Dan Schwartz. Too stupid to see how liberal the Republican party has become.

Pretty much only conservative in social issues.

Both the Bushes were so liberal they made Clinton look like a conservative stud.

Before we cut funds to schools for American citizens: Do not allow any taxpayer-funded benefits for illegals (education, welfare, food stamps, healthcare, etc.) Brown proposes cutting expenses for Americans while he says nothing about demanding e-Verify or cutting benefits to illegals. There's MANY areas of waste and abuse that need to be cut before schools! Brown knows it; he's playing games to get more tax $ to waste.

Cut funds to all the Sanctuary cities and watch the cost of running them go down. 6 Billion a year for the education, welfare, and care of illegals.

Gov Moonbeam is in the same predicament as Gov Terminator was in. For over a decade, business flight has been crippling Ca. tax revenues. Silicon valley is a former shadow of the 90s. Texas has become the home for many former Californians, other state governors interview Gov Perry on how he siphoned off Californias businesses and working population as Cali for the first time in over 100 years suffers from population loss and loss of congressional seats. Gov Brown is in a tough situation, his base is liberal Democratic, aka Freddy the Freeloaders who want the Cali gov to supply everything for nuttin. Ironically, Gov Perry through a big party, rumored a real gala, celebrating Megs loss to Gov Brown, Perry knew full well a Brown victory meant more businesses and California citizens will be fleeing to the Great State of Texas.

I do not see evidence that high tech went from Silicon Valley to Texas, but I did see Silicon Valley implode after Bush (a Texan) stole the White House.

Plan B
1. Get the public union heads to the negotiating table
2. Cut back on the welfare state

California already has the highest tax burden, learn how to budget.

Seriously. Every election cycle it seems there is some bond measure up for vote to raise money for schools. We pass these things and yet keep being asked to pay more in taxes for schools. *** are they doing with our money?

Fat pensions, yet it's OK for corporations and they're executives and politicians to be greedy but not workers.

See. As I fortold, no talk about cracking down in immigration and the illegals who are defrauding the tax payers. Jerry Brown is too scared to do that; so, lets take away from the schools. (....and put it in the welfare budget so we can support more illegals). Nice thinking, Jerry.

Why crack down on immigration, the farmers and businessmen need illegals for slave labor. Plus they pay them under the table so no Social Security, Medicare, workers comp, unemployment insurance.

Raise taxes or endure crippling cuts to schools. Did we elect him Governor so that he can blackmail Californians? The government is way to big and desperately needs trimming. How about trimming the waste in government before adding additional tax burdens on Californians. How about taking a microscopic look at every state agency and cutting their budgets back to where they were ten years ago. Why do the budgets of state agencies continue to grow while they're providing the same services they provided ten years ago?

Like Obama, Brown did inherit a mess. It was the usual repug plan to lower taxes, increase spending, and the state budget goes in the red. Clinton inherited the same thing from Reagan & Bush. I never thought Clinton would turn it around, but he did. Respectfully, retired US Army Medical Officer.

Hopefully CA will get 2/3 majority in both houses in November. Then we can work to repeal the disaster of Prop 13 that is mostly to have the poor and middle class provide welfare to the rich.

you get rid of prop 13 and there is absolutely nothing to keep the legislature from jacking up your property tax every year.

Proposition 13 has been killing California schools since 1980. The evil out of state wrong wingers convinced home owners to be greed, so that they could make a bundle on commercial rentals. I hope the authors burn for it.

Lets say I own an internet buisness that earns 10 Million per year and pays me 1 million per year.
Business pays 1.3 million in cali taxes and I pay $130,000.
Moving to Florida, Texas or Nevada, Business will change my income tax rate to zero.
Florida, Texas and Nevada, also want my business, and employees so they will give incentives to move that will lower the business rate from 1.3 million to zero .
In 10 years I will have saved 1.3 million that I can use for retirement and help my kids and charities. My business will have saved 13 Million that I can invest to grow new buisness.

Or I can stay in California and pay them 14.3 Million in taxes.

Seems to me the prudent buisness decision would be to leave the state with my employees and take my jobs elsewhere.
Not sure how this will help your budget deficit problem. But you have to remember Jerry its your problem, not mine.
It seems to me before you offered to pay for illegal immagrants education last october, you might have wanted to consider how you were going to pay for it. But then again, I dont look at an annual deficit in my buisness and say oops I was off by 5 Billion a year.
JP Morgan makes a 2 billion dollar oops and its front page news. You double down on that and expect us buisness to pay for it ... Thanks But No thanks.

The prudent business solution is to bring in more jobs so that the state doesn't need raise taxes to keep an acceptable level of services going IN THE FIRST PLACE. (See one of my posts below for more details.)

Now, if you want "free market" then your business shouldn't expect handouts and be able to survive on its own (which means stop begging taxpayers for stadiums if you own a baseball team, especially if the team keeps putting out one bad season after another, you've earned NOTHING).

But companies want handouts while telling us we're supposed to be "free market".

So it's free market for us, special perks and bailouts for them. Sounds like socialism for them since they get a free ride... or at least corporatism...

But if you want no government, then be prepared for the ramifications, and nobody is going to see you as being worthy either. You can't pay your own way when the wages and jobs to be self-sufficient aren't there, now can you? But they are for the "job creators". Yet labor creates all wealth, so you as a "wealth creator" better start thinking.

And thanks to corporate personhood, most corporations can now be locked up for their psychopathic tendencies... since they clearly show no signs of evolved or even Christian attitudes...

Corporations pay only 9.6% of the state budget and only 7% of the national budget. Decades ago corporations paid 40% of the national budget. They claimed they needed tax breaks to keep jobs here while they took the tax breaks sent jobs out of the country...what a con job.

ret,

That is correct, it is the right wing free lunch. The working poor will pay for everything while the business owner enjoys the resources and profits.

California wanted Jerry "The Clown" Brown who when coupled with a democrat legislature spelled fiscal disaster for the state right out of the box. Any productive people can vote with their feet and leave the California border in their rearview mirror. Meanwhile the parasitic part of the population continues to grow exponentially as tax revenues decline. Absent a thinning of the herd starting at the bottom, that state is doomed. And, soon, this problem will be coming to state near you, if not already there.
