- What were asking jersy is why is a two hour operation cost 100,000,were not asking you to pay for it with your 100,000.Make a price based on income. The technology has long been paid for,we know these prices reflect greed. How much of the 100,000 grand does the doctor get?Where does the other 90,000 go,Duh

that's the dumbest friggin thing i've ever heard. so because you make $20K your chemo costs $100 bucks a pop but i make $1.5mill so my chemo will cost $100,000.00 a pop? yea. fair is fair.....how bout it goes to malpracticeinsurance, admin costs, etc. you have any idea how many people work at just one hospital for all that goes on there???? and if gov't takes over and "fixes it" how many more will lose their jobs? or at least get major paycuts because, well, it's just not faaaaaaaaair for people to make more than someone else. the whole freakin argument is ridiculous. how many countries have to go down this road before us before we see it DOES NOT WORK??? you cannot drag down the larger to make the small big. ya just can't. wealth and prosperity is not a pie. because i have a large slice does not mean your slice is porportionately smaller. there is opportunity for exponential growth and wealth. no one is stopping anyone but they themselves. - Reply to this comment

You're not alone. There's a lot of people who take care of themselves without any hospitals, clinics, or insurance companies. - Reply to this comment

- Saving money on health care costs will enable people to spend more money on other consumer goods thus growing the economy and the tax base.

I do agree in some points made. But, you do now have to accept the fact that the damage is done and live with it. Having children, not eating right, smoking, jumping off of cliffs etc. etc. The damage has been done and it has to be paid for somehow. We pay every month premiums for various insurance. Some insurance payments are accumulating for years. For example flood insurance for areas that don't have floods. Why not help others? - Reply to this comment
- My whole problem is working 6 days a week and pay for the Oprah couch lovers that put Obama in office to start with. They expect something for nothing except that trip to the mailbox to see if the checks have come yet. If you have not contributed, then you don't get it. I also expext Obama, his wife and kids to get what we get along with congress, no more, no less. If it's good enough for the peasants then it's good enough for them.

- Anyone that can't pay for insurance surly can't pay any hospital or doctor bills. I for one have not had coverage for over 15 years. I pay out of pocket for any health care. I broke my leg and had to set it myself and stay off it for 9 weeks before it healed. What would that cost at the hospital? I just keep praying that I stay healthy. No one owes me anything. Insurance, hospitals, doctors are all draining us dry of money. Now the gov. wants to do public health care. They can't even handle medicare. How are they going to do everyone? American have got to stop crying for the gov. to bail everyone out. That's socialism . What are we the U.S.S.R.?

- More taxes for another plan for govt control, when they madate that employers have to carry health insurance, you can eliminate the small business, than not only will people lose their jobs, they still won't have insurance till the govt kicks in. Guess the liberals love having the govt take care of them, they couldn't go out and make a living having to actually work. Guess that is the american way now, get a govt job, be paid for 40 hours courtesy of the taxpayers but we only have to be there for 40 and work maybe 5 or 10 for the week.
Liberals are useless people that scream for more govt handouts. - Reply to this comment
- and look..... some people do care more about their 100k they saved their whole life in the bank than someone else's child that lives on the other side of town that they never met....that is how we are......do you cry everytime a child dies? if you have no emotional connection with someone then you will be more concerned about your life savings.....and that is a fact... have yall ever just loaned someone 1000 dollars just because they needed it and asked for it? and quit believing the politicians! nothing has changed in washington!

- That is not exactly true. In some states in fact the states that have seen the most economic growth are the states that have no or low income and property taxes. They have seen the highest population and corporate increase as opposed to the states that have high income and property taxes as in the Northeast and California are losing population and have bankrupt state budgets. The tax level in the US is far more of a range depending on where you live than anywhere in the world. So here you have a choice and many people are moving to places that have a lower tax burden.

WELL THIS IS NOT EXACTLY TRUE EITHER, IN FACT, A LOT OF WHAT

WHY DONT YOU STOP THE PROPAGANDA,
AMERICANS ARE WELL USED TO THE
KARL ROVE TACTICS BY NOW, AND WE DO NOT BELIEVE YOU.

- The costs associated with medical inflation outstrip ordinary cost of living increases. The government has all the data and statistics available and the administration reports an unhealthy upward trend that will consume 34% of GNP in the near future. The President, industry, small business and many other entrepenurial concerns favor reforming the system. But as the President just stated, full implementation of the medical reform package will probably not be in place until 5-6 years from now. But there must be a starting point for this reform--and that time is NOW.

- all of this debate can be simplied by just looking at principles......many people think they are owed something.........they think if they have diabetes SOMEBODY other than themselves should HAVE to pay for their medical bills......what makes you think a private company of any kind should have to pay for your bills if they dont want to? if they dont want to cover you....then it is your problem, not theirs......go lose some weight and maybe you wont have diabetes

This post states if you ever need major brain surgery you should have the money to cover it or die. In my opinion this is a very dumb and un-feeling post.
Posted by onesword at 10:58 AM : Jun 11, 2009
well my question is.......why should someone else have to lose more money on your brain surgery than YOU do?

All the money insurance companies pull in from individuals and families for profit. You tell me that they aren't able to assist in having it done in the name of profit? In the name of money for profit has taken over the human issue in saving a life. - Reply to this comment
- Many people think they owed something.Onesword wrote.
I don't think you get it,I don't think anyone is expecting someone to pay their bills. We just want it affordable. Why should a surgery cost more than a person makes in a lifetime. How did the price get so high? Most surgeries last less than 12 hours.Does that justify 100,000 dollars an hour.It could save them heartache too,if I knew my child was gonna die and no one would help save him because we didn't have enough money, then I can assure you that I will try and get the money at any cost in any manner possible. You might be the one holding the bag of money when I come for it.There won't be any calming me down either.Have a healthy life

what your are saying is, when the time comes, you will be too selfish and unconcerned about others when it comes between your child's life and someone else's.......now i dont doubt you will feel that way........but you will be wrong - Reply to this comment

Your comment proves "You can't fix stupid" Your agument on Diabetes is beyond stupid, do some reading, while weight contributes, it's far from the only reason.
By the way educate yourself on insurance, it's not just based on YOU it's based on a pool of insureres in the same age brackets with additions or subtractions for some personal health issues. We ALL pay into and out of that pooled fund. In fact at our city (I'm on the city council and insurance group) 12% of the insureds use 83% of the payout. Our pool is determined by basically that 12%. Average coverage runs $1048 per person per month. So lets say you pay in for 12 months that's 12,576 dollars. You need at the end of the year a 300,000 procedure. Think that 1048 pays for all that by itself?
Get a clue.
yes i am aware about how insurance works and nothing in your message taught me anything... i assure you my education surpasses yours in medical sciences.... also...you still didnt explain why someone thinks they should have the right to have a private company pay for their medical bills when they do not want to, or it is not profitable for them to.... - Reply to this comment
