- "I don't think the stimulus that was passed is going to be much help," Romney said. "The stimulus that was passed was, unfortunately, focused more on government and creating employment inside government than it was creating jobs in the private sector."
Wish these Dumb Repugs will have a plan instead of just screaming NO. What Romney seems to be stating here is a return to the old Trickle-Down create jobs in the Private BS that could not prevent this mess we'd gotten in - At least give this current stimulus package a chance to work. The retirement benefit of affordable health care is not "socialism" it is one benefit of many years of service. Your 3 years of service did not carry the stipulation that you would receive medical benefits, my 20+ years did carry that benefit. If you have a problem with those of us that receive this benefit then maybe you should talk to someone in congress or the senate. Since the Dems took control 2 years ago they have made a effort to raise my premiums. Shows what the liberals like you think of this service.
Of COURSE it's socialism!! Many, many, many people today are losing their benefits because the companies they used to work for, are filing bankruptcy - like GM and Chrysler to name just two. Those people put in 30 or 40 years and are NOW losing their health care benefits because their former employers are broke, and you assert that they should "go without" because they're "unwilling or too lazy to make the effort to improve their lives".
Well America is broke too, so maybe you should lose your benefits too, instead of relying on WORKING PEOPLE, such as myself, to support the socialization of your outrageously over generous medical benefits.
Your attitude sucks. You act like you "served the people" of America, while taking THEIR money to support YOUR benefits, and then acting like "I got mine, so F them if they have health issues and their employers don't provide them with benefits, or never had them in the first place".
Your "service" is comparable to the waitress that spills hot coffee in your lap, and then expects a very generous tip when you leave. - Reply to this comment

Maybe you should pony up $15,000 / year for your own health care benefits, or $500 co-pays every time you go to the doctor's office?
Everyone else's premiums are soaring through the roof, and their benefits are being denied forcing them to pay the costs out of their own pockets, so why should YOU be exempt?
"Socialization" is "evil" except when YOU take advantage of it, that's your position?
And who exactly do you think is "unwilling or too lazy to make the effort to improve their lives"?
A factory worker that just lost his job, and can't find another one?
An employee at a firm that has been there working hard everyday for 30+ years, only to have their employer end their health care plan, leaving them uncovered?
A new employee at a company, that isn't even OFFERED a health insurance plan?
A man or woman who suddenly becomes disabled, can't perform their job anymore, so they lose their job AND health insurance?
You've got the whole conservative "I got mine, so F everyone else" down to a science. And then you have the balls to talk about how we should pay for the socialization of YOUR health care benefits because it's "the small price I should pay for the 22 1/2 years you dedicated to our freedom and protection"?
I served three years in the military - maybe you should pay for mine now?

- Hungry you are missing their point and they make it so well. As long as it is them on the receiving end it is their "right". The rest of the country does not have those "rights" and when anyone tries to see that everyone is treated fairly those whose "rights" are being questioned go on the offensive. This is and has always been about and between the haves and have nots and how dare we try to help the have nots.

Not ruling anything out? Obama did say he would not raise taxes on those making <$250k a year and now that is an option. Can't keep his word? or just made promises to get elected? Sounds a bit like Bush 1 "Read my lips...."
AGAIN - turn off the "speculation channel". It's confusing you. - Reply to this comment

The cost for me is $460 a year for the family plan. Why should you pay for my medical? Maybe it is the small price you pay for the 22 1/2 years I dedicated to your freedom and protection. No, not FFFF everyone else. FFFF those who are unwilling or too lazy to make the effort to improve their lives, the lives of their children and society as a whole.

- Welfare is currently assisting 1.5 million people out of a population of over 300 million people. Whether these individuals "wont" work or can't work is a matter of opinion. However, to say that these are the majority of Democratic supporters is not only false but a mathematic impossibility. For those who would bash the stimulus, you need to look at the TARP that the Republicans pushed through as "urgent" and "critical", TARP was supposed to stabilize the banks thereby increasing lending. Credit is still frozen with many companies losing the ability to maintain their employee base, which has created more unemployed. Sitting and bashing one side or the other while the country sinks is not helping anyone. If we do not start working together to pull this country out of this mess we will see the next Great Depression.

I read it. He NEVER said that he was proposing raising taxes, and simply said it was NOT being ruled out as an option.
No options are being ruled out just yet. Sounds smart to me.
