Oh, please. By that logic, heterosexual men are trying to change society. Heterosexual men have raped women throughout the existence of humanity. You cite to one moment of alleged harassment (gay prides happen EVERY year, but this is the only incident I have heard regarding sexual harassment), but you try to use this to demonize gay people? Give me a break.

When sraight guys rape and kill women, including their wives, it does not reflect badly on hets. When heterosexual men harass their female employers, it does not reflect badly on hets. When heterosexual men engage in domestic violence, this is does not destroy "their" reputation. Apparently, "society's long-held values" including allowing heterosexual men to do whatever they please while "trampling" on everyone else's freedom. Not anymore!

This is "good news" for all Americans who believe in equality. What a person does in private should have no impact upon their own ability to live the American dream.

You really take yourself too seriously. LGBT people do not your respect. We just want you to keep your nose out of bedrooms and your paws off of our constitutional rights.

Also, the very tired "marriage has long been defined as between one man and one woman" argument is so weak. Tradition has always been used to justify, well, tradition. Just because people have always done or believed things does not mean that these things should be impervious to change.

The only "devastating" consequence that would occur from "questioning stnadards" is that people would have to back up their beliefs with facts and analysis. Pointing to "God" is not analysis. It is just an attempt to curb debate.

It's nice to see the gay community having one of their concerns addressed by the administration...

Once the gay issue is "settled" it will next be time to "settle" the bi-sexual issue, on the date that is "settled" the next bunch of sexual misfits will want their issue "settled". There is no end to moving the "line" once it is done.

Unfortunately, we cannot settle bigotry and idiocy in the United States. That seems to be an inherent part of our culture....But your comments remind me of a speech a Senator made opposing legislation giving food, medicine and other supplies to the former slaves after the Civil War. The Senator said -- first, the wanted to be free. Then they wanted protection. Then they want the right to vote. Next they will want to run for office....When will this madness end?....blah blah blah. You are in great company with your FEAR OF JUSTICE.

Those who disagree with your post are being banned. CBS continues to demonstrate their anti-Freedom of speech agenda towards Conservatives.

Sick communists!

slownewsday05, you and your numerous screennames you've created while working for CBS in order to talk to your various alter egos, sitting behind your laptop banning people who disagree with the liberal agenda won't be able to slide forever.

You aren't going to get away with it forever.......so enjoy it while it last.

This guy sounds like a right wing radical! Where do you get off threatening people? Think you're a tough guy huh? I'll bet you wish you could hook your guns up to the computer just like your camcorder that you used with Sen. Craig. If you got banned you deserved it . Quit crying like the neo-cons do!

So now he discriminates against heterosexuals. Why can't a normal girl friend or boyfriend get benefits.

Commentary: Deranged people are everywhere.
There are so many people that have some form of a mental disorder, they are all unstable individuals that need mental help. Only in this country can the insane and deranged people try to make the sane look like idiots.

Thank God we got rid of them when we kicked the GOP out of Government.

Gay and lesbian activists had expected Obama to take action sometime in June, which is gay pride month.

Uh-Oh Here they go again! A jury in San Diego has decided local firefighters have the right to refuse to participate in the city's "gay pride" parade.

The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) sued on the firefighters' behalf after the San Diego Fire Department forced them to participate in the parade and retaliated against them for complaining about the harassment they endured during the event.

After the lawsuit, the Fire Department changed its policy.

?Many people may mistakenly think the ?gay pride? parade is merely a ?fun? event,? said Joe Infranco, senior counsel for ADF. ?They never would have imagined the crude sexual harassment these firefighters were forced to endure.

"In truth, the goal of homosexual advocates is to undermine society?s long-held values. They continue to seek this, whether by demanding participation in ?gay pride? parades or by trampling the democratic process to redefine marriage.?

Gays and lesbians are not asking for special rights, but equal rights. Homosexuality is not a lifestyle dovestar. If it is, so is heterosexuality. If unmarried heterosexuals want the same coverage, ask for it, but don't complain about homosexuals getting benefits and etc due to them simply because they are in a committed relationship just like "married" couples. Again, just my opinion, but heterosexuals can get married, so they choose not to, so why should they have special rights, just like most heterosexuals do and especially white heterosexuals. Anyway, I want anyone who is a homophobe or a religious person to state where there is proof that homosexuality is a lifestyle. There is no proof except in your very limited minds. I don't mean to say you are stupid, but you limit yourself a part of life by hating a group and think you are entitled to push your personal religious ideology on others. Live your life as you please and I will love mine. But I can tell you one thing, I do not obsess about someone else's sexual life like conservative, religious people.

I'm so joyous that people trying to force their myths on others are seeing the powerlessness of their deities. No sulfur and flames from heaven. Eventually the brainwashing they have done with their children will be undone.

One day the whole sordid idea that followers should war for their deities will disappear. "They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."

Based on this, I'm assuming that this policy change will apply to those who have a heterosexual significant other and/or girlfriend/boyfriend who live together. What are the rules? How long must they be together to qualify? What happens if and when they break up? Will the nonfederal significant other have a claim to benefits such as health, insurance, pension, etc.. after the break up or the federal employee dies? Many more questions, not enough room to ask. I assume once the announcement is made, the laws will be changed and OPM will comply.
