What is really sad here is regardless of whether one likes or dislikes gay, mexicans, jews, tall people, fat people, etc, when one makes hiring and promotion decisions based upon factors that have bo bearing on the job then one is hurting both themselves and the individual discriminated against. I would hope that when legislators vote on nominees that the only basis for there vote would be the nominee's qualifications to do the job. Clearly at least Robert Marshall did not base his decision on qualifications.
Gotta tell you George I don't necessarily agree with those decisions either and I am well aware that it happens every day. I am also aware that the VA legislature isn't held to the same standards as private employers either. If my company fired someone or failed to promote them because of sexual orientation all hell would break loose and we would get hammered.

Zann - The VA legislature can reject/select anyone they wish and unlike provate business are not subject to anti-discrimination statutes. Long story short, he can't sue.
