Why are you people so happy about this bill? It screws the ordinary people. I have to wonder if the conman insurance industry was behind this, now we are forced to buy their product and if we don't the IRS will garnish our wages or seize our property.

This is a sad day for America. We will forever hear about funding shortfalls (like medicare and social security) and we will pay higher taxes to receive less quality care. This will widen the gap between the rich and the poor, like Europe, where the rich pay for exceptional care and the rest live with underfunded public care. I expect this bill to be in court for years as the congressional rule breaking is exposed. Hopefully by then someone will figure out how to kill the thing. I am independant voter that will be supporting the opposition party next November.

Vote them all out for not fulfilling the oaths that they take when they take office. It is thier job to do what we tell them to, not the other way around. They have leveraged the future of our childrens childrens children. Plus, most of this doesn't even start to kick in until 2014? I hope we get a better congress in there before then to stop this madness before it can start. From now on my vote is going against the incumbent, in my city, my county, my state, and my country. I plan on voting the arrogant "we know what is best for you" career politicians out.

A 3.8% tax increase on unearned income! I can't afford another 3.8% on top of the $ 120.00 /week I'm paying for the health insurance policy that according to this bill I am forbidden to cancel or shop around. I have to either stick with the one I have or switch over to the Fed's. yikes - doesn't smell like choice to me.

Thank you, Speaker Pelosi, thank you House Democrats, thank you President Obama. This bill doesn't solve all the problems in the health care system, but it is an important start and it takes on some very important problems and will give some relief to hard-working, honest Americans who have been so badly harmed by abusive insurance industry practices. This is a good first step. But the entire system of health care delivery still desperately needs to get a handle on costs, and I'm not sure this bill will make much of an impact there.

At last, time has run out on the Republican fear mongering campaign. In spite of the fake negotiations and ostentatious pretentions, millions of Americans will have the opportunity to get coverage.
Well, it is not a government takeover. Private insurance remains intact. The law preserves patient-doctor relationships and does not force anyone to abandon their current coverage if they chose not to. Granny and grandpa are safe. No one is going to pull the plug on them. In fact, granny and grandpa now get to save some money on prescription drugs. There are no death panels just common sense reforms to eliminate waste and improve care.
There is no funding for abortion. The Hyde Amendment prohibiting the use of public funds for abortions has been affirmed. Additionally, President Obama will issue an Executive Order to further assure Americans that public funds will not be used for abortions. The bill strengthens Medicare. The new bill provides coverage for more than 95% of Americans. Provides coverage for 32 Million additional Americans.

Under the premise of better care for cheaper, they will cut payments to physicians. Physicians will refuse to take Medicare and you my friends will be out of luck. This isn't fear mongering this is reality. I'm a physician and I can't make it on what Medicare pays currently much less with cuts. They plan to help pay for it by cutting payments for "preventable" complications. What that means is if you get a post op infection after your knee replacement, which is NOT necessarily a PREVENTABLE complication, not only will they not pay the doctor and hospital for your treatment of the infection, they will pull the payment for the original surgery and post op care. Again, Doctors and Hospitals take the hit. This is REAL people! Bureaucrats don't think in reality in this regard.
