Did any sane person truly believe this gaggle of self serving, cowardly politicos would ever agree on any hard choices? This entire government is totally dysfunctional and this once great Republic is heading down the sewer at warp speed.
if the super committe fails, they should all do the honorable thing and resign. or, they should be recalled from their office. if they can't do the job, they should get out and let someone else give it a shot. blame the voters who elected these specific clowns into office not the entire congress or all voters across the nation. obama could have helped by not spending one billion to overthrow libya's qaddafi and still can help by withdrawing all troops from afghanistan by april 1st of 2012. instead obama is sending troops to australia, another garrison in another foreign nation state. blame voters who voted for obama, not the entire USA.
I'm surprised the affirmative action hires who run this site even tried to touch this topic.
With major distractions like OWS, Herman Cain, Sandusky and now Natalie Wood to keep everyone's attention diverted away from Iran nukes, the MF Global collapse, Solyndra, Fast and Furious, and the complete economic implosion of the European Union...a story on this topic just doesn't seem to fit.
I agree there's been a lot of distracting, stupid stories but your affirmative action comment makes you look like a troglodyte, and ruins the message your trying to convey. It's also logically disproving it's own assertion - ie: the people did in fact run this story so they are thus not affirmative actions.
Frankly if you think this site is run by AA's and not worth reading then why are you here posting?
That's funny. I'm going to guess you're either an AA hire yourself, or you're the person in charge of doing AA hires for your company.
First of all, I said I was surprised this story was run. The level of bad journalism and lack of talent across the board these days on almost every mainstream news website can only be explained by affirmative action hires. Second, the fact this story was run doesn't prove or disprove anything. If anything the story only backs up the ascertainment of AA because it barely scratches the surface of what's going on.
Any by the way, I post here mainly to illustrate how biased the mainstream media is in their coverage, plus, I couldn't give a rats butt what you think I "look like." If you think I'm such a troglodyte, then why did you reply to one? Because on some level you think you're a trog as well? lol
Also, your comment about money being printed illustrates you a lack of knowledge about the difference between accrual accounting and cash accounting. George W. Bush made decisions that created liabilities (accounts payable)for the US government. Then, it's the job of the guy who takes over after him to actually pay the bills. Sometimes guys who divorce spendthrift wives go through this exact same process.
Besides your misanthropy, you ought to get some help with your hubris; it's always dangerous to shoot your mouth off, when you don't really know what you're talking about.
subiedude: Have you ever taken a course in Economics? Also, have you ever consulted a medical professional about your misanthropy? Psychiatrists have mede pretty good progress in understanding people with the problems you exhibit in your post. Also, just for the heck of it, reflect on how much Republican intransigence in raising the debt limit is going to cost future generations in higher interest payments because of the uncertainty they created within S&P.
If you had any understanding of economics or business finance, you would understand why the pump needs to be primed. For instance, I have over 25 years experience as a CFO in the trenches of running several companies, and I've seen companies recover from a negative cash flow situation by spending more on marketing, sales and development efforts, so that the company grows out of its cash flow problem. That's always a preferable alternative to an experienced businessman than slashing costs and services.
Your comment "there are jobs out there" is somewhere between simplistic and sophomoric. So, the 4 or 5 million people who have been unemployed for more than 6 months, just have to go on craigslist, and their problems will be solved. You must be a fan of Michelle Bachmann; she just lectured a group of college students saying essentially the same thing, but not mentioning craigslist. She said, "just get a job". How stupid all those people who don't have jobs must be, but you two have the "answer". somehow, your attitude reminds me of that wonderful picture of George W. Bush take about 10 years ago on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Iraq, just after Hussein's army was defeated, and behind Bush there was an enormous banner that proclaimed in capital letters, "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED". Do you always think in one dimension, or do you sometimes expand to two, or maybe even three?
The pump WAS primed when Bush bailed out all the bankers and Obama bailed out all the automakers. And the fact is that while the real unemployment rate is around 20% when you count all of the stopped-looking job seekers, the unemployment rate among WHITE COLLAR workers is only around 4%.
There is no question in my mind that the economy for educated workers has recovered. I am currently proofing Resumes for a business that's looking to hire for a technical position and I have seen a number of them come in saying that they quit their last position for various reasons, some for family, some to move - and these are $75K a year and above positions. Sure they could be lying but if they are they are going to have to answer the question of why did you quit such a high paying position when the economy is so bad? I didn't see that sort of thing a few years ago - then, most people said "laid off because the company was doing bad" or some such.
The real problem is that the US economy for uneducated workers has NOT recovered. 6 years ago we could stuff those people into Construction but those days are over. This is putting a huge burden on state and federal agencies and that is where our federal dollars are going.
Congress and the White House are thieves. It doesn't matter who's there. They take and take and waste and waste, enriching themselves and their financial backers. No one has any respect for them, left or right. None should get any pension. If you aren't outraged, you're not paying attention. Next time you vote, pick someone other than a Republican or Democrat; unfortunately, none-of-the-above is not available yet.
So, I guess you're saying, "don't vote". Explain to me how that makes things better. Or are you advocating just giving up and moving to another country, like Canada or Australia, and leaving the tatters of a once great country for someone else to fix?
Our current crop of elected officials and candidates is pretty dismal, particularly on the GOP side, but that means that people like you and me, who hopefully care about the future of America have to get involved in the political process. I spent 11 years flying fighter planes in the Navy, and one thing we all learned was to never give up. Never!
And then what? Tearing down isn't the issue. Electing a Congress that will run the country intelligently is. The voters have managed to do this in the past, and they can again. Realistically, you can't kill both of the parties in a two party political system, but you can elect better people to represent us and get back to the underlying "republic" concept of government, that is mentioned in the pledge of allegiance - "and to the republic for which it stands".
Once again the little people has to suffer, it's truly a shame what politics has become in this country; the recent 60 minutes news program gives us no hope whatsoever. The only thing that these scumbags care about is the Benjamin Franklin.
Cutting the deficit when people have jobs again is an acceptable idea. Cutting the deficit when so many people don't have jobs (in other words, now) is a stupid idea.
That is really nice, EXCEPT who is going to pay for all this spending to make you feel good? There are jobs out there, go look at Craigslist and Monster, but people wont apply for them when they get gov't hand outs. So BHO should have the treasury start printing more money again? He has already printed $3 trillion since he took office. Oh yes, you think we should just dump this on our kids and grandkids to pay for. Well it is soon too late. we are now at 99.3% of debt to GDP thanks to excessive democrat spending. At 100% it becomes theoretically and mathamatically impossible to repay. 100% should happen some time in March.
