Here's a prayer for all the babies that have been aborted, for the "pro-choice" supporters to be enlightened in their thinking, and for those that support life, that God will comfort them, as they get spat on and carry their cross.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Don't reward these guys with your vote because they apologize for getting caught telling you what they actually believe....punish these nut-jobs. Their apologies and retractions are only responses to the heat they get for having the political stupidity to reveal EXACTLY what they believe.

Larrylinn, you're absolutely spot on. Rupert's probably having the contract drawn up as we speak! I pray it happens so I'll never have to see THAT Joe Walsh again.

Our beloved Grandparents raised their family in Northern Wisconsin during the depression, back when birth control consisted of nothing more sophisticated than sheep-intestines and household sponges. If those did'nt work, mustard plaster-induced abortions, along with countless other more desperate methods were used. Grandma and Grandpa remained fond of each other throughout their long marriage, and evidently were'nt too taken with the only available means to avoid conception, because during our Grandmother's fertile years she endured over twenty pregnancies, seeing only sixteen of her children reach adulthood. The year abortion became legal in our state, I asked Grandma what she thought of it. The sudden sadness in her eyes showed she'd been struck unexpectantly by memories of things long past, the depth of which could only be imagined. After a few moments she said, "It's not something anyone would want to do, BUT that's true of many countless things." Was she speaking from firsthand knowledge of what, back in her day, had to have been a horrendous procedure? What were the "many countless things" she seemed to be comparing with abortion? We do know she had to watch all of her sons go off to war, at times had to bury some of her still-born babies with her own hands, and saw much suffering as an emergency midwife and all-purpose nurse, back when doctors were scarce in the Northern region. Judging from stories that surfaced now and then within the family, she certainly witnessed some hellish situations: rabies victims too far gone to be helped, farming and hunting accidents, pummeled women and children, people riddled with cancer and various infections. Many unwanted things likely had to done. She, herself, never went into much detail about those times, but all through her life she was generous with sharing what she'd learned from them. In looking back, it's amazing that she never complained. She only explained. Given the number of children she was able to carry to term, it's doubtful Grandma ever intentionally ended one of her own pregnancies, but she was never harshly critical of other people's predicaments. I can whole-heartedly say she was the least judgemental person I've ever known. She had a worldly-wise and kindly pragmatic view of humankind and it's many foibles. Although patient with most people, she warned of pious hypocrites, the sort who put on a show of concern when it suits a selfish purpose, and then only for those deemed somehow worthier than others. In the case of Rep. Walsh, I believe she'd ask him to sit down hard on a large cactus, and remain there until he'd learn to keep quiet about things he could'nt possibly know anything about. All in all, he'd do well to consider that few would choose to abort if they knew that at every age, their child's health would be as valued as that of a fetus. The affordable healthcare act has given hope that in the near future our bodily maintenance will be given as high a priority as the upkeep of our bridges, roads and parks. We'll be able to play sports and dance and run around without worrying about how we'll be able to pay for a possible injury. Mothers can now pat their growing bellies and invision a long healthy life for their chidren, instead of years of pain and untreated disease. The rate of abortions has accordingly begun to go down. Is'nt that what conservatives like Rep. Joe Walsh and others of his pious ilk should be inspired by, instead of stubbornly trying to put the cart before the horse?

Joe Walsh is an idiot, and I hope my fellow Illinoisans in the 8th District will happily elect Tammy Duckworth to replace him in Congress.
But for those who pretend that the Joe Walshes and Todd Akins are OUTLIERS in the Republican Party, I would note that the Republican PLATFORM includes language equivalent to the "personhood" referendum that was so extreme it was voted down in Mississippi (Mississippi!). That referendum equated ALL abortions to murder and many types of contraception to murder. And THAT's the official position of the Republican Party!
As for "Mitt the Moderate," three words: Supreme Court appointments!

In 2008 only 12% of all abortions were done for medical reasons as reported by the patient, and 1% for rape. This is out of 1.21 million abortions. So, only 156,000 of 1,200,000 babies were aborted for reasons that could be construed as necessary. The rest were because of reasons stated it was inconvenient, problems with a boyfriend, money, etc. I feel deeply for women in the medical and rape categories, but have a hard time with the others. My sisters and I were able to control our procreation in small town, lower to middle class circumstances, and I think a lot of others are capable of it also. We also chose to not have sex at times too.
