If Brown wins it will give the people a fighting chance!! After all, the seat being fought over is NOT the Kennedy seat, it is the people's seat.

Darn right, Msay3.....every time I see someone mention "Kennedy's seat" I immediately feel the need to remind them that the seat is the People of Massachusetts's seat, the Kennedys and Liberals don't "own" the seat

There is a guarantee. Its called profit. I run a small business that is growing like crazy. And up until lately, had thought about hiring two new employees, making it 9 employees in all.

But, why am I not? Because of the tax burden that is going to hit me and my company when the Bush tax cuts expire the end of this year, as well as the increased costs because of this healthcare boondoggle. So, our decision right now is to wait to hire.

Your post does not ring true.

#1, the Bush tax cuts mostly benefited the top 5 %. Doubt it will make much difference in your case.

#2, health care reform will likely help small business like yours, not hurt.

Sorry trout. You are wrong on both parts. You need to check into it a little more. Our accountant has run the numbers. Both on the tx cut ending and on what the impact of health care, in its current form, succeeds. And both increases our costs!

The only way healthcare doesnt increase our costs is if we dump all of our employees out on their own and tell them to go find their own plans.

You see, even with that, we KNOW that taxes have to go up to pay for healthcare. They have to. So, we sit by and we wait to see what Washington will do.

A Republican from Massachusetts is not what most of the nation thinks of as a Republican. In order to get elected in the People's Republic of Massachusetts you have to be so far left that even the Republicans are Liberal (It was is Liberal Record on many issues that undid Romney as a GOP candidate even though that same record could have made him a contender in the national election). If Brown ran as a Repubican in a conservative state he couldn't even get the nomination.

The question that needs to be asked is, "If Brown gets elected will he be a aisle crossing Junior Senator who will support many aspects of Obama's agenda in spite of his 'Republican' credentials?"

I can see that there are MANY, MANY Liberals that are NOT going to learn what the people are trying to tell them... YOU WON'T LISTEN!! THE PEOPLE don't want what Obama is giving them!! Doesn't that mean anything to you.... You can say the people are "wrong" all you want... THAT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER.. Listen, why don't you??? If you don't, 2012 is going to be DISASTROUS for the Liberals... and 2014 will be even worse than that.. Sure.. a lot of us feel like we've been ripped off by the Bush administration.. Maybe we have.. I know I parted ways with him when he abandoned conservative principles.. and I'd never vote for him again, because of it.. But, extreme Liberalism sure as heck is NOT the answer.. We've had enough of Obama, his spending and his health care reform..He's taking us the wrong way.. Don't talk down to the voters.... It'll get your tail in a crack... Even if Brown doesn't win, but only comes close to winning the election, just the closeness is still a lesson for you Libs to ponder. But, you're not going to listen, are you??

raftetman1- I agree. Republicans learned nothing. they moved farther left for example look at the current head of the RNC.

What the tea parties have been saying very clearly is many people are tired of spending without regard to the cost to tax payers. Mindless, irrational, of the give-away-the-store spending that this congress has embarked on.

They don't like the health care because for a vast majority there is no improvement but they will incur higher costs.

Reagen ran on the concept of smaller government, though his defense spending drove up the national debt - at least we got the collapse of the Soviet Union out of it.

Under Obama, Pelosi and Reid we have witnessed the national debt increase by a factor of 4 in just 1 year. We have seen the white house and his hand picked economics man APPROVE the bonuses now being paid out to Wall Street executives after we gave them nearly a TRILLION dollars to survive.

We watched Obama bypass state employee retirees in favor of rewarding the Unite Auto Workers union with Chrysler. And then again the unions get preferential treatment by having THEIR health care exempted from the "cadillac tax".

Maybe - just maybe - its the spending stupid.

For those convinced that nationalize insurance control costs - I give you the Washington Post article on France.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/22/AR2009092204289_2.html?sid=ST2009102805439

A short synopsis - almost 40% of a workers pay goes to pay for healthcare and social services. With that they STILL need supplemental insurance and face rising co-payments.

And with all the rising copays the French government is projecting deficit of 4 times it's current level by 2020 is something isn't done.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

FauxNews says:
It still amazes me that the Press is creating this false hope for conservatives. Brown has no chance of winning in a State that voted 62% for Obama and Kerry, and Republicans are outnumbered 3-1. Yet the conservatives still have a football "Hail Mary" mentality about the election. If half the Democrats didn't vote, Brown would still lose by 20%. Get real people. It's sad (for me too), but you're going to have to accept it.

Hmmm - and if your wrong?? Will you come on here tomorrow and admit your wrong?

Coakleys own campaign now says 20% of DEMOCRATS in the state are going to vote for Brown. Given the 65% of independants (over 50% of the total voters) and solid republican support with high turnout - Brown is looking very strong.

Wait a minute, didn't Pelosi and all her democrat friends fly to Copenhagen, stay in a five star hotel, eat caviar? all on the American taxpayers. And there are plenty of wealthy democrats, that have the best health care that money can buy. As a matter of fact there are more democdats then republicans that have the best health care money can buy, or did you forget they have the majority.

No they want you to believe that if we just do nothing, it will all be great.

But health care costs are projected to double again in the next 7 seven years if nothing is done.

Can you afford to pay double what you're paying now?

Can your employer afford to pay double?

Beckie - You keep saying this but can you tell me how this bill prevents health care costs from rising?? What in this bill will prevent unnecessary procedures, keep people from demanding new drugs every time they have the mildest discomfort? Running to the doctor every time they think they might be ill and demand pills??

It isn't doctors or insurance who cause costs to rise - it is people and their behavior. And nothing in this bill addresses any of that.

BeckieBest...Do you think that the Federal government will not increase everyone's taxes with national health care reform? I work in the health care field, in the three hospitals I have served from 1980-2010, we never refused to treat/care for all our patients, be they insured or not insured or under-insured.
What we need is a State-level health care reform.
Mortar_29 replies:
linkicon reporticon emailicon
The issue you miss Beckie is that the Federal government CANNOT deal with most of the issues surrounding healthcare because it is ILLEGAL to do so. So, if a congressman or senator does nothing about it, it is a good bet that he/she is obeying the law!
