He should not resign, sounds like an honest mistake. Let's not be touchy. (I'm an Obama supporter).

The email is not only racist but goes after women. He says he is not a fan of Obama. This comment alone should force Cebull to recluse himself on any case that has the support of the President. He needs to resign in order that the judiciary is not dragged down to the gutter.

I think he should resign, but not just because of the email. It is what the email implicates. Just think of the cases that will come before him that involve African Americans and other minorities. If the judge finds them guilty or imposes harsh sentences his decisions will be questioned and appealed, even if the defendant deserved the sentence. Or we can go to the other end of the spectrum and if he finds a minority defendant not guilty then others may believe that he is giving those people a free ride because he is trying to make up for these past transgressions. It is all a matter of perception and he has clouded his image and ruined his reputation.

FormerUSMCSergeant says:
The judge apologized and acknowledged that the content of the email was racist but said he does not consider himself racist, the newspaper reported.

Bigots never openly admit to being such.

As in "Yeah, I promote racist material but I don't think that way myself".......

PUHLEASE.

From his WORK computer? That alone should disqualify him from being a judge! Does anything think HE is possibly a waste of taxpayer dollars?

An apology will not do. Mr. Cebull is a deep dyed racist. Who else would find an obnoxious joke like the one he sent through e-mail funny? He is also stupid and arrogant. Who else would send such a message through e-mail knowing how often they go viral. One cannot legislate the human heart. Cebull is what he is. And because of that, he is not fit to be a judge in the judiciary system of the United States. No judgement he renders from this day will have any credibility. He is an insult to the American justice system. If Mr. Cebull has any shame, any dignity left, he should resign.

if the joke is racist, and he recognizes that, why did he send it on, unless he agreed with the subtext? the judge has poor judgment in a lot of things.

If he weren't a racist, he wouldn't have to say, "I'm not a racist".

@slightly - Just because you find racial humor funny does not mean you're not a racist. I'm of Irish and Italian descent, and I LOVE Irish and Italian jokes. They're funny! Well, the funny ones are, that is. But still, you can find humor in a situation, and not be a racist.

@Howard - You do know that makes no sense, right? That logic does not work. "If I am not X, but I say that I am not X, then I am X." That's not even close to being correct.
