I am amazed he is still in office. Adultery is private. Leaving the state for 5 days with no one having a way to contact you in case of an emergency is unacceptable and warrants dismissal. Keep in mind, it was only due to the fact that he got wind of the firestorm that was brewing that he didn't stay away the full ten days.

We don't have all the information, only what the media tells us. Every single married man on the planet is guilty in their minds of the same thing. I hope he re-builds his life and can move on with God's forgiveness and hope. Sure, damage was done that cannot be repaired. I hope he finds a way to re-build his life and heart.

Maybe, if a politician is caught in adultery he stays in office and the voters decide the next time around whether they want to retain him. However, Sanford is not just an adulterer. He is also a thief. He used taxpayer money to take a trip to Argentina to see his mistress. This is grand larceny. It is a crime of turpitude. He should be impeached and imprisoned.

The rule is that Democrats have to resign when affairs are revealed -and endure loud outrage from Republicans for years to come. Republicans, on the other hand, are allowed to apologize and return to public life, like Bob Dole, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh and other standard bearers of impeccable morality.

The 49-year-old Sanford said. "And all of us will have critics, and the higher you go, I suppose, the more critics you have."

Thats also true the lower you go...

My thoughts exactly! There's too much money at stake! It is evident that he has no personal ethics or morals!

He should quit! In fact he should be fired or impeached! If any of us pulled his stunt and didn't show up for work for days and left no word with anyone about where we'd be or when we'd be back or how they could contact us, we should expect to be fired and we should be! In fact we wouldn't have a job when we came back!

What a bunch of crap.............Mark Sanford is a liar, a cheat, and a lousy showman..............The only reason he is apologizing is because he got caught.

He is considering staying in office because the money he is getting from kickbacks is way too good. He will stay in office until he is either impeached or his term runs out.
