so whats new it was a joke 6 months ago its a joke today , these people dont care about you and i. just more of do nothing . not one of these morons have a family member, going hungry or deciding to pay for electric or buy food. now winter is coming on . no longer a DEM or REP. thing. UNITED STATES is a sick sick sick nation.
I, for one, am glad they failed. Compromise sucks, it's for losers. In this case, "compromise" is for holding out until the other side caves. Republicans; little to gain, nothing to lose, - Democrats; nothing to gain, everything to lose. Too bad nobody told these elder statesmen there was a deadline to their noble endeavor.
How is failure good? If our leaders in Washington do not start working together this country has no chance. This country will be unrecognizable if we continue down this path, and I do not mean it will just be bad for the poor. It will be bad for everyone. Even that nasty 1% people are complaining about. They just don't realize they need the 99% to make the money for them to steal. They just can't continue stealing our money if their is none left.
Seems that Grover Norquist has never held a private or public sector job. He is dependent on donations. Can't find any work history on this wacko, no paying job. Being a self appointed lobbyist, banging the tambourine for contributions? This guy couldn't survive in the libertarian world he dreams of.
The problem with the whole deal is you are asking the same people who making a million dollars a year to raise their own taxes... The vote on their own wage increases, their benefits, and anything else that benefits them. Maybe their should group of economists that are a government appointed panel that votes on things of this nature, so this way congress does not end up with this self interest voting power....
There's a lot of talk about it and its partially tried in Switzerland. But its never been tried 100%. No, I'm not any more afraid of a crowd of people than I am of having ONE person in control at the top, or as it really is right now - having MONEY in control of everything!
Mortar YOU are the one who mentioned "you learned it in the military". The world does NOT need to be run like one giant military! That is for DAMNED sure! I understand why the military has to be run that way - but NOT the whole country, thank you very much!
I am sick and tired of allowing people corrupted by money to make decisions for me! MONEY OUT - Direct Democracy In!
The result of the 'super committee' is a default to the mandated 1.5 trillion in cuts beginning in 2013. Of course, with an election coming in 2012, I see that being nothing more than a way for these so called politicians to attempt re-election because they did not vote for tax increases or hard line cuts to social programs. With that in mind, what is to prevent a new congress from simply blocking these cuts and to re-instate funding to the defense budget and go back to spending more borrowed money.
It is obvious that Washington is hopeless. The only thing they understand is losing their jobs - and all the incredible benefits and perks they get.(http://www.thecapitol.net/FAQ/payandperqs.htm) The only thing I can do is vote out any incumbent - without regard for party affiliation. I will vote for the candidate with the best chance of beating the incumbent. If enough Americans do this these fools in Washington MAY get the message - which is get back to representing the people and not the party.
We either need direct democracy or more political parties, two additional ones to be exact. All issues can be split into social issues (or "family values") versus economic issues (or "social justice", not to be confused with social issues). The Democrats are to the left on both categories, while the Republicans are to the right on both. We need a new party that is left/right and another that is right/left to round out voters' desires. The left/right would probably be a libertarian party. What would be the right/left? (Christian Socialism?)
There would have to be some limitations - just like there are limitations as to what our President can do. Like you can't vote to take other's votes away. You can't vote to have someone killed. You can't vote to take someones god-given rights away.
And it took them this long to decide they could not come to a conclusion?
WOW, I am impressed. It surely exposes them as politicians who must have slow-pace. There is an old saying, "You can't get there from here." Their's should be, "You can't get there from here or anywhere else.
Individuals that signed the Grover Norquist pledge need to re-examine their actions. We are often told to think outside the box, and this action, quite frankly, requires NO thinking, No compromise and ties the hands of the people that are elected. I as another voter would at the very least; would want my representation accomplished by open minded, free thinking and individuals that are interested in guiding the country with direction. We need to inform both the Republican and Democratic parties to get over it, and do something that is good for the country. The approval rating of Congress should be blasted over loud speakers into their offices every morning for several minutes. We don't like the way you are representing your voters, and it is getting closer the 99% all the time, UNFORTUNATELY!
I want to cast my own vote - I'm tired of my vote not counting just because I'm surrounded by republicans - and then whoever gets elected gets bought by special interests and we end up with NO representation at all!

One person -one vote -one issue!
Where EVERY single person in the country got a vote on EVERY single issue?
There's a lot of talk about it and its partially tried in Switzerland. But its never been tried 100%. No, I'm not any more afraid of a crowd of people than I am of having ONE person in control at the top, or as it really is right now - having MONEY in control of everything!

I'm tired of having to choose which "platform" to go for - when there are things I don't agree with on all of them.
One Issue - One Vote.

One person - one issue - one vote.
Was that 100 percent of the voters? 65 percent? 45 percent? 25 percent? Or, was it less?
