- Well... this is a step forward. Really.
Sure, it's just a baby step, but it does at least say that under Obama's administration, that they are willing to recognize gay marriages/domestic partnerships and afford these relationships the same benefits as their heterosexual couples.
The key thing I see here is that recognition, letting the states know that Federal government is regognizing our marriages. - Reply to this comment
- Do you actually know *anything* about history? Have you ever truly studied any other cultures? Numerous cultures accepted and accept homosexuality as a natural part of life.
Especially Asian? Ever hear of the Samurai?
Extinction? With how many people on this extremly overpopulated earth?

I don't HAVE to accept or condone what they do.
First of all, they don't NEED my permission or acceptance to do it. All they have to do is SHUT THE HELL UP and live their lives and be happy.
Oh brother, rowdy. They don't want your permission or for you to accept them. They do want to live their lives and be happy, tho - and that means they want the same rights and privileges other Americans enjoy. - Why might they need a marriage license? Well, there are approximately 1,138 reasons. By some counts it's around 1,400. Google "rights associated with marriage" for more information.
So do they have the same rights? Nope.
Will they evenentually have the same rights? Yep.

- Are people who disagree with you jerks ? President Obama is OUR president at a time of great difficulty, but he possesses the intelligence to consider the entire problem. Correct decisions will not always be made, but decisions will be made. President Obama will not allow problems to grow.

- Saturn, I agree with your comments. What I don't understand are people, including members of my family, who can't accept same sex marriage.
I especially agree with your comment about one law for all states.
One last comment, I hope that President Obama is not making these decisions because of campaign promises, but because they are the correct decisions. Saturn, I don't make decisions based on appearance, sexuality, or whatever, my decisions are made on the fact that we are all people pursuing happiness, and I will not be a detour to that pursuit. - Reply to this comment
- You say that gays and lesbians want approval of their lifestyle? Well, if their wanting the same rights as the rest of us is some kind of special treatment, then I think you should move to China.

That seems to be an inherent part of our culture....But your comments remind me of a speech a Senator made opposing legislation giving food, medicine and other supplies to the former slaves after the Civil War. The Senator said -- first, the wanted to be free. Then they wanted protection. Then they want the right to vote.
