They will rotate on a schedule that will require each area to reduce their energy usage by 30% for a 48 hour period. Businesses will have energy limiters installed on their power lines to restrict usage. That will require businesses to restrict operating hours. Residential buildings will also have power restrictors installed. This will make home A/C prohibitive to use unless you have the money to buy the most efficient units.
----Automobile use will be banned in all government-designated restricted metro areas. Mass transit will be the only form of transportation within these areas. Because of the millions using the transit system, it will be rationed by color-coded days. All interstate highways will become toll ONLY. Again, use of the interstate system will be rationed for individuals and commercial use will be heavily taxed. All personal vehicles will be emission certified every 6 months at the owner expense. All vehicles that cannot be made compliant will be confiscated and destroyed. All antique and classic cars will have their engines rendered inoperable. - Reply to this comment
- There is a competition between Bush senior and Bush junior which one could cause the most pollution and get the most people killed, I do believe Bush junior is going to win.

- Isnt it strange how the price of gas is tied to the world appeasement of Islam?
Bush SR pissed them off, Gas went up.
Clinton ignored them. Gas was cheap.
Bush JR Pissed them off, Gas goes crazy.
The two people who did the right thing get all the heat.

- "If you will justdo a little reading you will fine=d that gas cost less today than it ever has in the U.S."
Of course if you read the prices posted at the pump you'll see that it has practically doubled over the past two years. Who you gonna believe, the Oil And Gas "experts" or your lyin' eyes?
People love to cherry pick the time to show tings like gas is cheaper now. I can cherry pick the time of 1999 (under Clinton by the way( when Gasoline in NY was $0.91 per gallon, check the historical data.
Besides, if computers went up 100% tomorrow, would the Bushie apologists contend that price are still 1000 times below the cost of computers from fifteen years ago for the same computers. Probably. - Reply to this comment
- never a war the south couldn't lose...
the south loves war.
the south is the most militaristic and right wing region of america.
there are more military bases in the south than anywhere else.
the south is paid to fight america's wars.
only thing is the south never learned how to win any wars.
jefferson davis lost his war.
johnson lost his war.
bush will lose his war.
that's okay...
as long as those dixie confederate creeps get their sunday afternoon parades in their tight butt uniforms, they're happy.
ha,ha,ha.

Hullo Onlyfacts.
Yes no argument.
If only some of these others would just open their eyes and their minds, they can continue their ranting, but unfortunately the day of reckoning will come upon all of us.- Reply to this comment
- Before man, this earth was a completely beautiful garden and it can be again, even with humans.
Just as opinions evolve so will the the economic market to support other new industries which do not pollute but provide alternative sources of fuel and a return to clean water, wholesome air and an overall thriving eco-system. Why fight it? enjoy. Sometimes change is good ! - Reply to this comment
- The Republicans are not stupid. They will let the Democrates bring in regulations that will in time raise the price of everything we buy two fold and taxes will be raised to a 50% base to pay for all regulatory costs. There will be starvation. People will have to live in caves because there is not lumber to build houses. People will freeze to death because there is no affordable energy for heating. If people and goods can not move freely the economy will tank and jobs will vanish. So what is next, controlled population growth, a medical system that only the very wealth can afford.
Every energy saving alternative and renewable energy program has it drawbacks. Senetor Kennedy does not want to see wind generators from this pristine Mass sea shore. Batteries are the worst alternative.
Most of those famous people that advicate the reduction of green house gasses are the worst offenders. Most are very rich with two or more homes, boats, planes, motor cycles. I wonder how many gallons of gasoline was used in the last Tom Cruise action movie, with all the explosions. Those fire balls are burning gasoline. But they are rich, as is Al Gore. The do not have to live by the same standards as we little people. - Reply to this comment
- Rheola,
We are in agreement. However, there is too much hype on CO2 as the evil gas. Until real pollution is addressed, the Global Warming %u2018debate%u2019 is just noise distracting us from any useful progress. - Reply to this comment
It is is blantantly obvious from a large number of these postings, that many would rather wait until the point of no return has gone by, before they would be willing to curtail their greedy and materialistic excesses.
The post defending such an unnecessary fools vehicle as is the hummer is such
Surely any person with half a brain would have to agree, that the most logical course would be to prepare for a possible Global warming occurence immediately, in order to lessen the possibility of a catastophic situation at a future date.
If then such a situation does not arise to the extent that may be possible, then no harm has been done, in fact with greener power, our quality of life would almost certainly be improved.
There would of course be some short term pain to the likes of coal miners etc, however blind freddie could see that replacement jobs would be available in those industries supplying the greener technology.
Of course the energy moguls will fight furiously to protect teir income, irregardless of the cost to human life.- Reply to this comment

Not under Bush... "On the third, it (The Court) ordered EPA to re-evaluate its contention it has the discretion not to regulate tailpipe emissions." - Reply to this comment
- the only thing that smells better than burning tires is smoking liberals. I despise the Clean Air Act. It was poorly written, costs business way too much, does not really eliminate emissions, and is nothing more than an interference to general commerce.

- The federal Government already regulates green house gas emissions from cars and has been doing so for decades under the "Energy Policy Conservation Act". They are CAFE standards and they specify how much gas milage a car should get or how far it should go on a given amount of emissions.
