I apologize to CBS. The article on stimulus money to foreign countries is right here in their political news section. I hope everyone reads it and contacts their reps on this one. Things in this country are getting stranger by the day.

I voted for President Obama but I am becoming troubled by some of his policies or lack of. We added to the deficit to extend the unemployment benefits but an article is on Huffington Post today from AP that shows we are giving grants to China's companies. I could not believe it. I am posting a small part of the article here:
Last fall, a joint venture was announced involving China's Shenyang Power Group, Cielo Wind Power LP of Austin, Texas, and a private equity firm, U.S. Renewable Energy Group, to build a $1.5 billion Texas wind energy project. Because the wind turbines are to be manufactured in China, Schumer wrote to Energy Secretary Steven Chu last November urging him to reject federal funding for the project.

"The idea that stimulus funds would be used to create jobs overseas is quite troubling," Schumer wrote, "and, therefore, I urge you to reject any request for stimulus money unless the high-value components, including the wind turbines, are manufactured in the United States."

In response, Chu wrote that the program in question is "available to all qualifying entities; it is not a discretionary grant program administered by the Department of Energy." He also said all the money awarded from the program helps put Americans to work.

"All of the wind turbine installation jobs are created here in America," Chu said.

Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) had a simple request to make politicians in Washington who just past a ?pay as you go? bill to come up with the money for the $10 billion extension of unemployment benefits. He suggesting using unspent stimulus money yet Katie Couric called him ?heartless?

We don?t need more hand-outs, we need jobs and this administration is leading us away from them by raising taxes on everything they can think of. They want to increase gas taxes 8-12 cents a gallon and some states like Michigan (which is already in the crapper from so many tax increases) are looking at doubling down on these!

CBS is furloughing about 100 people as they still pay Katie Couric $14 million annually. Why don't some reporters break into Couric's next public appearance and ask her why she's so heartless, not trying to "save or create" a few jobs inside CBS?

You know, Bunning has a point, but his timing is atrocious. I believe in fiscal responsibility, but when ten % of people are out of work, the infrastrure repair Bill are being cut and more people will be of work from lack of fundin is the wrong time to be Mr. Fiscal Hard**s.

Bunning voted for every tax and spend scheme that Bush dreamed up in his 8 years of screwing the country. Now that the revolving door has put a Democrat in the Oval Office... Bunning has a revelation that defecits are bad.
.
There is absolutely no difference between the Republican Thieves Club and the Democrat Liars Club. At least the Democrats were consistent... everyone knew what they'd do if they took power. The Republicans on the other hand, turned traitor to their traditional conservative roots and stood by with a thumb in their posterior as Bush used the Bill of Rights as toilet paper.
.
In 2012... Let's get it right. Ron Paul.

Tax cuts are not spending

Let's say the federal government needs $3 TRILLION in funding per year to operate.

Every year the IRS takes in $3 TRILLION in income taxes.

Then a certain idiot president cuts the incomes taxes, so that only $2.5 TRILLION is coming in each year.

Where does the other $500 BILLION come from?

The republicans and conservatives have a LONG and storied history of passing legislation which has shown time and time again, to be harmful to our nation.

They ONLY care about big business, and couldn't care less if America or her citizens are harmed in the process.
____________________________________________________________

Exactly, very well said!!!!

Republicans also use social issues like race, religion, guns, abortion, gays and immigration to rally the poor and middle-class into supporting them, but Republicans NEVER get anything done on social issues, as they have really no intention of EVER getting anything done on social issues.....the Republicans have just been conning the social conservatives all along into supporting them.....

chitown and farmer - you are both so right.

OK republicans, time to give it up. Everyone hates you. So now it is time to close your small businesses and family farms. Most conservatives believe in personal responsibility, so you will be just fine. You will be able to feed your families and take care of yourselves.

OK now farmer and chitown, where do we send the newly unemployed and hungry people to see you for money and food? There will be millions of people looking for you to help them out. Best of luck to both of you and thank you for your bravery for taking on all of these people by yourselves.
