Excerpts Prom Portfolio Magazine: Sarah Palin's Pipe Dreams

Editor's Note: On July 3, Sarah Palin stunned the nation's political establishment and her own state of Alaska when she announced she'd be resigning as governor.

What she did (or didn't do) to promote the development of a $40 billion gas pipeline will be a crucial part of her short history in office. This story, which was first published on March 17, delved into the long and complicated history of a pipeline that doesn't exist.

Sarah Palin Pipeline Lies: During the vice-presidential debate, she said it again...

?We?re building a nearly $40 billion natural-gas pipeline, which is North America?s largest and most expensive infrastructure project ever.?

How better to defang the industry that had ruled Alaska like a colonial master for 40 years than to make sure its major players would be no more than spectators at the state?s next grand pageant, the building of a new pipeline that would carry natural gas from Alaska?s North Slope to what Palin called the ?hungry markets? of the Lower 48?

In her zeal, however, Palin overlooked one salient fact: It was Alaska?s three largest oil producers?Exxon Mobil Corp., BP, and ConocoPhillips Co.?that controlled the natural gas the new pipeline would need if it were ever to pump anything more than hot air.

By writing the rules in a way that excluded the oil companies from the process,

Palin, although she gained the short-term approval-rating points that made her seem attractive to McCain last summer,

But assured that the ?largest private-sector infrastructure project in North America? would never be anything more than her personal field of dreams.

McCain got thrown under a bus on this deal. She quit, and even if she didn't the opposition will play it that way. The Republicans no longer have a party...they just have a mess after a party.

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation,"

WHY?

Is she thinking about changing sides maybe? Whichever side will take her?
Hoping to get on the good side of the Democrats? She probably doesn't care what side it is as long as she get's to be Queen of the castle.

Failing Palin saw the money and is now bailing. Failing Palin got critized and now is wailling. Failin Palin was very overbearing and now she's qualing.

Ii would have been better if she had quit while she was ahead. The only problem with that is that she was always behind. Since she walked out on the goverenship of a state it is not likely that most voters will give her any thought of all when selecting a leader for higher office. She basically screwed herself politcally.

Born in the USA? Are you retarded?

"the act of Congress of 1790 which states that a "natural born citizen" means any citizen whose parents are American citizens and who would naturally be considered a citizen no matter where they were actually born due to their parents citizenship. Americans do not know their own law--or else they would know that the challenges they make to Obama were already resolved in 1790 (Act of March 26, 1790, ch. 3, 1 Stat. 104) which states "the children of citizens of the United States, that may be born beyond sea, or out of limits of the United States shall be considered as natural born citizens" please feel free to cut and paste this and hopefully put a lot of ignorant conjecture about Obama to rest.

The rule also is "If the mother ofa an "illegitimate" child is a US citizen, her foreign born child is a US citizen by birth if she had ever spent at least one year's worth of continuous, literal, physical presence in the US. This means Obama's mom being a citizen and having lived in KS made him a US citizen no matter WHERE he was born. This applies even if the father is not a citizen. A child only needs on US citizen parent to be considered a citizen though an illegitimate child where the mother is from another country faces other hurdles.

Hope all of this helps--for those who would like a web site on this issue--look up richw.org/dualcit/faq.html or google dual citizenship--see pg 12 of 20 for info about when a child can be considered a US citizen--natural born...and see pg 13 of 20 at the bottom of the page (section 15) to see the law of 1790 which established the citizenship of persons born outside our borders--to at least one US citizen parent. "

Catch a clue--Kilroy.

Surely you jest. This is politics--no issue is ever put to bed--if she runs--all issues will be resurrected and reaired on tv on all channels and you tube including Sarah's ethics problems and her infamous Couric speeches--in fact, even if she comes off as half intelligent--she will be eclipsed by the clips of her being a ditz played over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over--until no matter what--she will be known by the Saturday night clips and no one will even hear what she says or has become.

She is a cariacature--if she runs, the press and the Dems and the bloggers and youtube will eviscerate her. Bet on it.

mnmaid, perhaps you could tell us all how you came by the information that Obama has asked anyone to say negative things about Palin? After all, she is her own worst enemy and all anyone has to do is step back and let her doom herself by the increasingly ignorant statements she makes. Nothing Obama could do could make it any worse than she is making it for herself.

It's ignorant supporters (like you) that keep the fires stoked instead of ignoring her and helping the repugnicans find their way again.

All Republicans took a secret oath to never admit that they made a mistake, never admit that they were wrong and never own up or take responsibility for anything. That is why they turned on Sanford...it wasn't the affair, it was that he went on and on about it and copped to many faults. McCain can't admit Sarah was a flake and a mistake--and Sarah can't admit that not studying and learining policy was a mistake--and Bush can't admit the war in Iraq was a mistake and REpublicans can't admit that electing Bush twice was a mistake. It is their one credo--those who were able to admit that Bush was a huge mistake also had to leave the party or were kicked out--ala Buckley.

If any Dems dare to have Palin help to campaign for them--they may as well switch parties and declare themselves Republicans because their Democratic base will desert them. Still, I have to admit that this move is sort of ingenious in that Palin is trying to be an Obama like candidate--willing to reach across the aisle to either party--but with her intelligence deficit, any outreach is bound to perceived as a stunt and the person who hosts her as a shill for the GOP.

If only some of the idiots who spend so much time writing garbage in these comment sections would quit as easily as Palin quits when it suits her agenda. I wouldn't trust Palin to follow through on anything. When she gets tired of defending herself she goes fishing. That's a great idea..why don't all the radicals here just go fishing!!!
