So you would like our kids to ride around like the people of China? LOL Do you people ever actually stop and THINK for yourselves? I mean you spent THREE DECADES trying to put American's in a box and here you are, having LOST an election and your party in the Fringe and YOU are still trying to put us in a box. Good luck as you slowly fade into history!! LOL There is ONE fact we can all accept... IF the Neocon's are in power we aren't having this debate and our Dependence on Oil will be pushed into the future when we are even MORE dependent on Middle East Dictators. LOL But hey, I guess you can blame that on "Liberals" too? LOL Dumb as a bag of hammers!!

You cant reason with brainwashed libs. Its impossible. Do you honestly think if we destroy all coal plants, oil, etc.....that we will have less Hurricanes. That this rip off bill will actually do something. Take 15% of your money and burn it. You will get the same results. I am doing the same thing, taking all the names of the reps who blindly followed Obama and Nancy Polosi. They will pay dearly.

This is all you folks have or ever have had isn't it. FEAR! IF you can't scare the people about the change the VAST majority of the experts in the world say we MUST make, what do you stand to loose? Do you own an Oil Company or do you have connections with some industry that pollutes? That's the ONLY reason I can see for a response like you make... By the way, I've never seen anyone yet who wants to put American's in a Box and call everyone who doesn't agree with them a "Liberal" be right on ANYTHING yet. My guess? You have greed motivating you and you care LESS what our kids have to deal with?

I think they should have gone for a carbon tax, phased in to ease the impacts, and with some rebate for ordinary consumers. Nothing but drastic action will prevent catastrophe, I believe, and much of this convoluted bill is unenforceable, or even a step in the wrong direction. The carbon offsets promised are so large, for example, that if all of them were taken, US industry wouldn't have to make any carbon cuts at all until 2026. Also, the bill prevents the EPA from regulating coal burning power-plants...

When a bill is 1200 pages long, it means that lobbyists wrote it. How many of them, do you suppose, work for environmentalist groups? We have to stop writing bills that do the opposite of what their title indicates they will do. It allows powerful groups to claim they are impacted when they aren't (but you won't know about it until you dig into the details).

As an example of this phenomenon, I recently read an article about the California tax situation. It is widely claimed and believed that Californians pay some of the highest state taxes in the nation, and on paper that certainly appears to be true. But, factor in the tax loopholes... Buried in this article was a simple but stunning admission: As a fraction of the state's income, California's tax collections are LOWER than 16 other states in America, hence their taxes are closer to the middle than the top. You can hide a lot of bvllsh*t in the 'details', and that's what lobbyists excel at. But, there is always some simple statistic that bears out the truth, usually too late to do anything about it.

As I see it the issues before us to be debate are fairly clear. We HAVE Global Warming and we are running out of Fossil Fuel. On those two points there can be little argument in that the polar ice caps are melting AND we are importing MORE Oil than ever before. The debate then is centered around what we do about it. On the one hand you have people with a plan to move us away from Carbon Based Fuels, toward Renewable Clean Energy. The other group are the same folks who it took nearly a decade to even admit we had Global Warming and their plan is?? Well I'm not real sure what their plan is in that they can't seem to even agree that we are running out of Oil or Man is responsible for Global Warming. It amazes me that people who can actually think can look at what we saw during the Olympics and say the Problem isn't Man made.

If you spend nearly a trillion dollars of taxpayer money on your special-interests' pet causes and call it a stimulus package, it becomes your economy; whether that's in your first month of office or your last.

That's just a huge chunk of change at a time when we're already deep in debt, and pretty much everyone now agrees it's been a complete failure in stimulating anything, other than raising our cost of borrowing and hitting our currency.

If made into law this bill will serve only one purpose . . . it will suck an incredible amount of money from the mindless masses and allow Obama to continue his march to a total socialist/Marxist state. Wake up people, this is the biggest scam since Markoff.

Whether or not global warming is caused entirely by our species is irrelevant. It is still real. I personally believe that global warming is part of a geological cycle that this planet goes through continuously. I do also believe that humans have accelerated it. This leaves us with only two issues to debate on the matter.

First, *can* we reverse it? I'm not so sure, especially if it is part of a larger planetary cycle. We may or may not be able to slow it down. I do not believe we can stop it and certainly not completely reverse it.

Second, *should* we try to stop or reverse its effects? Yes. Regardless what causes it, yes, we should do what we can to slow/stop/reverse it -- though that may be very little.

And as for *why* we should try; we should for the same reason you run an air conditioner in the Summer.

The Hill Democrats, in essence, just shot the American public and industry in the knees by signing this bill. Obama is planning on shooting for the heart if he follows through with the Nationalized Health Care.

Look ditto head, we had the "Other" Party in charge for EIGHT Years and we saw what the gave us. These people are at least TRYING to do something not just "Staying the Course". Now try to grow a back bone here and stop being so afraid. We're American's, we can do ANYTHING if we put our minds to it.

These things are NEVER easy and they never come without overcoming a LOT of FEAR! I don't doubt that changes will have to be made in the future but our lives and the lives of our Kids can and will be improved IF we move away from the insanity of burning fossil fuels, one only need look at a smoke stack to understand that. As my old dad once told me, "Nothing worth doing is easy". I have studied History my entire life and at every juncture, at ever fork in the road, there are always people, like the obstructionist Republican's, yelling at the top of their voice about how we are going to suffer if we go forward, how our world will be shattered if we don't turn around. It's NEVER happened and in fact, when you look at the record, the reverse has ALWAYS been true. We have become a better Country and better People for that move forward. "Can't" has never accomplished ANYTHING.
