IF (and I say IF) a public plan puts private health insurers out of business it IS NOT a bad thing, so to speak. What do you have now? High costs, denial of claims whenever it suits them, denial of coverage because you may have to use your insurance, abd constant fights over coverage. Boy, would I hate to lose a good deal like that!

Get a job and maybe you could go to the doctor instead of smoking pot and drinking beer in your rocking chair. I am personally tired of all you free loaders that think the rest of us owe you something.

By the end of 2010, it's estimated that 40% of ALL Americans will not have employer sponsored health insurance, and many FULLY EMPLOYED people today already don't have it.

Don't decry others, because you happen to be one of the lucky few.

Well, the Adminisration and the Congressional Democrats better being gearing up for a serious fight this summer, because the Republicans and their super wealthy and powerful masters...the insurance companies, the pharmaceutical industry, medical supplies and devices, and last but no least, the AMA, will never allow their $2 TRILLION health care RACKET to slip through their greedy little fat fingers without a bloody battle.....

The Republicans had 8 years to do something about healthcare reform, but never even mentioned it. Now, after the public voted them out of office--they still demand things be done their way or else they won't play. Whatever happened to the "American good"?

mars,

As a Democrat who voted for Obama, thus far every point of change he has launched has failed. I am one of many Democrats who think this needs additional thought and scrutiny.

It's akin to a parent allowing their child to take the family car disregarding the previous body and engine damage sustained in a driver?s education incident the day before.

Makes no sense until we see one successful disposition or at least the budding of any fruit on any action taken by President Obama thus far...

I for one cannot accept another $1 trillion spent on mere theorems. The first stimulus has not worked. The strategy didn?t work so what makes you think this one will? It won?t.

My friends, family and colleagues are certainly worse off now than in March. There is now no optimism that the mortgage, loan and employment sectors will see any manner of relief. If you have circumstances that you can share that would illustrate this as not correct please?by all means.

I'm already out of it. Too bad you aren't as intelligent as I am but then again you are the weakest link!
I hope your burial expenses are already paid for. Medicine by committee will get you killed more times then you know. Enjoy, comrade! :D

Actually, the funniest thing about these blogs is the fact that the dummest people posting here like to talk about how smart they are. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You, like other Ditto-heads, siimply talk to hear your head rattle.

By the way, just how many times can you get killed?

If you wife is 50+ years old and you have kids, do you really want some Government nut job deciding if your wife will get expensive life saving treatment or medications and on a waiting list. Do you think for a minute the government gives a damn about your wife...no..they only care about how much money they will save if they do NOT spend it on your wife after all she to them is just an overaged liability at this point. Oh, it may not be your wife or mother....it could be your child and who are you going to go crying to when they don't listen? Who in this NEW Democrat Congress Government Administration gives at rat about you as an individual......they ony wanted your stupid vote to stay in power.

People are having their benefits denied every single day in America, all for "profit". This either leads them to NOT get the treatment, (worsening their condition leading to even MORE EXPENSIVE treatments down the line), or forcing them to get the treatment, and file bankruptcy later, even though they've paid tens of thousands in premiums.

Either way, your comment holds NO MERIT, because NO ONE is denied needed medical coverage in nation's with universal health care. Voluntary procedures like Lasik or liposuction -- yes. But NEEDED procedures ARE NOT denied.

On page 16 of the pdf in the story, they weighted the poll 24% Rep. 38% Dem. and 38% Ind. I just sort of guessed the 2 to 1 from that, I don't think its much out of line.

I should run for office. I will promise to give all the free loaders all of the illegals and loosers, free food, free cars, free homes, free medical and won't have to ever work in their lives. It is no doubt I would be elected by those stupid enough to believe it. And who is going to pay for it all NOT ME.

Is that speech you're planning to deliver to your parents who just moved in or maybe to your lazy-fat-slob-unemployed older brother who has been living in your basement the last 10 years?

"But Republicans, insurers and many business leaders say a government plan could drive private insurance companies out of business."

And that would be the best thing to happen to health care in America. The insurance companies are sucking billions out of the health care budget to line their coffers. No health care is provided by that money - rather health care quality suffers severely so we can afford to make the insurance companies rich.

CUDOS You've said it.
How many thousands of Americans went bankcrupt because of the high cost of medical care?

If you can not take the heat, get out of the f*@#$n kitchen.

If Democrat Congressmen and women vote for this bill, they will not be re-elected to Congress and most likely the end of their political career. We do not need to be hit in the head over what Nationalized Health Care would do to this country's overall health care. The Government already has screwed up Medi-Care and Social Security and the Housing Industry and yet they keep giving themselves raises without our approval or consent. It's is time for the majority of sane people in the US to stand up against abuse of Government power. Our Government can't even manage it's own departments, let alone programs.

They are going to get a lot more resistance than they may think. People are getting tired of spending a trillion dollars at a time.

Right on-Stuart! 5 years of war = 1 trillion $ which equals 10 years of healthcare for Americans.

Hungry1968 is such an angry hippie! There was a time when I would have thought "angry hippie" was an oxymoron. Not anymore. Back in the 60's you all mistrusted the government and wanted them to leave you alone. Now that you're all grown up and refuse to take any personal responsibility for anything you all want to suckle on the Big Government teat. Dillon was right. The times, they are a-changin.

I am neither "angry" nor a "hippie".

I am simply smart enough to realize that if something is broken, isn't working, hasn't been working for a long time, and needs to be replaced or repaired, you do it.

Sorry if common sense leaves you in the dust.

I can't do anything about your lack of reasoning power.

"Now that you're all grown up and refuse to take any personal responsibility for anything you all want to suckle on the Big Government teat."

You misunderstand. Many of us, including me, with perfectly reasonable insurance are taking responsibility for taking care of those less fortunate. And most of us are smart enough to realize that we're one layoff away from being in the same boat.
