Comments on: Cheney Linked to Concealing CIA Project
New York Times: Former Vice President Ordered CIA to Withhold Information on Counterterrorism Project from Congress
- Cheney lying to Congress. Now, there's a surprise. Cheney has done nothing but cover up and mislead his entire ill-begotten tenure in office. Next to Aaron Burr, Cheney is the most corrupt vice-president we have ever had in this nation. If there is any justice in this country, Cheney will spend the rest of his life behind bars in an American prison---or a foreign one for war crimes. Cheney is a pariah in American politics. He and Bush needs to pay for their crimes.

- The CIA is full of it, the VP has no authority or order anything, he is nothing more than an ornament unless the President dies or otherwise leaves office, oh and he gets to sit in congress and break a tie.

- This focus on Obama as 'not an American citizen' has all the hallmarks of true desperation. You could almost set your clock by it.

OK, I shouldn't have suggested you were a traitor, that's nonsense. (Drink talking) Al-Qaeda, sorry to say, is a pimple. The real danger is the overwhelming force, intelligence, and faith-based powers of our OWN military. And if you don't think you and yours can be effected negatively by that, I invite to you to study the fate of several million loyal German's between 1930 and 1946. They came into 1930 insolvent (sound familiar), and left 1946 personally responsible for 40 million deaths. - Reply to this comment

- the current administration has a lot to do to keep the country going forward -- RIGHT NOW ...

LMAO!!! You mean by doubling unemployment, halving the stock market, quadrupling the Federal Deficit, expanding the War and spending every unencumbered cent we have? Honey, that not "FORWARD" thats "DOWNWARD"! - Reply to this comment
- America is NOT over.
Plenty of us care.
In case many of you haven't noticed, the current administration has a lot to do to keep the country going forward -- RIGHT NOW ... please let me repeat.. RIGHT NOW, it would be unproductive and disastrous to even say they intend to address these issues. Have any of you noticed how ANYTHING this administration does gets more crapola dropped on it than a rock at a seagull convention -- from the minority party ... in Congress and in commentary?
Please have a bit of patience, I don't know for sure (no crystal ball here...) -- but my guess is this isn't the last of the information we'll be getting about Bush Administration malfeasance. It will get to a point where the current administration can't ignore it. And they won't, we the people flat out will not let them.
Let's get ourselves back on a good financial grounding and do some things necessary to secure us from within...and move forward before we get all serious about the sins of the past.

Before you post, it might be a good idea to check into some FACTS.
The most blaring fact you have neglected is that it is ILLEGAL for the CIA to act WITHIN the USA. Their charter expressly forbids this activity, though other agencies are not prohibited.
Another more debatable, but still factual point you ignore is that the CIA can legally keep certain details of their activity secret from the Congress members they are required to brief, thus certain "top secret" information remains only available to the agency and the Executive branch.
If some big mouthed congressman reported classified information to the media, he or she would be feeding that mouth with food served in a federal prison. This is why we still don't know exactly what classified program is being discussed in this article. - Reply to this comment
- Cheney never had the authority to "order" the CIA to withold information from Congress. This is like Son of Sam claiming the dog next door "ordered" him to kill people!
If I tell someone to jump off a bridge and they do, I'm hardly to blame. - Reply to this comment

- Absolute BS. In all, there were three or four islamic thugs who got water-boarded. One was a major terrorist /murderer,who under water-boarding, revealed vital info that prevented attacks. There was no systematic mass torture.
Some of you, here, will stop at nothing to damage our country, our safety and our freedom including siding with barbaric killers. - Reply to this comment
- Wow...reading some people actually trying to defend yet another violation of the Constitution by the Cheney-Bush administration is astonishing. Do you people not know or care what the actual United States stands for? At every turn, the Cheney-Bush administration did everything in their power to eliminate our founding justifications and ideals that actually make us an important part of history. It really is pathetic.

- It's truly terrifying for me to think how close we came to losing our way of life under the Cheney Administration. I feel it very likely that if another major terrorist attack had occurred on his watch, he would have suspended the Constitution, turned this country into a dictatorship, and launched a war against the entire Muslim world. P.S. Who knows how many other secret programs Cheney instigated and are still operating today.

- so, for other countries to come here and kill thousands at a time (9/11), to come here and indoctrinate their cultures to our country is OK ??????? You wax poetic, but not realistic.

You are right! Obama is a security risk because he has a BIG MOUTH! He runs his mouth about everything!
The problem is the MEDIA! They can't keep their mouths shut! For some reason they seem to feel the necessity in printing everything he says and does. They were bad before, but they are even worse now. - Reply to this comment
- FISA was the law during this and FISA approved the vast majority of the requests. If Bush wanted to have the law changed, he had a Republican Congress to do so. Bush chose to ignore the law, which violated the law.
