Prior to going into politics, Obama was a community organizer and charity worker in his hometown of Chicago. Paul Ryan hasn't done a single day of charity work in his life that hasn't been towards the end of gaining him publicity from people like you. Foolish comment? Says the man typing in caps lock with the diction of a 4 year old.
As an aside, I'm not voting for Obama, he's helped the country, but not by much. With that said, It makes me sick that so many of my fellow Americans are voting for two men who've done nothing but **** the poor their entire lives, and are SO blatantly and visibly phony.
I hope you do your country and the rest of the world a favor and take the ******* responsibility to educate yourself on both our country's issues and the candidates. With the advent of the internet, it is easier to do than ever before.
If President Obama had done the very same thing....staging a phony photo-op to bring attention to HIMSELF...NOT the charity...the rightwingnuts would be calling him a communist, terrorist, and worse. The bottom line here is that (1) It was obviously a phony attempt to show people that he really does "CARE" about that "47%", and (2) He likely jeopardized donations to this charity by this selfish act since it was against their rules to get involved in politics for EITHER side. He's a jerk.
When Obama has "unscheduled stops" and meets with the "common folk", his advance team hands out bios on the hand-picked people he will meet prior to his arrival, but we're all supposed to believe that these scheduled and scouted "unscheduled stops" are not really photo-ops but a "caring" man meeting with ordinary people he just happened to run into. Yeah, right.
For self-serving position and political gain, PR = Paul Ryan w/ family will put at risk a Non-profit, Non-Partisan relief organization, FUNDING for the least fortunate AMERICANS... WOW - What will he do to the rest of us (USA) ?
The party who thinks government social safety nets should be abolished and "poor people" should go to charities when they need help, and then one of the "top" people from that party going out and jeopardizing a charity just for self-aggrandizement.
What's he going to do next? Maybe he should steal candy from a baby and then have his picture taken giving the candy back to the baby. The message being "Look how nice he is. He's comforting a crying baby.".
Actually Scimajor, Ryan was clever enough to talk his way in so that he could inspect the dishes for traces of Obamate (the Obama Cool-Aid that has transformed usually kind, compassionate, hard working democrats into mean-spirited, foul-mouthed, Ostrich bloggers who are mesmerized by main stream media cable TV and newspapers.) That's the kind of astute man we need in the White House; don't you think?
Instead of appreciating and taking advantage of getting their organization some press exposure, they can't play along? How sad - what did they think he'd do, cook a meal? It's a brief campaign stop, for gxx sake!
Ryan was trying to reduce soup donations by making them seem not apolitical so that more people would have to work for food, THUSLY, sparking the economic turn around in a small but gentle way. IN ADDITION, he got a good photo-op before Obama.
"Play along" my a$$. He could have given them "press exposure" simply by mentioning them. He didn't have to do anything. Which he hardly did anyway. Phony dude.
Republican's seem to be crying "bloody murder" and accusing the DePaul Society group for favoring Democrats. Simply enough",,,if the Republicans had (and ALL politicians do!) properly "vetted out" the visit to the soup kitchen. they would/should be able to provide a name...THE name of the person who gave them pre-approval to visit. That's where the story is/should be!
Got it all figured out don't you? Have any conspiracy theories? Jeez, the guy runs an apolitical organization to help his fellow human beings and you said he "hates" Republicans? What is news is the fake, transparent effort of the candidate. I bet you Paul Ryan does not have a solid schedule of working in soup kitchens or any other charitable endeavors. If he does, sorry, I apologize. Though, if he did, why not go to that location to film?
