There are lots of other states that need to do the same!! But then again, there are so many illegal's that use stolen or "borrowed" documentation, that it would be hard to tell just who is legal and who isn't.. Same with Social Security numbers!! Don't care if you are Dem or Rep, if you are not legal, you are not eligable to vote. So quit your ******** about the purge!!

AttyFAM - And you need to get some common sense. Our laws are rather clear about who is entitled to vote.

There is nothing wrong with Florida's current voter registration process and as I posted earlier there is little to no eveidence that anyone has registered fraudulantly here in Florida. Is it possible? Of course and that will never change but does/can it happen to the point that fraudulant voter registrants could actually cast enough votes to swing an election? Not likely in the extreme. It would be way to difficult with little likelyhood of meaningful success. I can also tell assure you that the process Florida has set up at the polls would make it next ti impossible to misrepresent someone else in order to cast a vote. In Florida, in order to vote one must first be on the voter registration list for that precinct. Second you must present identification to include photo ID, ID with signature, and proof of current residence and that must match what is in the voter registration for that precinct. No photo and signature - no vote. Address doesn't match rolls then you may cast a provisional ballot and you now have 24 hours to go to your county supervisor of election in person and prove that you were legally allowed to vote in that precinct. No proof then ballot is cast out.

askagain, I don't think you're entitled to vote and a "potential" illegal alien. See how easy that is?

Ah you have that exactly opposite. Our President or your pres just did an executive order allowing over 800 thousand illegals to stay in the US, last time I checked he was a DEMOCRAT. Dems want a dream plan for allof them so they can vote for the free stuff they are getting.
But some illegals are smart why become a citizen, then you have to pay taxes.like Fed Income, Social sec, yea stay illegal get more stuff free and vote if Democrats get their way....

And if Obama wins Florida, he wins the election. Romney has to take Florida and Ohio and Michigan to reach a tie of 269. That is a tall order. Beyond that he has to win either Iowa or Wisconsin to win the election. A still taller order.

Well near there is a huge political difference between Cuban Americans which make up the majority of hispanics in FL and non-Cuban hispanics who comprise the majority elsewhere in the country.

If you had definitive proof that a voter was not a citizen, and you gave them 30 days to dispute it (in the very unlikely chance that they'd just received their citizenship), then I'd be fine with that. I don't want illegal aliens voting in our elections, and I don't rightly care if they are Latino Democrats or Martian Republicans.

However, according to this story, some of the records they are using are outdated. That does not, to my mind, qualify as definitive proof.

And how does a cross-search of data from the Florida Department of Elections and the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles prove anything? Anybody want to take a guess as to how many illegal aliens have US driver's licenses based on false documents?

Hello Jaylah54200 - Last year my wife and I almost missed a Disney cruise which we already paid for when we realized the night before the cruise that our passports were in the bank's safety deposit box. As a result, we had to spend $900 booking a later flight or miss the cruise. If it is ok for the Federal government to require a passport to take a cruise, why can't state and local governments require proof of citizenship to vote? Further, the state of Florida requested a cross check with Federal government record which the Federal government refused. By refusing to cooperate, Florida has to rely on the only tools available to it. In any event, voters whose citizenship is being questioned have 30 days to appeal. That is more time than I had to get my passport out of the bank.

You should know that Florida Secretary has requested multiple times for access to State Department information to confirm voter information and has been denied. Why would your own government refuse to help with identifying possible fraudlent voters?

Little strange isan;t it.
The Obama Administration seems to back only laws that he the ONE thinks is ok.. See AZ and the immigration problem, Well our three year old President got mad because he lost so he cuts AZ off, now Florida is trying to do the right thing and the Ones Attorney General says no.. He enforces laws that are beneficai to him.
Some one tell me why it is easier for a Repug to get ID than it is for a DEM.. Two little rules you got to be legal and alive.

Askagain: you knew you would need your passport from the beginning, and were able to retrieve it and, despite having to rebook your flight as a result of *your own* carelessness, were able to take the cruise.

How does that fairly compare with people who are already legitimately and rightly registered to vote, who are removed from the rolls because of the *state's* error too close to the election to correct the problem?

As a citizen and a taxpayer, why would I want illegal immigrants to vote. Why would Democrats who are citizens and taxpayers want to allow illegal immigrants to vote. And by your post, you infer that a Democratic judge would allow illegal immigrants to vote. Is that ok with you?
AttyFAM replies:

To askagain -

Why would you want to have 1800 legal voters removed from the roles? Because they will vote Democrat? Because their names are Hispanic? You asked the wrong question.
askagain replies:
linkicon reporticon emailicon
AttyFAM - It doesn't matter if their name is Smith or Hernandez. What matters is that they are not entitled to vote by law if they are illegal immigrants. What don't you understand about the word illegal?
rharrin1 replies:

Askagain

A federal judge has refused to stop Florida from removing potentially non-U.S. citizens from its voter rolls.

The magic word is potentially which by definition IS profiling.

OmegaWolf747 - If that were true, we would never see Republican Presidents, Republican Senators, and Republican members of the House, or Republican governors or state legislators. Which political party is popular at any given time changes. Study history and you will discover that we have had many Republicans holding the offices I just listed. Even now, the country is pretty evenly split between a Republican and a Democrat for president in November's election. Care to eat your hat now?

Why is it every time a person wants to have the United States laws upheld there is someone like "AttyFAM" who wants to claim racism without proof of racism but simple rehtoric not even linking it to the current event.

Bigotry may be rife and ripe in this country as verified by your remarks. If a white person yells reverse racism people laugh but if it's a person of different culture it must be true every time.

Time to take off the blinders and realize all people will always have prejudices but not all prejudices are true just because a minority makes a claim and not all claims of reverse racism are false just because it came from a white person.
