Comments on: Steele Calls Obama Health Plan "Socialism"
Republican Party Chairman Accuses Democrats of Conducting a "Risky Experiment"
- Did Rush Limbaugh approve of Steele's comments, or will he be apologizing in front of the whole country - AGAIN - for saying something before checking with his puppet master?

- For the now destroyed republican party ,they secret socialism for the rich & big business,& pure feudalism for their nation-for this they had to go back prior to the radical left wing agnostic founding fathers,to dark age Europe.

- DaVicar--
I am single and have no children. I am a homeowner. Roughly 2/3 of my local property taxes go to pay for someone else's children to go to school. I do not receive a break in my taxes for not having children in my local public schools. Whether on the local, State or Federal level, the principle is the same--someone else is using my money to pay for their benefit.
Question 1: Is this "Socialism"? Why or why not?
Question 2: Do you think this practice should be outlawed with each family having to pay per child for their own children's education? Why or why not? - Reply to this comment
- i'm not sure but you sure summarized the debate in a fallacious manner and managed to bring race into it. congratulations a true liberal of the first water. Insult and attack and with the idea that anyone against your ideas is either bigotted or stupid.
anytime a liberal gets into trouble he throws out the race card. Intelligent discussion be damned - Reply to this comment
- What is it with black politicians about using the term "cabal." Earlier this was an accusation by former United States Secretary of State Colin Powell's chief of staff, Lawrence Wilkerson, "who claimed that the Bush administration's foreign policy is run by a "Cheney-Rumsfeld cabal" implying a sinister intent." Now we have a black RNC chairman dredging up images of the infamous "syphilis" experimentation with a reference to "a risky experiment with our health care." Talk about black on black crime! The head "cabal rouser" BOASTS they will "stop at nothing" to bring anything Obama offers to a screeching halt. And all the time, this RNC totem will have medical care insurance 45 million Americans cannot afford. Actually, he'll have health insurance 80% of Americans cannot afford. While the typical American spends $8300 a year on medical care, even if they don't use it, he wants us to listen to him babble about cabal. Why is it the "haves" are always asking the "have nots" to be patient, to wait, to sacrifice and slay the evil dragon offering them something more than lip service?

- France has the highest rated healthcare system in the world. America is 36th. France's healthcare system costs Frenchmen HALF what America's healthcare system costs Americans (or about half). America's is the most expensive in the world, and leaves 50 million people uninsured: a scandal in ANY developed nation.
This is the cost of going with our 'non-socialist' system. At what point do we just cut our losses and leave it? No one else practices it, and they all think we're nuts to keep trying to make it work. The fact is, when you privatize healthcare, the first thing the corporations do is meet in a back room and determine HOW to make higher profits by colluding to rip off their customers. THATS NOT CAPITALISM, THATS COLLUSION. That's not competition, THAT's cooperation to rip-off the little guy who will NEVER get invited to the back room. The oil companies do the same thing. And if gov't decides to advocate for the little guy, as it should, the first thing these corporations do is grease their palm, and its back to business as usual. There's been enough of this going on already. ITS NOT CAPITALISM, ITS CORPORATISM. Yet, Steele is perfectly alright with it. - Reply to this comment

- So, I wonder? What kind of health care insurance does Michael Steele have? He might view it differently if he had no health care insurance, like 46 million or more United States citizens.
If it is socialism to make sure all have health care, then so be it. Because it is the humane thing for a government to do for its people. - Reply to this comment

- So, whats the difference you're still going to have a clerk telling physicians what procedure to perform. The only difference will be that clerk will be a government employee.

- It really amazes me how so many of you scream about having your pockets picked in order to help people who cannot help themselves and then brag about what great "christians" you are. If you really were christian you would want to help those less fortunate. But your choice is to just sit back and watch as our jobs are lost and we lose our homes. The republican way is the way of GREED and it will be the downfall of this great country. Look at other countries where the wealthy control everything and there is nothing left to the masses. That is what the republicans support. And they will win in the end. The middle class will be just "the good old days" and the masses will suffer like you won't believe. Is this just gloom and doom? No. It is happening and most of you just refuse to see it. Ask yourself what answers the republicns have. What are they doing to create new jobs that pay a living wage? How long will it be until no one has the money to buy the products to support the economy. What happens then? When the super rich have it all, where will YOU be? Ask yourself.

- I like the part where the 'pubs are saying that insurance companies will be run out of business.
hoooooooo... that's soooo scary... not...
While we're on the subject, how about all those steel mills & such that got shut down under reagan? And you want to sweat insurance company jobs?
weird... - Reply to this comment
- That's a very good point. Thanks for making it.

- The current system is one of collusion whereby the major insurance firms work together to deny coverage..that's corporate socialism.
Having the government instill competition and choice into the private markets is not socialism but is the essence of capitalism. - Reply to this comment
- Obama's solution is to add 1 TRILLION (1,000,000,000,000,000,000) over the next ten years, of money we don't have and he can't provide. Yet he lies to us about pay/go.

Talk about lies 1,000,000,000,000 is one trillion dollars. Speakinup has to make his point by lying.
Ooooh if I add a whole bunch of zeros they will say how big of a number that is and hate the Dems. Typical Bush era propaganda.

- Steele, like most Republicans, is a lying idiot. Without the intellect to discuss any issue on its merits, Steele does like all conservatives. He throws out words calculated to cause fear-mongering among the American people. I cannot recall any actions taken by Republicans to help our country. Instead, anything they do is calculated to line their pockets and those of their supporters, who are anything but ordinary American citizens, with money. How did a political party that claims to have been founded by Abraham Lincoln and to have God on its side become so selfish and hateful that it wishes for its fellow citizens to fail at anything that would be helpful to them and our country? These sick weasels need to feel full force the wrath of true Americans everywhere by being completely deprived of governmental power through removal from office. Come 2010, we need to show the G.O.P. exactly what true Americans think of them by voting them out of every office they hold!!!
